01:24I think it's a crazy idea
01:27That's the end
01:29Who's idea was it about 100 feet of light
01:32It's a disaster
01:33With some guests coming in a few weeks
01:36It's going to be really nice to have the sun terrace finished
01:38Finally
01:40Yeah
01:42The clock is ticking on the Costa del Sol
01:54For Jasmine and John's renovation
01:56There's just a few weeks to go
01:59To get everything finished
02:00In time for a special gathering
02:02That's been organised for close family and friends
02:05We wanted to do a nice little housewarming party
02:08To invite everyone back
02:10To see how things have progressed
02:13But everything's delayed
02:16We're still hoping to have everything done by then
02:22It will be challenging
02:26But with the invites already out
02:29And flights booked
02:30A last minute cancellation is not an option
02:33And while the entertainment room in the basement
02:35Is now fully operational
02:37A lot of the family's home
02:39Is still a building site
02:40I knew when we took on this project
02:42That we would have to be living here
02:44Whilst the renovation was going on
02:46But I think what I didn't anticipate
02:48Was that
02:50It would be so dirty
02:53So noisy
02:57So overwhelming
03:00So many people in the house
03:04And so many different demands on my headspace
03:11I think we're kind of at the pinnacle
03:15At the moment
03:16Of the most stressful time
03:19And hopefully we get over this peak
03:23And then it starts getting easier
03:25And it starts getting more finished
03:26And you start to see more progress
03:28So that's what I'm hoping
03:29Right now
03:32One of the biggest challenges for Jasmine
03:34Is that John is away from home
03:35Filming in Wales
03:37In an extreme location
03:39I'm currently working
03:40On Mount Snowdon
03:41Which is
03:42Which seems like
03:44And is a long way from Jasmine
03:45Kids
03:45In the south of Spain
03:47Feels weird
03:48I'm into about 10 days
03:50Of being away from them
03:51And there's a lot going on
03:53At the house
03:53And I feel slightly helpless
03:56There's certain bits
03:57That I thought I would be doing
03:59Certain bits that I would be finishing
04:00But we're really up against it time-wise
04:03So jazz is having to crack on
04:05But needs must
04:06I have to work
04:08I'm looking forward to getting home
04:09And grafting
04:10And putting in a stint of
04:11Trying to finish the house
04:13Even in summer
04:15Temperatures can be close to freezing
04:17On the peak of Mount Snowdon
04:18While in Spain
04:22Jasmine's team of builders
04:24Are labouring in 40 degree heat
04:27I bought a watermelon yesterday
04:31Me and the kids ate about a quarter of it
04:33I've got so much left
04:34And I thought
04:34I need to
04:35Give some to the guys
04:36It's so hot today
04:38I thought a nice cold
04:40Watermelon out of the fridge
04:42Would be refreshing
04:43Absolutely beautiful
04:45Look at you
04:47Absolutely sweating
04:48I think here
04:50Because of the heat
04:52And the temperature
04:53You know
04:53You wouldn't really be wanting
04:55A cup of tea
04:56And a biscuit
04:57Take some of that
04:58And then take some of this
04:59Something really cold
05:02And refreshing
05:03Like watermelon
05:05Straight out of the fridge
05:06Is much more appealing
05:08Thank you
05:10Thank you
05:12Gracias
05:14Perfecto
05:15Gracias
05:16At the moment
05:18The renovation team's main focus
05:20Inside the house
05:21Is the kitchen
05:22Where the laying of the marble floor tiles
05:24Has just been finished
05:26Otherwise the kitchen is little more than an empty shell
05:30That kitchen
05:31Just no walls
05:34No ceiling
05:35It is depressing to look at
05:40But once the plasterboard goes up
05:42Then you can start to really visualise
05:45How it's going to come together when it's finished
05:48Walls and ceilings are really important actually
05:52Underrated sometimes
05:54Plasterboarding will give the kitchen a basic shape
06:00But there's a long way to go
06:01Before it's ready for Jasmine's new units to be installed
06:04The kitchen is going to be delivered in a week's time
06:10All of the electrics need to be finished
06:15The plumbing
06:16The plastering
06:18The painting
06:19I don't know how they're going to do it all in a week
