00:00¡Gracias!
00:30¡Oh!
00:32Finally
00:34Oh, baby
00:38It's been such a pain, hasn't it, this driveway
00:41It's like giving birth
00:43Once it's over, you don't remember the bad bits
00:46You just think, oh look, this is our new baby
00:51I'm ready
00:52Well, I don't know if I am, actually
00:54Well, here's your weapon
00:55Ready as I'll ever be
01:00Hardcore harlemans
01:03Now that the glass doors off of the living room have arrived
01:08I'm really excited
01:10Yeah, one, two, three
01:14This is the dream
01:16This is what we hoped life in Spain would be like
01:21The frame is in the all way round
01:24I love doing things twice
01:26I just let one thing to be finished
01:28Ooh
01:30New windows in
01:31You know me
01:32As we head into the final month or so of the renovation
01:48Things are starting to come together
01:50The first floor is done
01:52The pool is working
01:54And the other spaces from phase two are close to completion
02:01Now working on phase three, which focuses on the ground floor
02:05Housing Jasmine and John's bedroom
02:07A lounge diner
02:09And a kitchen
02:13The demolition phase is well underway
02:15While he's currently away for work
02:17A few months ago
02:18John helped remove the wall to the living room
02:20And the kitchen has now also been ripped out
02:23And the wall on the entrance hall side quickly removed
02:26The most annoying thing about the new open plan space is that column
02:33It would just be so nice if it wasn't there
02:36While everyone involved has always assumed it's a load-bearing column that can't be removed
02:42Builder Quinn and the team have spotted something that should please Jasmine
02:46Pretty small, isn't it?
02:48Yeah, pretty small
02:49That's really small
02:50It's definitely a concrete column, but it's not very big
02:52There couldn't be a pillar out of brick
02:54It wouldn't hold any weight
02:55Maybe I have to get someone to have a look at it
02:58Because
02:59Yeah
03:00I definitely did not expect that to be brick
03:01I was told it was a concrete column there
03:03Definitely not
03:05Maybe I can get an engineer to have a look at it
03:08It looks like Jasmine might be able to get the completely open space she wants after all
03:14Oh my gosh
03:16Yeah, it's pretty chaotic
03:18How's it going?
03:19Yeah, it's going
03:20It's all going, isn't it?
03:22What we've discovered is this isn't actually a concrete column
03:26Huh?
03:27It's just brick
03:29Really?
03:30I think it might be a good idea if we get an engineer to come in
03:33And see if it's even necessary
03:34Because I've got a feeling it's not
03:36Oh my gosh
03:37So if we can get rid of that
03:38We can really open up the space
03:39I mean we all thought it was a column, didn't we?
03:41Yeah
03:42But
03:43It doesn't seem to be one
03:44It's just brick
03:45It's just brick
03:46Which I can't see
03:47That brick
03:48Supporting
03:49Being structural
03:50Because why would you do concrete columns everywhere else
03:51And just be
03:52Yeah
03:53Brick
03:54So what's holding the house up?
