Japanese born, Irish based pianist Izumi Kimura and US drummer Gerry Hemingway, who now lives in Switzerland, have an intuitive understanding of one another. They move seamlessly between formal structures, percussive outbursts, finely woven sound puzzles, and expressive solos. Even in the free passages, one hears the love of rhythm and melody, which Hemingway emphasizes by playing complementary tonal lines on the vibraphone or drums, while Kimura’s crisp staccato enhances and complements Hemingway's intricate constructions
This concert will also feature ECM London based multi-instrumentalist FRED THOMAS and is part of EFG LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL 2025