06:29Apart from hitting the kitchen deadline
06:31Jasmine's also on a mission to give the sun terrace
06:34A complete makeover
06:35Originally the idea was to install solar panels up here
06:40But that would involve big structural changes
06:43With a hefty cost attached
06:44So the plan is on hold for the foreseeable future
06:48Instead the terrace has been serving as a utility area
06:52I was happy for the sun terrace upstairs
06:55To be somewhere for laundry
06:57Because most of the time it would be too hot to sit up there in the sun
07:00But John was adamant that he really wanted it to be
07:03Like a lovely entertaining area
07:06So the idea up here is to create a really chilled Ibiza kind of vibe
07:15With lots of greenery, some nice lighting, lots of natural textures
07:23I got a roll of wicker fence panels to attach to the wall
07:28Just to give it a bit more natural texture
07:31And I think it will be quite a nice backdrop
07:33Because it is going to be so bright up there
07:36That I think the dark colour will actually just be a little bit less intense on your eyes
07:42The garden isn't ready
07:44It's still a building site
07:46So I've got some slight concerns about having a nice usable space for the housewarming party
07:53So getting the rooftop terrace up to speed
07:58And transforming it into somewhere that we can enjoy being outside
08:02And entertaining guests is really important
08:05It's not simply a case of getting the sun terrace ready in time
08:10There's also the matter of budget
08:12I bought a load of furniture from a friend when we first bought this house
08:18And one of the things that was in the bundle was a dining table, eight chairs and three sun loungers
08:28All for outside use
08:30I'm going to have sun loungers over there on that side
08:34Obviously minus the washing
08:36You know, if we're actually lounging up here
08:38I won't have everyone's smalls hanging up
08:41And then this is a great big area
08:44And it could easily fit this big table that we've got
08:48So the only downside is the table has got a glass top
08:53So I've asked the guys to see if they think they could get that glass top up here
09:00Either up the stairs, which I'm not sure, it's a very big piece of glass
09:05Or up the outside of the building
09:07So we're going to see if we can do that
09:09Fingers crossed
09:11It will work because then I won't have to buy any new furniture for up here
09:17To help come up with the plan, Jasmine is bringing in head builder Dominic
09:22We've been looking at various solutions
09:25Trying to get it up inside the house
09:27I don't think it will go up the stairs
09:29Because of the size of it
09:31And that would be fine
09:33Because we can very easily take it up the outside of the building
09:36If only the table top itself
09:39Wasn't glass
09:42Because it's extremely heavy
09:45Do you think it's possible?
09:47To unpack it with something
09:49I think it's possible but risky
09:50I'll tell you why
09:51Because the hardest bit is
09:52Getting over
09:53Over the very lip
09:54Over the very lip at the top
09:55One little dink on there
09:56Yeah and it will explode
09:57I think it's easy just to pass it and hope someone grabs it
10:00Because that's the problem, you're reaching like this
10:02And it's quite heavy
10:03Two guys can actually stand closer to the edge
10:06And you've got a hell of a lot more chance than taking it up through
10:09Okay
10:10A rope as well
10:12Just in case it's secure
10:13With the ladder as well
10:14I don't really have a solution for the table top yet
10:17We'll do it, don't worry
10:19We'll do it, don't worry
10:39Outside the house, Jasmine and her team have been brainstorming
10:43And now the lifting of the second hand table to the sun terrace can get underway
10:48The plan that's been devised is to attempt hoisting up the glass top using a rope and pulley system
10:55So first one of the builders, Liam, wants to try it out using a wooden pallet as a stand-in
11:03Yeah, just keep pulling it up, safer that way
11:06So the guys are just having a little test to see if it's going to be possible
11:11The tricky part is going to be getting it over those roof tiles which we've got going up the house
11:16All right, pull it to one G, right?
11:18What?