03:55Well, yeah
03:57Hope
03:58No, I'm joking
03:59There's two columns
04:00I really hope
04:02That we can get rid of that column
04:06There's clearly loads of work to be done in there
04:09And with the builders now very much occupying the main living space
04:13Jasmine and the family have moved downstairs
04:19I'm just making myself a bit of lunch
04:21And I'm down in the basement
04:24This is how we're living
04:27Literally
04:29The fridge
04:31Look
04:32I have to go through the plastic
04:34I have to fight through all the stuff down here
04:39Whoop
04:40All this
04:41And the fridge is in here
04:44But
04:46I shouldn't complain
04:47I'll just be happy when this door goes on
04:49I don't have to go through a plastic sheet anymore
04:52To get to the fridge
04:53Our plan was to finish everything down in the basement
05:01Then move down there
05:03So that the guys could move upstairs and start taking out the kitchen
05:07And doing all the work on the ground floor
05:09Everything here in the summer kind of closes down
05:12So you'll go down to like skeleton staff
05:15And for example the worktop guys
05:18They have the whole month of August off
05:21So if we don't get our kitchen in
05:26And the templates done for the worktop
05:28Before that cut-off date
05:30Then we will have no worktop for the entire summer
05:34That's why we're in such a rush to get it done
05:39With the kitchen now the priority and John away
05:42Jasmine's heading into Malaga City
05:44To choose a worktop from her preferred supplier
05:47I've come to the city of Malaga today
05:53Because I'm on the hunt for a kitchen worktop
05:56I think the worktop is possibly the most important decision
06:00You make in a kitchen
06:01Because it's the bit that you're looking at all the time
06:04When you're chopping
06:05You know it's on top of everything else
06:07So, yeah
06:09It's something that I wanted to make sure that I got right
06:22Kind of have in mind what I want
06:24I think I'm going to go for something quite light in colour
06:26Because the kitchen is on the north side of the house
06:29So I want it to be bright as bright as possible
06:32Since this worktop company works closely with the supplier of Jasmine's kitchen
06:38They have a sample of her cabinet doors on hand
06:41There's my door
06:42There it is
06:43And we can see different options and you can start playing with it
06:48I mean it looks really nice
06:58I just, I'm not that
06:59The feeling
07:00The feel of it
07:01It doesn't make me want to
07:03It's a different feel
07:04Lie down on it and just go, ooh
07:06Yeah
07:07Which some of the other ones do
07:09What are the price differences between natural stone or the other ones?
07:16Roughly would be, the standard countertop would be between 2,000 euros and 3,500 euros
07:26So it would be probably around 1,700 pounds to about 3,000 pounds
07:35Something like that
07:36Okay, so, and is that for a kitchen, based on a kitchen of my, size of my kitchen?
07:41Okay
07:42For example, this one in Silestone could be, is in a lower price
07:46So, probably is in the lower range of the, those prices
07:50I like this one a bit more now
07:51You like it?
07:52Yes
07:53I mean there's so many to choose from
07:59Yeah
08:00A lot of options, huh?
08:06Do you, do all your customers come in and go
08:09Oh, it's normal, people get crazy here, no worries
08:11Yeah
08:12Right, I'm gonna pick out my favorites and just put them next to it and then see
08:17Any, we, we're gonna give you, I'm gonna give you a small sample of each color that you like
08:21Okay
08:22And you're gonna bring it home and, and, and, yeah
08:24Start thinking about it, okay?
08:25Because you have a, different options
08:28Yeah
08:29I think I've found it a lot more difficult to actually choose one than I thought
08:34There are so many elements to think about
08:36It's the worktop, next to the doors, the door handles, the floor, the sink, the taps, the tiles
08:44You know, all of those things have got to work together, so it is important to make the right decision
08:49I think it was 2,000 euros, so about 1,700 pounds
08:55And 3,500 euros, so about 3,000 pounds, then that's quite a big difference
09:07Thank you very much for coming
09:09Thank you so much
09:10Hasta luego
09:11Gracias por venir
09:12Bye-bye
09:13Bye
09:14Bye
09:23The next day, it's back to the messy work on site
09:28Day 2 of the demolition and they're getting everything ready, Rebecca from the kitchen company is coming this afternoon
09:37So there's quite a lot to do
09:39Hi, you alright?
09:40Hey
09:41Oh wow
09:42Yeah I know
09:43It's vanishing quickly this wall isn't it?
09:44Yeah I know
09:45It's vanishing quickly this wall isn't it?
09:46It's going down quick, it's coming down
09:47Wow
09:48Definitely, I know
09:49It's just right in the way isn't it?
09:50It's a bit of an eyesore but, I've spoken to an engineer and he says those types of blocks, which we already thought, are not load-bearing and because the column doesn't go all the way through the house, it's not going to be a structural column. So, I do think we can, yeah, I think we can take it out.
10:05Oh my gosh, that's brilliant
10:08Which is just going to completely open this room up
10:10Look how much nicer that's going to be
10:12It's already, it's already looking so much brighter in here as well, so
10:15It's just going to transform this space
10:17It really is
10:18It's actually like you come through that front door
10:19It's just the first thing you see
10:20And it's all open and then that's right in the middle of your view
10:24We're very lucky that it isn't structural
10:26I mean you can do the honours if you want
10:28I need, I will do the honours actually, if that's cool
10:31Get kitted out
10:32Got my hair on
10:33Whatever I can do it
10:34That's really exciting
10:35Let's do it
10:36I'm ready
10:39Well
10:40I don't know if I am actually
10:41Well, here's your weapon
10:42But um
10:43Ready as I'll ever be
10:44Where should I aim for?
