00:00What does it mean to be here tonight and nominated for this performance?
00:04I'm going to always keep it real.
00:06It means a lot.
00:07I keep thinking about my grandmother, who's in heaven right now.
00:11But I know she's watching.
00:13I bounced back from a lot of things that most said I would never come back here.
00:18So to be back here on this carpet amongst so many greats, it's for her.
00:24It's an angel thing tonight.
00:27This film has had so much box office success.
00:29I saw it on Christmas Day, and the theater was packed.
00:31It was sold out.
00:32What has that success meant to you?
00:34So we did this thing called CinemaCon, because, you know, this is my first big movie.
00:40And I did my lifetime movie, but it was nothing like Warner Brothers.
00:44Shout out to Warner Brothers because they gave us everything that we needed to create something great.
00:50But sitting back and just seeing everything now, it's almost like I'm pinching myself.
00:55It was something that I didn't know that I wanted to step back into.
01:00It was blood work.
01:01It was ministry.
01:03But I knew it was going to be healing.
01:04So at CinemaCon, Oprah said, if you could use one word, what would you use?
01:08And everybody had their word.
01:09And for me, it was healing.
01:11I feel like it's healing a lot of people.
01:13It's not just a black thing.
01:15It's an everybody thing.
01:17It's a man, woman, young, old.
01:19And so that, for me, means everything.
01:22Yeah.
01:23How was Oprah a mentor for you while working on this movie?
01:26First of all, for Oprah to be in the trenches with us.
01:29We were out where there were bugs, mosquitoes, hot.
01:35We would always look over and see her sitting there.
01:38And I'm thinking, she could be eating caviar, drinking champagne, which I would love to be doing right now.
01:45But she was there with us.
01:47This story means a lot to her.
01:48And I already know when you have something that blessed and something that good, a lot will try to come against that.
01:56You know?
01:57And so I will say she was a blessing to us.
02:00She talked.
02:00She laughed.
02:01She did the electric slide with us.
02:03I'm like, come on.
02:04I didn't even know if she could do it and dip into it like she did, but she did it.
02:08And I thank her for that.
02:09I loved that video that was going viral from the set of the movie.
02:13What was it like for you to see the fan reaction to that?
02:15And also, just what was it like being on such a joyful set, even though it is such a serious movie?
02:19It meant a lot because we were doing blood work.
02:21It wasn't easy work.
02:22It was a lot of pressure.
02:23It was a lot of work.
02:24So to see her out there, it felt to me like a girl from High Point, North Carolina, like my aunties and my uncles and how we do.
02:31So it made me feel very Southern and very at home.
02:34So I'm grateful for that.
02:35Yeah.
02:35Yeah.