11:19Pull it to one G
11:20We're trying to figure it out
11:21This is me trying to be eco-friendly
11:23Reusing, recycling stuff that I've already got
11:25Not spending money on new furniture, getting it in place
11:28But if it's going to take five guys half a day to get it done, then it's not worth it
11:34The worry is, unlike the pallet, the sheet of glass is heavy, weighing in at nearly 40 kilograms
11:40Hold on tight, boys
11:43When you are pulling down on this rope, straight down like that, the pressure's not so bad
11:49But the trouble is, the ledges on the roof, if the glass hits that, it's just going to shatter
11:55So we need the second rope to pull it outwards
11:57Outwards
11:58And then that's got more pressure
12:00On the washing line
12:01Which can cause it to pop out, you've got your swimming pool
12:04Underneath
12:05Yeah
12:06I don't want the swimming pool full of glass
12:10As the team sorts out the extra rope, Dominic directs the lifting of the table frame, which is being done by hand
12:17Half a bit, corner to corner
12:19Right there, like it is
12:20Yeah
12:21Because that's the longest reach
12:22Up you're going
12:24Got all the tents
12:26Careful of the wall
12:27That's a lot lighter than a piece of glass there
12:30The frame
12:31Up to the roof terrace was easy
12:33The guys just sort of handed it to each other from one balcony to the next until it reached the top
12:38The glass table top was obviously a completely different scenario
12:45With the pulley system in place and a second rope to hand, Dominic wants to reassess the situation himself
12:52Dominic, I'm not sure
12:53They'll grab it
12:54What you've got to watch out for, Ryan
12:57Watch that wall
12:58That's the dodgy pit
12:59We don't think we can do it, we won't
13:01Okay, yeah, because also the neighbours, I don't want them to get their garden showered in glass
13:06Dominic felt quite confident that we could get it up there safely and he really wanted to give it a go
13:11Oh, they're bringing it out
13:14Come on in mate
13:16Just bring it out, it's heavy, it's heavy vidas
13:20Dominic, I...
13:22It's gonna...
13:24Just don't worry about it
13:25It's alright
13:26I think it's a crazy idea
13:28Hold it in
13:30Don't worry about it
13:31It's too risky
13:32It's too risky
13:33What I like about Dominic is he doesn't let anything beat him
13:37He's very can-do
13:39And I could see he didn't want to let that glass table top beat him
13:45He's determined, isn't he?
13:47I'm very good at physics, but this one's pretty heavy
13:49No, but I don't want it to end up in there, everywhere in the pool, do you know what I mean?
13:54I'm gonna go down and tell him
13:56Because to reach that high you've got to be holding just the bottom foot
14:00And that means you've got no control over it
14:03We'll come up with prototype number two, don't worry
14:06No, no, we'll get some suckers
14:08No, no, no, no
14:09I'll get Steve's sucker on it
14:10You can put it in the skip
14:11OK
14:13I think we're gonna bore
14:15As much as I wanted to recycle and reuse that table
14:20When we got the glass table top in place
14:23I think we all realised that it was far too risky
14:28And that we'd have to find another solution
14:31What I'm thinking is that we could maybe just get some wood
14:37And create a table top of our own up there
14:39So we can make a nice easy table out of that
14:42We'll get some UPVC decking
14:44Got the frame, just cut it like that, trim it and put it on top
14:47It doesn't matter, I'm happy
14:49That frame has gone up there
14:51I'll have a look at it
14:53Yeah, don't worry about it, just leave it like that
14:55There's a lot of excitement, but nothing happened
14:59As well as project managing the renovation
15:02Jasmine is also now single-handedly looking after daughter Joy
15:06And son Albion at home full-time
15:10We have really tried to minimise the amount of disruption for the kids
15:15Which is difficult when you're living on a building site
15:18And now they're broken up from school and they're at home much more of the time
15:22It's even more difficult because they want to play outside, they want to go for a swim
15:27Or they want to have their friends over
15:28And all of that is not really possible because there's just work going on everywhere at the moment
15:35I mean, at the end of the day
15:37They are very lucky kids
15:39You know, they've got a lovely life
15:41And at the end of this process
15:43They'll have a beautiful home and it will all be worth it
15:45But it's, it's tough actually for kids to deal with this sort of thing day in day out
15:53It's tough for adults as well
15:55With John still away filming in Wales
15:58And so much going on in the house
16:01Jasmine's decided it's time she and the children had a short break
16:04Hey guys, who wants a pan au chocolat?
16:09Me, me
16:11Nice holiday treat
16:13Want to come sit up at the table?
16:15The kids and myself are in a lovely little holiday apartment
16:22On a resort just down the coast a little way
16:24I just needed to get out of the house
16:26It was getting too much, the noise, the dirt, the constant decisions
16:31I don't think I realised how much it was getting to me
16:36Until I actually arrived here
16:38It's nice and quiet here isn't it?
16:40Compared to at home
16:42And way less dusty
16:44Way less dusty
16:46Oh, it's been so nice to be able to chill out
16:50Have fun with the kids
16:52What are we?
16:54Want a moodle or a ring?
16:59It's cake!