10:45I'd go for the middle or towards the top
10:47Towards the top
10:48It's er
10:55Quite strong isn't it?
10:56It's time to start smashing down some walls
11:06Ah
11:07It is so
11:08I've got one bicep
11:09It's going to be like huge
11:10And the other one's just
11:18That's it
11:23Good job
11:25It hasn't fallen down yet
11:26So
11:27Keep going?
11:28Yeah, if you want to keep going
11:29The top bit?
11:30Er, yeah, I'll go for the top bit
11:36Don't mess with me guys
11:37No
11:38Hardcore Harleman
11:48I just got rid of it
11:51With my own bare hands
11:53And it was quite satisfying
11:55It's completely changed the space in that room
12:00It just makes it a much better space
12:03I'm really happy
12:14It's another sunny day down on the Costa del Sol
12:18The kitchen wall and column have been successfully removed
12:23Just in time for Rebecca from the kitchen company's visit
12:27Okay
12:28Shall we do the easy bit first?
12:29Yeah, go on
12:30Okay, the plumbing
12:31So we're going to have hot, too cold
12:33Right, okay
12:34And also we're having a hot, boiling hot tap
12:36A boiling hot tap, okay
12:38Working with builder Quinn
12:40Rebecca is marking out all of the electrical, plumbing and appliance points
12:44To make sure Quinn is fully prepped for the kitchen installation
12:50And if you do two sockets that way, okay
12:52On the upright, yeah
12:53Okay
12:54And Jasmine also has some decisions to make
12:57Your lighting in your wall cabinets
12:59Do you want them all switched from one switch?
13:02Or do you want them switched from underneath?
13:05They'll have a remote?
13:06Oh, that's fun
13:09I think I underestimated how much there is to do
13:12Before the actual kitchen units go in
13:16We want to get the floor done
13:19All the electrics done
13:22Ceilings
13:23And all everything on this side of the room as well
13:26So the living area because it's open plan
13:28So all the windows done
13:30Basically everything needs to be finished
13:32I can visualise it exactly how I've seen it on the design
13:36I think it's going to look even better
13:39Now that this column is gone
13:41I think it will just be a fantastic big open space
13:46I think this is going to be perfect
13:48With Rebecca in the kitchen left in Quinn's capable hands
13:53And John still away on a work trip
13:55Jasmine heads into town to run a few errands
13:59But it's not long before she's needed back on site
14:04I've just been at the local council office
14:06Getting some paperwork done
14:08And I've had a call
14:10Saying that something's happened here
14:12But I don't know what it is
14:13So I'm obviously thinking the worst
14:15Like the house has fallen down or something
14:18After I took the column out
14:20Hello
14:22Hello
14:23How's it going?
14:24We've hit a pipe
14:25Because these pipes are very close to the top
14:28If you want to probably continue with marble
14:31We might have to get these pipes moved lower into the ground
14:34Because obviously marble by itself is about 3cm
14:37Yeah
14:38Which is not ideal
14:39Because it's just
14:40See how high it is?
