At just 142 centimetres tall, Barb Parkinson can barely see over the till, but what she
00:09
lacks in height, she makes up for in presence.
00:17
Two years ago, the 71-year-old, who doesn't drink and has never worked behind a bar, bought
00:22
the Yandaran Hotel with her daughter.
00:24
I don't know some of the cans that have got alcohol in it.
00:27
I'm not sure what sort of alcohol it is in.
00:29
I've got to read them up all.
00:31
The country pub just north of Bundaberg was meant to be her retirement plan, but the former
00:35
nurse is busier than ever.
00:38
There's nothing for her on a Tuesday when the delivery of alcohol comes through and she's
00:42
thrown around cartons.
00:43
She's a real goer, and you can't stop her.
00:47
The unlikely publican dubbed the Granny from the Yanni by her patrons has gained a following
00:52
online, attracting interstate and international attention.
00:56
As soon as they come walking through the door, it's like, Mum, quick, come, and take photos.
01:02
T-shirts have been made in her honour, and she even has her own cardboard cutout.
01:07
The second we met her, I felt like she was my Granny as well, honestly.
01:11
And so cute how she's got pink in her hair.
01:13
Patrons say the family has revitalised the 125-year-old pub.
01:18
And while Barb isn't overly keen on the spotlight, she believes her social media following is
01:23
a testament to the community.
01:25
They're like an extended family.
01:27
I worry about them if I haven't seen them.
01:29
I don't need to tell them if they go on holiday so I don't fret.