17:02When we first arrived
17:04I looked out of the window and I saw a pool right outside
17:07I said, kids, come and look!
17:09And we looked it and then we just rushed to get our swimming things on
17:13And we all piled out and had a lovely swim
17:15Ready?
17:17Let me throw these in the pool and see if we can jump into the hoops
17:22I'm going to jump in between there
17:24Three, two, one
17:26It's so nice, it's so relaxing, I just feel like instead of being at this level of intensity
17:42I've just been able to come down to a normal even keel
17:46Where I feel like I can cope again
17:48Where I feel like I can cope again
17:49Down on the Costa del Sol, while Jasmine and the children are away
18:07The renovation team are working hard in the kitchen to meet their deadline
18:11One of the jobs on the list is preparing the marble floor tiles for polishing
18:17Called grinding, this process removes blemishes for a smooth shiny finish
18:24And it's a dirty job, so Dominic was keen to get it out of the way first
18:28The plan for today was, the marble guy is, everybody's got to get out and let him do his thing
18:35But it's all gone a bit peaked on
18:37The grinder for the floor marble can't come, he's, someone's ill
18:42So now we've got to basically shuffle it all around
18:45Although it's not ideal, with so much to do in a short space of time
18:50Dominic's cracking on with the next task
18:53I'm boarding this wall up here in the kitchen, rather than lose the day
18:58I just dab my finger
19:02And the guys are filling, sanding, it's getting there
19:06So, loads of little jobs
19:08Do you want to do a bit of this ceiling, fella?
19:10That's how good are you at balancing boards?
19:12Not great
19:14You can still adjust it later
19:16Here we go
19:22From the hotel she's staying in, Jasmine is keeping up to date on the latest developments
19:32Today, they're plasterboarding the kitchen, so that is ready for the plasterers to come in
19:38The plaster needs a few days to dry before we can paint it
19:42We've only got a week until the kitchen is arriving
19:48So all of this needs to be done before then
19:51Hola Juan
19:53Her priority is reworking the schedule
19:56Starting with rebooking Juan, the marble polisher
19:59Porque tenemos otras obras mañana
20:03Y probablemente es mejor si puedes
20:07Si puedes venir el lunes y martes
20:13Gracias
20:14Yes
20:15There are a lot of processes that are all dependent on one another
20:19So, I can actually have the head space to do the work that I need to do
20:24To get this project across the line
20:27Just by not being there and doing it remotely
20:29The problem is the kitchen is being delivered on Wednesday
20:35Unless he wants to come on the weekend
20:40I was actually amazed at how productive I was able to be
20:45Without people asking me different things every five seconds
20:48And I was able to focus a lot better
20:51My to-do list was going down instead of up
20:54It's now nearing the end of the family's mini break
20:58So before heading home, they're exploring the nearby seaside town of Cala de Mijas
21:10Hey, look at that little
21:13Hola
21:15La Gala de Mijas is a really buzzing place
21:19It's a very popular holiday resort
21:23And somewhere that lots of people really enjoy
21:26There's loads going on, there's a beautiful beach
21:29You can go and just enjoy feeling like you're on holiday
21:32Chocolate
21:33Oh Joy, that looks good
21:34Yummy
21:36Puedes mango y fresa, por fa
21:38Gracias
21:40This looks yummy
21:42Because the weather is so warm here
21:45We quite often get an ice cream
21:48When I think back to my childhood
21:50An ice cream was for only special occasions
21:53Very rarely when the ice cream van came around
21:56But living here
21:58I think we've been having quite a few ice creams
22:00But, you know, it'd be rude not to, wouldn't it?
22:02How's yours, kids?
22:05Yummy
22:07I think
22:09If I remember rightly from my last visits here
22:11It was built in around the 1500s
22:14And it used to be a pirate watchtower
22:17And there's this funny story about
22:19One night a pirate who tried to come ashore
22:23And instead of shooting him with bows and arrows
22:26They threw, like, hard loaves of bread at him
22:28And he ran away
22:30And he ran away
22:32I can never quite switch off entirely
22:35From what's going on back at home
22:37Because my phone never stops ringing, pinging
22:40And problems and decisions and this, that and the other
22:43But it is nice to just pretend for a minute
22:46That we're on holiday
22:48And have a nice little relaxing afternoon
22:51Do you like it here?
22:52Do you like it here?
22:53It is very pretty
22:55It's lovely, isn't it?
22:57I can't believe it's so warm, isn't it?