14:41Yeah I can see
14:42So is it the plumber coming to
14:44I messaged him
14:45Yeah
14:46So when the plumber gets here
14:47I'll have a chat with him
14:48And see
14:49How easy it's going to be
14:51To actually move those pipes lower
14:53It's not ideal
14:54But it's nothing that's can't be done
14:57Okay
14:58Yeah speak to the plumber then
14:59And see
15:00These things happen when you're doing a refurb
15:01Yay
15:02Especially because you just don't
15:03You don't know what you're going to run into
15:05Alright
15:06Okay
15:07I'm getting used to all these
15:08Hiccups along the way
15:09It's a part of it I suppose
15:11Just it just means that everything's slightly more complex and takes a bit longer than expected
15:18Yeah
15:19I guess you're used to it
15:20Yeah
15:21Alright
15:22Well keep me posted
15:23I'll keep you posted and I'll let you know what the plumber says
15:24Thank you
15:25Okay cool
15:26And a few hours later the plumbers have been and there's an easy solution
15:33I don't know why I didn't realise this at the time
15:36But where they are is going to be underneath the kitchen units
15:41So even if we put the same marble as we've got in the rest of the house throughout the main kitchen
15:49And it just stops before those water pipes and we can maybe cover those with something else
15:54Just a thinner tile
15:55Then we don't have to do all that digging out and relocating all those water pipes
16:00No one's ever going to see it anyway it will be underneath the kitchen
16:03I mean it might just slightly mess with my head a little bit knowing that it's different tiles under there
16:09But I'm at this point I'm happy to let that go
16:13The next morning it's another sunny but busy day with loads going on
16:30The doors have arrived for the living room balcony
16:35I think they're probably quite heavy so I'm going to leave it to them
16:41Oh Josh, a bit more
16:47Despite having already taken out two walls and a column
16:51Opening the kitchen to the living room
16:53There is more to go
16:54Jasmine and John want to take out the walls of the terrace as well
16:58Replacing it with a series of sliding doors
17:01Look lovely don't they?
17:03Yeah they're nice windows they Josh
17:05Plus the way to do it quicker
17:07Oh
17:09I think he's done this before now
17:12It's great now that the glass doors off of the living room have arrived
17:18I'm really excited
17:21They're huge and I think when they're installed it's going to look amazing
17:26There are four doors in total costing nearly four and a half thousand pounds
17:31A pretty big investment
17:33Each just over a metre wide and nearly two and a half metres tall
17:38Because it was a festival last night a lot of the builders haven't come into work this morning
17:45So not everyone is here to help Carrie
17:49I think having all that lovely glass is going to be such an improvement on what the room looked like before
17:58We didn't want to take out the windows and doors that are there before the other ones were on site just in case
18:04But now they're here they can just get everything ready
18:11I mean I've had my feel of noise and dust
18:17But I'm going to have to suck it up for a few more days I think
18:20I'm hiding down in the basement trying to get on with other stuff
18:26Trying to get everything that the designer has put on the plans
18:32Delivered in time so there's just so many things going on
18:36I'll leave them to it and try and ignore the noise and the dust
18:40But before the current flooring in the living room becomes covered in debris
18:44There's a decision to be made
18:47We decided to try and match the original marble floor
18:52Take it and take it all the way through to the kitchen
18:54And so we got hold of a few samples to have a look at to decide which was the best
19:00So I think obviously that colour
19:04That one's out
19:05That's out isn't it
19:06I know some of the marble tiles have got a bit of that warmer colour but
19:11Yeah that's definitely out
19:12I think that's not right
19:14Yeah that's the clear winner isn't it
19:16I wonder
19:17Well once it's polished that will look like that
19:19Yeah I was going to say that
19:20And because we've got to polish the old floor
19:22Yes that's what I think
19:24Will that come up?
