00:00Is this world-famous hike worth the view? Hike with us while I tell you what you need to know.
00:03If there's one hike that defines Patagonia, it's this one. The Mirador-based Torres Trail is a 22-kilometer
00:07round-trip hike to a glacial lake surrounded by three dramatic granite towers. And as you might
00:11already know, it's one of the most iconic views in South America. Most people hike it as part of a
00:15multi-TW trek, or it's also doable as a really long day hike. But for the best experience, I think
00:20you should get there for sunrise when the towers turn gold and the crowds are still mostly asleep.
00:24We found an easy way to do that is to spend the night halfway up at Refugio Chileno, where you
00:28can camp and have a hot meal, and then start hiking the next morning, two to three hours
00:31before sunrise. Final stretch in the dark is very steep, cold, and slow going, but it is
00:35well-marked and manageable with a headlamp. It took us about two and a half hours to reach
00:38the top from the Refugio, and then we had it mostly to ourselves after the initial wave
00:41cleared out. So, is this famous hike worth it? If you're up for a challenge and want a sunrise
00:45that you will never forget, then I would say yes, absolutely.