22:59The ice cream's melting so fast
23:01I think the break was really needed by everyone
23:05Probably even the builders
23:08They just could crack on with anything they needed to do
23:11So, yes, for the kids to have fun and be somewhere where they can just relax on their summer holidays
23:21For me, where I can be less stressed
23:24I think it was as much for them as it was for me
23:28After her time away off-site, Jasmine is rejoining the build in person
23:38First, she's checking in with the team working on the kitchen
23:42Where plastering has begun
23:44The ceiling and one wall are already nearly completed
23:47Oh!
23:49Oh, that's looking good, guys
23:51God, it's amazing the transformation it makes, isn't it?
23:55So, what is the plan?
23:56We'll protect the couple of needs
23:58And when we're finished
24:00Pop the rest of that wall up there and flatten that as much as we can
24:04Ready for tomorrow and then tomorrow will come
24:06That ceiling, that wall, that wall
24:08And then bits over there will all be done
24:09Those bits over there?
24:11Yeah
24:13There are now only three working days left before the new kitchen units arrive
24:17So, to prevent damaging or spoiling them
24:20Any job involving plaster, paint or other chemicals must be finished
24:23That includes prepping the marble floor
24:26So, I'm thinking if the floor polisher guy wants to come
24:31Would he be able to start in one area that's not in your way?
24:34I'm not joking, he'd be wasted
24:35Yeah
24:36As soon as there's a poor plaster, it's going to go in the air and it's going to be all open for him
24:40Tom said maybe get him to do it at the weekend on Saturday
24:43Let's try and figure something out
24:45I can't delay the kitchen, because otherwise I won't get the work top
24:50Because they all shut down for the summer
24:52The kitchen delivery deadline has become all the more important because of another complication that's arisen
25:00It's vital that the kitchen is ready on schedule
25:06Because we have got the work top company coming on the very last day before they close down for the summer
25:17So, if it's not done on that day, we will have to wait until after the summer to get our kitchen work top
25:25With a kitchen installation deadline they can't afford to miss, they can't slow down
25:29But they need to come up with a solution for getting the kitchen tiles polished too
25:34The kitchen has to come when it's coming
25:37Yeah
25:38There's no backup plan for that, otherwise we completely miss the window of getting the work top in
25:43Yeah
25:44He said he can come at the weekend
25:46Oh, happy days then
25:48But because the marble polisher can work at the weekend while they are off-site
25:53Dominic is having a rethink
25:54If he comes and does this side and concentrates on this side, then when we come in Monday
26:00We're going to be painting, cutting the electric sockets and things like that
26:05And hopefully he's finished this area and he's over there
26:09Because it's quite a messy process, that's the problem
26:11There is mess everywhere
26:13Having the plasterers here at the same time as the floor polisher
26:17It's not ideal really, because they need to be able to have the space available to do their work
26:25But we're trying to coordinate everything so that they can do one area at a time
26:32And then they can swap
26:34So in that respect, you know, we're finding solutions so that everyone can get their jobs done
26:39Moving on, next on Jasmine's to-do list is the sun terrace and the dining table
26:46We decided that we would try and make an alternative table top for up here
26:52To save having to buy a whole new set because all these chairs and the lounges and everything all go together
26:57So this nice wooden table was able to come up in pieces and be assembled up here
27:02And it's just a really nice natural wood
27:05I think it looks even better with a little bit of this varnish on it
27:09And it will just be really hard-wearing and durable
27:13It's actually quite therapeutic, relaxing this kind of thing
27:19To be up here and no one talking to me, no decisions to make, just doing this
27:25You could get quite into DIY
27:28Better late than never
27:30It's now been nearly two weeks since Jasmine has been project managing the renovation on her own
27:43In the kitchen the time-saving strategy she and Dominic came up with has been put into play
27:49We've resolved the marble and the plasterers
27:54They're working together now half the front room each
27:56It's working, they seem relatively happy
28:01Even today I didn't know they were going to plaster the whole lot
28:04So they've gone a little bit extra, so brilliant
28:07We will hit the target
28:10So the kitchen will be able to go in
28:12The good news continues for Jasmine
28:15With John's time away filming in Wales finally coming to an end
28:18I find it really difficult now being away for work
28:23And I sort of hate leaving Jazz and the kids and leaving Jazz with everything to do at the house
28:28But the plus side is to get home and sort of see the fruit of Jazz's hard work and stress is amazing
28:37And it is energising
28:39You kind of come home and you see what has changed at the house
28:42There's just so much going on that it's hard to keep on top of everything on my own
28:48So having John back is a huge help
28:51And it's also so nice to be able to have family time
28:56You know I think that's what keeps us going in between the highs and lows of the whole renovation project
29:04Is when we can get together and do things as a family
29:09So before returning to the renovation
29:12John's joining Jasmine and the children with one of their friends
29:15On a visit to a local dog rescue centre
29:18Which as dog owners themselves, they're keen to support
29:21We're all animal lovers
29:23Although I have to say
29:25I'm slightly nervous that the kids are going to want to take another dog home
29:28It's not the right time for us because we're living on construction sites right now
29:35Joy's friend Asha is tagging along with us as well
29:39The kids are just desperate to come and walk the dogs
29:43Morning! Hello!