19:25Yeah that will come up a lot
19:26That's a lot
19:27There's 20, 30 years of dirt and flattening on that you know
19:30It will polish up to the same as this
19:32I think it will mould in really well
19:34I think it will be fine
19:35If you look at that one
19:36For instance
19:37There's hardly any difference between them two
19:40No exactly
19:41I mean that's already in there
19:43So
19:44I mean they're all different
19:45Every one is different
19:46That one's white
19:47That one next to it's
19:48Yeah
19:49Look at this
19:50Beige
19:51Yeah exactly
19:52It's grey that one
19:53Sometimes they're natural products
19:54Yeah
19:55That's why you don't pick them
19:56You know you don't sort through them
19:57You just lay them as they come
19:59The more it's there the more it looks
20:00It looks right doesn't it
20:01The more it's laid there
20:02It will be good
20:03Yeah
20:04Alright so we sorted on the floor
20:05I can order that then
20:06Yeah
20:07Okay
20:08Thank you
20:09No problem
20:10This marble is from a village called
20:12Makael in Almeria
20:13So it's a few hours drive away
20:15It's kind of local marble
20:17Which is why so many of the properties here have that same floor
20:23But it's used all over Europe
20:27It's a really, really beautiful marble product
20:30So I feel very lucky that we live so close to it
20:33And we can have it in our house
20:37With that decision made
20:38Dominic's team start work on removing the two sets of double doors
20:42That currently provide access to the terrace
20:47While Stephen the expert window fitter in the team
20:51Makes quick work of removing
20:53And then installing a new window in the kitchen
20:56That was delivered alongside the four doors
20:59And cost roughly 850 pounds
21:04With it quickly becoming one of the noisiest
21:06And dustiest days of the project so far
21:09Jasmine manages to escape to her regular dance exercise class
21:13And it seems she's really starting to get the hang of it
21:16I do love going to my exercise class
21:21Down on the Paseo
21:23Right in front of the beach
21:25It's what has kept me sane
21:27Over these last few months
21:29I can switch my phone off for an hour
21:31And just focus on the class
21:37It's a little bit of time out
21:41It's a respite from all the chaos here
21:44Invariably when I then finish the class
21:48And take my phone out of my bag
21:50I've got 16 million messages about various things
21:53And I get home to utter pandemonium
21:56Almost every time
21:58But at least I've had a little bit of time out from it
22:02While back at the house with the doors now removed
22:11Dominic and Stephen are taking on the task of bringing down the wall
22:15It's wobbly now
22:22Get over that side Ryan
22:25Just go down there
22:27Don't let it go totally
22:29Just sort of
22:30Because it's not as heavy as you think mate
22:32Go on then
22:34Yeah
22:35Yeah
22:36Don't get in the way
22:37You're going to let it go yeah?
22:38Yeah one
22:39Two
22:40Three
22:41How much is he thought of dead with your feet though is it?
22:46No it's all the bricks actually
22:48Yeah it's all the bricks
22:49There it is look beautiful
22:53And once the rubble is removed Jasmine's vision of a light filled open plan living space is really starting to take shape
23:11Oh my god
23:14Where is everyone?
23:16Oh my god
23:18That looks amazing
23:21Oh my god
23:26That's so worth doing
23:28It looks amazing
23:30I'm not going to start crying
23:31But I feel like I might
23:33It looks amazing
23:35For me so far
23:37That is one of the best
23:39Improvements
23:41In this house that we have done
23:43I love it
23:44You alright Dominic?
23:45Big enough hole in the wall
23:47It looks amazing
23:49It's going to be great isn't it?
23:50Yeah it's really good
23:51It's going to look fantastic
23:52That's one great thing in Spain that you can just take out
23:55Yeah
23:56In the UK you have to have lintels
23:58Yeah
23:59All sorts of hassle
24:00It's because of the way they're built you know here
24:01Yeah totally
24:02Yeah it's going to look lovely
24:04Oh thank you
24:05Once it's finished
24:07Yeah that would be fab
24:09Having avoided a dusty and noisy week of demolition in the kitchen and living room while abroad for work
24:28John's back for the weekend
24:30John's back for the weekend and treating the family to a few hours away from all the mess
24:37It's Friday night
24:39We have come down to the beach near our house for a barbecue and just to hang out now that the weather's so beautiful
24:45This is what it's all about living by the beach
24:50Kids how good an investment was this trolley?
24:52Yeah that's brilliant
24:55Now we can get even more stuff to drag to the beach with us
24:58We started doing it maybe once or twice a month coming after school and having a barbecue on the beach
25:06It's amazing I mean the kids love it and the reason we moved to Spain was to give them more outdoor life
25:13So lift the parasol up there we go and then put the lever down
25:18There we go
25:20That's great
25:22I mean genuinely there's a few times we've done this that I've had to sort of pinch myself and go this
25:27This is this is what it's all for this is
25:30This is it
25:34We got some really nice Spanish produce we're gonna barbecue some vegetables and some veggie sausages
25:39Can't get any better than this
25:41John loves to do a barbecue so we'll have our dinner down here and just chill
25:45Happy?
25:57Mmm this looks so good
25:59One mushroom
26:01Oh look there's a hot dog out of nowhere there you go
26:03Thank you
26:05Thanks
26:09Yummy
26:10What me or the hot dog?
26:11What me or the hot dog?
26:12The water was absolutely divine
26:24Absolutely amazing
26:27I love swimming in the sea
26:29It just makes you feel that you're part of something much bigger
26:46To be able to have the opportunity to just stroll down five minutes
26:50Get in the water have a barbecue with the kids just spend time together it's this is the dream
27:06This is what we hoped life in Spain would be like
27:10And once everything's finished in the house we don't have to worry about that anymore we'll be doing this all the time
27:17And I'll be able to switch off without thinking oh I must order those tiles or I must make a decision on that floor
27:25It'll be like this all the time
27:28That's what I'm hoping
27:29With the demolition for phase three now complete Jasmine is eager to shift her focus to the next stage
27:53Interior designer Laura who previously visited the property has been developing ideas with her team
28:00Alongside one of them Olivia she's now ready to present their concepts
28:05Hi Laura
28:07Hi Luke
28:09How's it all going out there?
28:11It's going well we're standing in our living room now we're missing a wall there
28:16So that's all gone that's been taken out
28:18I'm sure it'll all come together soon but look we're really excited to chat to you today
28:23The design team's done some fantastic work
28:26Once we'd explored the layout actions and reviewed the inspiration images
28:30Here we have your final design
28:34Oh it looks nice
28:37So there's the table behind the sofa
28:41Yeah that looks lovely
28:43So we're talking about the sofa being across the middle of the room here
28:49So that'll be the living room zone
28:51And then back there the dining table
28:55It's really nice to do a sort of gallery wall with art and collectibles and bits and pieces
29:01You know and actually now that central column is out in the window it's going to flood even more light
29:07Yeah great
29:08To be honest until the last day or two
29:11Well I mean until today you couldn't really visualise what this room space empty might look like
29:17But now it is, now that wall and that window have gone and now we see the plans
29:22Yeah it's good
29:24Oh that is beautiful
29:26I love that colour it's so nice
29:31It's really good
29:33I think one of the tricks of painting the background dark is the TV if you do decide to have one in the room
29:40Actually blends into the background rather than it being a focal point which I think is a really clever and cost effective trick
29:46Yes it looks beautiful
29:49Can I just show you the final floor plan of it all coming together at the end?
29:53Yes please, oh god I can't wait for that day honestly
29:57Oh that looks great
30:00So this is the final Anna's 80 floor plan
30:03It looks amazing
30:05It will look even better in reality when it's finished
30:08Oh I can't wait
30:10Seems like we've got a mountain to climb
30:12Yeah, it will all come together really quickly at the end
30:17Renovation work is incredibly stressful
30:20There's always surprises but it will come together, you just gotta have faith
30:24Yeah it looks great
30:26Thank you so much, you have all been amazing
30:30I could not have done this without you
30:32And I have got a lot of shopping to do now
30:36To get everything, to put it all together
30:38But I really really can't thank you enough
30:43Yeah we're kind of drowning a little bit in stuff so being able to have you help us not drown and be our lifeguard is great
30:52Thank you so much, it looks amazing, bye
30:55Thanks so much
30:57Thank you, bye
30:59Bye
31:01Happy?