29:44Even though they're not adopting right now
29:46The family have offered their help to exercise the dogs on a voluntary basis
29:51Welcoming them is the rescue centre's president Susie
29:54I tell you what, would you like to see a new puppy that's just arrived?
29:57Yes
29:58Yeah?
29:59Carlos will take you in there
30:00We'll catch up with you in a moment
30:02Lovely!
30:03So how long have you been running this place?
30:05About three years
30:07But I've been a volunteer here for about 23 years
30:10Really? How long has the charity been going?
30:1233 years
30:14How many dogs have you got in there?
30:16We've got about 150 at the moment
30:19Yes
30:20Do the dogs come from mainly the streets?
30:23Dogs that are found on the streets?
30:24Yeah, all the dogs here, all but a few, are just abandoned
30:27We find them hanging on trees, we find them in rubbish bins, we find them in sacks and things like that
30:32We never put a dog to sleep
30:34Unless it's terminally ill and we can't do another thing about it
30:37And believe me, we bend over backwards to make these dogs better
30:40If a family like ours wanted to adopt a dog, what's the criteria?
30:43What do you look for in a family?
30:44Well, we always ask you to come and see the dogs first
30:48I would say half of the time, the dog you think you want in your head isn't the dog you really need
30:52So it's always better to come here, meet the dog, take them for a walk
30:56Then you can get to see the personality, then you'll see, oh that is the dog for us
31:04They're new arrivals
31:05These dogs are being kept separate from the others, so they can be put on a controlled diet to feed them back up to a healthy weight
31:13Oh they're super hungry, the problem is their tummies will just be tiny because they're not used to eating
31:19So we can only give them little bits at a time, go on baby
31:23We're going to rehabilitate these, we're going to get them well and we're going to find new homes for them
31:28And when you've done that it makes everything all worthwhile at the end of it
31:31Yeah, it's amazing work that you do
31:34Thank you, we're proud of it
31:38Because we can see the transformation, I know
31:41I know
31:50To get a taste of what it's like being a voluntary dog walker, Jasmine and John have been paired up with two of the centre's residents
31:57Clancy and Summer
31:58And Summer
32:00He's a good boy
32:01Yes
32:03Summer
32:05Summer's such a pretty name
32:20He's happy
32:21Oh, look at you
32:24Yes
32:25The dogs love the water, especially on a hot day like this
32:29You're living your best life
32:31Now you've given me a little shower
32:34I think the dogs are ready now to head back
32:38There were two lovely dogs that were just sweet-natured
32:43Just need someone to give them some TLC
32:47Munch
32:49No, Munch
32:51There's a dog in there called Munch
32:53And annoyingly has slightly stolen my heart
32:58Do you need someone to rescue you?
33:00Going into the evening
33:02I should be thinking about what we're doing for the renovation tomorrow
33:05But I'll probably be thinking about what Munch is doing here and how much Munch would benefit from a loving family like ours
33:12But I'm not sure the house is ready for another big dog yet
33:15There's a hundred and fifty dogs or so in there all looking for a home
33:24You know, it's quite upsetting to see them all
33:28Every single one of them, you know, looking at you like pick me, pick me, pick me
33:32These wonderful people are picking up the pieces of all these poor dogs that someone else has abandoned or abused
33:38I'm glad we came and I think we'll come back again
33:47The summer Sun is shining on the Costa del Sol and it's a big day for Jasmine and the renovation team
34:05The new kitchen units are arriving and inside everything is primed for their installation
34:12Seeing the space where the kitchen is going to go now it's all been painted and it's starting to look more like a liveable space
34:21It's great and the kitchen's been delivered
34:24I think it's gonna look amazing
34:27I can't wait to get it installed
34:30So it seems like everything is falling into place
34:33Is that the whole kitchen?