31:02Visualise it, yeah it was good
31:05If it turns out looking half as good as what it looks on those visuals, I'll be ecstatic
31:19It's Monday morning and there's a day or two of making good and preparation to be done before the huge 11m square window frame can be installed
31:28With plenty of people on site to deal with that
31:31Jasmine and John are upstairs finishing off another project that's been bubbling away in the background
31:37When we did Joy's bedroom makeover
31:40We sort of held our hands up and we basically ran out of time to do her sun terrace
31:43And yet the footprint of her sun terrace is huge so we were keen to kind of get it turned around now in time for the summer
31:52Finally all the bits that I'd ordered for out there have arrived
31:58And we made some time to assemble everything and put it all together
32:04So while she was at school, so it's great to be able to finally get that ticked off the list
32:10While Jasmine and John already had the outdoor furniture set bought a few weeks ago at a local supermarket for around 500 pounds
32:20Amongst other things they've added a water feature costing 120
32:24As well as an egg chair and day bed around 300 pounds each
32:32It's hot
32:35But
32:37It's done now
32:38It's a bit flimsy
32:41I've got to get a couple of extra screws to put into it
32:44But
32:46You know, it looks alright
32:51It's huge
32:54Oh my god
32:57It's giant
32:59So the idea behind Joy's balcony was to tie it all in with the rainforest theme in her bedroom
33:05So it's not completely rainforest but there's definitely a few touches like the rug
33:13And it all connects quite nicely
33:17While it's not matchy-matchy, it just works together
33:21And some of the textures in her bedroom meet some of the textures that are out on her terrace as well
33:27So I hope she'll like it
33:29Right, keep your eyes closed, step up now
33:34Keep coming, don't look up, keep your eyes closed
33:38That terrace, when we first came here to have a look around, the first thing that hit you was the smell
33:44Look at this
33:48Joy's gone now
33:50Joy's gone now
33:52It was like rotting drains, it was disgusting
33:56There was a dilapidated hot tub that was full of green slime and mosquito lava
34:04And yeah, it was hideous, it made me gag
34:08Is he actually throwing up?
34:09I don't know
34:10I mean it is quite gross
34:12Okay, you can open your eyes
34:14What do you think?
34:16I knew she'd go straight to the egg chair
34:18Is that what you've been wanting?
34:19Yes
34:20Do you like it Joy?
34:21It's nearly as good as the bedroom
34:38¿Es que lo que ha sido quieres?
34:39¡Sí!
34:41¡Hace lo que te gusta, Joy!
34:43Es lo que está bien como el bebo.
34:46No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
34:50¡Ah!
34:51¡Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
34:59Té You know what you like it, Joy!

37:35What's happening at the moment in the kitchen is all the preparation for floor, ceiling,
37:43plumbing, electrics, plastering, we're going to have a little bit of a false wall on that
37:50side.
37:51As you can see, it's not quite ready yet, but fingers crossed it will be very soon.
38:00Over at the other end of the room, preparations are being made to install the large front
38:05frame that will house the four glass doors to the terrace.
38:09It's a tricky job.
38:11The opening needs to be exactly the right size and straight and level all round.
38:17Over the course of the day, plenty of progress is made with many hands on site.
38:22But by the evening, they've run out of time to install the doors.
38:28The idea was to only take this wall out when the window or the doors to go in there had
38:39arrived, which they have arrived.
38:41I think there was a little bit of an oversight with installing it because we need that marble
38:46step before we can install it.
38:50So the marble company are rushing it through for us.
38:53But obviously, we still have to wait a little while.
38:59But yeah, I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep with this like this.
39:05The next morning, by the time Dominic makes it to site, the marble step is sorted, the frame
39:20installed and the door slotted in.
39:22But there's a problem.
39:24The two big doors never hit.
39:26They locked to each other, didn't they?
39:27And nothing else.
39:28The two big doors locked to each other.
39:30Yeah.
39:31It's the frame the wrong way round.
39:37The frame's the wrong way round, isn't it?
39:39Yeah.
39:40Got to be there.
39:41The frame is in the wrong way round, which is a pane in the bar.
39:46Well, to make it work with this, it's got to go round the other way.
39:50We need to take these doors out and then flip the frame round, which is not hard.
39:56And then it's the time we've lost that, you know, it's not a hard job.
40:01It's just the time.
40:02But we better get on with it.
40:04Yeah.
40:05Before we, let's triple check this before we move it.
40:09Hold on.
40:10Hold on.
40:13Now this one turned round would lock it in here.
40:17And that tooth would be there.
40:19I bet your handles would go on the outside, wouldn't they?
40:21Yeah.
40:22Got you.
40:23Yeah.
40:24It's definitely wrong.
40:25It's definitely flip it.
40:27Come on then.
40:29Who's the strongest?
40:31The four two and a half metre doors weighing nearly half a ton in total are shifted once
40:37again.
40:38That's it on there.
40:41Beautiful.
40:42Slide it along.
40:44This is, use your brains here, not your muscle.
40:47Yeah.
40:48Come on, that's it.
40:49Beautiful.
40:50Perfect.
40:51Take that out, Steve, and turn it round.