34:36No, there's still more coming
34:38Oh look, the tall columns just fit
34:40It's so nice to see the kitchen coming together
34:45Because at one point
34:47When they ripped it all out, there was no floor
34:50There was no walls
34:52And no ceiling
34:54And it was kind of terrifying
34:56But step by step everything is coming together and being put in place
35:05Very exciting, it looks beautiful, it's almost better than I remember now I see it here in the house
35:14The handles are lovely, the colour is absolutely gorgeous
35:19I'm really looking forward to having a functional dishwasher again
35:23Because we haven't got one downstairs in the basement kitchenette
35:28And yeah, I can't wait
35:31I love my dishwasher
35:32The day also marks an achievement for Dominic and his builders
35:37They've taken an empty shell and constructed new walls and a ceiling all plastered and painted within a week
35:44We've hit the kitchen target, which was great, bit of stress
35:48A little bit of stress, so
35:49So it's all ready to go for them
35:52We've still got the splash backs
35:55The painting, the decorating
35:57Final touches
35:59Bits of skirting board
36:01They're all little jobs
36:03But because they're finishing jobs
36:05They're quite slow
36:07It's got to look perfect
36:09So, you know, we're getting there
36:12However, the pressure has now shifted onto the kitchen installers to keep to schedule
36:17The plan is that over the next two days they are going to fit the kitchen
36:22And the kitchen fitters have to finish the kitchen on time
36:28Because the worktop company's final day for measuring is in two days
36:36So they have to do it then in order for us to get the worktop fitted before they go off on their break
36:43So there's no margin for error at all
36:48With the worktop company's holiday deadline in mind
36:52Jasmine brings in kitchen designer Rebecca to run her installation team herself
36:59All the furniture's here
37:01As you can see, they arrived already assembled
37:04The guys are here now working
37:05And I've just been through with them the design so there's no question about what's on the plan and what's not on the plan
37:12Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly
37:15I'm sure it will
37:16Everything seems to be as it should be
37:18And tomorrow will be finished
37:20I'm kind of entrusting everything to the kitchen fitters and hoping they get it all right
37:26There's no reason why they shouldn't get it right because I've been through it enough times with Rebecca
37:31And she's very meticulous
37:36Leaving the kitchen installation to the person best place to manage the process
37:41Jasmine enlists John's help to focus on another key area of the build
37:46The top sun terrace
37:48Which they need to have finished in time for their housewarming party
37:51With some guests coming in a few weeks
37:53It's going to be really nice to have the sun terrace finished
37:55Because the house is south facing
37:57I've always envisaged that once the sun is off the garden
38:00We'll spend the evenings with the last bit of sun on the roof
38:04We've had some guests in the past
38:06And I've slightly always hankered that we could take them up there for an evening drink
38:10But now I feel like the space
38:12I feel like we're proud enough of that space
38:14To sit and happily have some drinks in the evening
38:16It was originally John's idea to transform part of the sun terrace into an Ibiza style lounge stroke chill-out zone
38:23But in his absence Jasmine's been making the design decisions
38:29It's another delivery to our house
38:31I mean I don't really order much
38:35I can't keep up with how much stuff Jazz has ordered that's arriving at the moment
38:39I don't look at our bank account
38:42I keep seeing boxes around the house
38:44I'm like what is that? What's that for?
38:46Why is that?
38:48Oh these are much smaller than I was hoping for
38:50Anyway, never mind
38:51Where's the end?
38:56I'm gonna ask, I'm gonna ask, this is a mess isn't it?
38:59Put it on here and untangle it first, look
39:01Oh my god
39:03Who's idea was it's about 100 feet of lights?
39:06And then they're all tangled up
39:09This is a disaster
39:13Surely they should have opened up easier than this
39:15This is going so badly
39:17I mean it's fine rolling out of the lights but we haven't actually got the, we haven't actually put the post up yet to hang them on
39:24It's not long until another one of Jasmine's purchases arrives
39:40To fit in with the bamboo covering she's put up on the wall, she's chosen soft furnishings with a similar beach club vibe
39:46Oh, look at that, they just expand
39:50Two in each, yes that's eight
39:52Yeah they love a vacuum bag, that's satisfying opening this
39:56That's so satisfying, they look nice
39:59This house needs storage just for all Jaz's cushions
40:01I have gone a bit overboard with cushions
40:05It's starting to shape up up here isn't it?
40:08Yeah it's good
40:10Having our roof terrace as a usable space, not just for laundry
40:16It will be really nice, it's just such a lovely spot
40:20Beautiful views of the mountains and all the surrounding greenery
40:24So yeah, I'm really happy
40:26Downstairs in the kitchen, work is progressing rapidly and after a day with no hitches, the fitters have downed tools
40:36So Jasmine and John are taking a sneak preview of the units that were once the showroom's display model
40:46Oh my gosh, it is better
40:49I love it
40:51Look at that
40:53Oh, it looks so nice
40:57Do you like it?
40:58Yeah, I like it
40:59Colour
41:00It looks better in our house than it did in the showroom
41:03It's way better than it did in the showroom
41:06Oh, it looks so nice
41:08All that's missing is the worktop
41:12It feels like quite a long time ago that we were looking around kitchen showrooms
41:15I vaguely remember being on crutches
41:18And probably not paying quite as much attention as I should do
41:21So I had forgotten what the kitchen really looked like
41:24So when the units had been fitted and we were sort of 70% there, it was impressive, it looked good
41:31I was like, wow, we made the right decision
41:33The colour is amazing
41:35It's beautiful
41:37I absolutely like
41:38It looks like the kitchen should be on target
41:42While up on the Sun Terrace, Jasmine and John's creation has finally come together
41:47It's not bad, is it out here? I mean, you could make so much more of it
41:52Be careful because it's full of dirty water
41:55Oh, God
41:59Now after adding a few finishing touches, it's time to find out if it meets expectations
42:06Finally!
42:08Yeah
42:10And you took out the washing line?
42:11I've always championed this roof terrace
42:13Yes
42:14You were always like, we'll never use it, it'll be too hot
42:15No, we'll use it every single day for hanging out laundry
42:16But you had that clever idea of the quick-release washing line
42:19So you're not just a pretty face, are you?
42:21Well, this is one of my favourite spaces in the house
42:23And I know that it's the one we've spent the least money on
42:25But that is, makes it slightly more satisfying
42:27Yeah, exactly
42:28I mean, to reuse all the old loungers that we got second-hand with that bundle of furniture and the table and eight chairs
42:42They're all perfectly fine
42:43And I know that it's the one we've spent the least money on
42:44But that is, makes it slightly more satisfying
42:46Yeah, exactly
42:48I mean, to reuse all the old loungers that we got second-hand with that bundle of furniture and the table and eight chairs
42:56They're all perfectly all right, just new cushions
42:59Upside from the table is a stroke of genius
43:02The wooden table top, I think, looks nice and rustic
43:06I'm actually really happy to be able to reuse the stuff that we already had
43:12And it still looks nice
43:15I love a fairy liner festival and I still think I could sneak some more in here in the next few weeks
43:19Well, knock yourself out
43:21Whatever floats your boat
43:23Actually, I think from the initial idea that you had, you wanted to make it like chill-out Ibiza
43:30And I was like, no, we'll never use it, let's just keep it as a laundry area
43:35It's kind of a happy medium, isn't it?
43:37Yeah, it is
43:38Because it's lovely
43:39Mm-hmm
43:40But we can still, it can still be practical
43:43Laundry
43:44I sound like I'm obsessed with laundry
43:46I mean
43:48Yeah
43:49Well, I'll openly admit that the speed at which you could dry clothes up here is amazing
43:53But this is way better
43:55Well done
43:56Well done you
43:57It would just be a laundry area if it was down to me, so it's good
44:09That's leprechaun green
44:11Beautiful colour, I love the colour
44:12It is though, I share, but
44:14But yeah, it's not, it's too bright
44:16Intensity at the moment, so close to the end
44:19Is ridiculous
44:22Well, if he doesn't do it on Thursday, it won't be done in time
44:25No, no
44:27Because he's only got Thursday in front, it's pushing it already
44:30I'm just having to leave it all in John's hands
44:35It just couldn't be worse timing, really
44:40If you do it, it'll be fine
44:43I think it's pretty touch and go
44:45As to whether everything will be finished on time
44:49For the housewarming party
44:50It's too close to call
44:51Very close to call