40:53The team remove, flip, and reinstall the frame.
40:57Round you go.
40:58Go on, mate.
40:59A bit further.
41:00Oh, go on, mate.
41:01Yeah, that's it.
41:02Watch that chandelier.
41:03That's all, mate.
41:04Go to you.
41:05I love doing things twice.
41:06If construction was easy, everybody would be doing it.
41:29Despite that slight miscalculation, progress is being made.
41:34While Jasmine's left without doors for another evening, the next step is to install them.
41:40Hopefully this will be our last night without having a wall or a door.
41:47Um, yeah.
41:50Not ideal.
41:53I would just let one thing to be finished.
41:57Anything, just one bit that I could take off my list.
42:01Oh.
42:02The next morning, Jasmine gets her wish, as after a couple of hours of work...
42:20Okay.
42:21Ooh.
42:22New windows in.
42:23Finamente.
42:24Isn't it?
42:25They're in.
42:26Oh, my gosh.
42:27Long time coming.
42:28It looks great.
42:29But the house is secure.
42:33There you go.
42:34That's good.
42:35They look really nice.
42:36Yeah, it was a good shout.
42:37The whole room, isn't it?
42:38It just opens up everything, doesn't it?
42:39Yeah.
42:40So it's lovely.
42:41It's great.
42:42A little bit of plaster.
42:43A little bit of...
42:44Yeah.
42:45A little kitchen.
42:46Only a few little tiny things left to do.
42:48That's it.
42:49Yeah, they were fun because they're like 120 kilos a piece.
42:54So...
42:55What?
42:56Each piece?
42:57Yeah, each glass bit.
42:58It's protected glass, isn't it?
43:00So you can't go straight through it.
43:02Oh, yeah.
43:03That's a good point.
43:04It's a proper gear, you know what I mean?
43:05Yeah.
43:06That's why they're so heavy.
43:07It's also the solar...
43:08Yeah.
43:09...glass, isn't it?
43:10They look really nice.
43:11I think it's...
43:12That is probably one of the biggest transformations, isn't it, of the whole renovation, is to open
43:18up that whole wall.
43:19And the sound rating on them is way higher than you used to have, you know?
43:24Looks really lovely.
43:25The previous ones were single glazed, and obviously because they had all that leading as
43:29well.
43:30Yeah.
43:31You just didn't get a nice aspect outside.
43:32Good, I can tick something off like this.
43:34It is.
43:35Psychological, that is.
43:36It is very much psychological.
43:37That's great.
43:38Yeah.
43:39All right, well, thank you so much.
43:40That's cool.
43:41I'll chat to you in a bit.
43:42Yeah, yeah, no problem.
43:43I think it actually completely transforms that space.
43:48Because when you walk in through the front door, you can already see straight out to the
43:53back.
43:54You can see the greenery.
43:55You feel like, you know, it's just inviting.
43:59So I think it is definitely worth having done that.
44:04And I think having that whole wall of glass is going to be lovely.
44:14Living in the basement, it's been really hard.
44:17Getting it finally finished and looking amazing is going to be superb.
44:22It's really important that Jaz and I try and grab little windows of time together when
44:27we can.
44:29My dad would probably flip his lid if he saw this.
44:33He's very much a perfectionist.
44:37Don't turn too early.
44:43It's looking amazing, isn't it?
44:45Good.
44:46Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that something like this would be a reality.
44:51Let's see it.
45:21There's no one that's me having never seen a couple of laps.
45:22Playing with me every time I'm losing, jeanptakron.
45:24There's no time that I'm losing.
45:25I'm leaning on the right!
45:26I wonder if I'm gonna make these things happen?
45:27Maybe that's my wife or your wife.
45:28Wouldn't lose my wife or never get that straight.
45:30Then you have to trust her.
45:31And I know I encourage you to have to be taboo.
45:33If we can have to trust her and I have them in the right,
45:34and that's what I want to be.
45:36So you're going to stop you.
45:37If I'm working on, I'm going to check out this book.
45:40And I have to be a nice morning!
45:41I'll have the decent map.
45:42If I'm looking at theulin's,
45:44I'm so probabilisticated by my secret,
