00:01Well then you find that people from every corner of the world will buy
00:05something from you. I like to ask them where they're from you know and and you
00:09get to find some stories about why they're buying it and very often they
00:13have a Welsh connection if they're buying a dragon but yeah people from all over
00:17the world will buy these these items from us. It might be a bit on the cold
00:23side but the Sun is shining so where better to come than Cardiff's famous
00:26Christmas market. There are stalls from all across Wales selling their
00:29wares here in time for Christmas from jewellery to jam and cushions to cakes
00:33and we're taking a tour around as many of the stalls as we can this Christmas.
00:37We're looking at just a few of those craftier stalls today who say being a
00:41part of this entirely handmade market is a massive part of their year and they keep
00:46coming back. Fantastic yeah people like it people like stuff that's you know locally
00:52produced they like to know where it's come from and the fact that we are small
00:57businesses. Yeah it's an eclectic mix in Cardiff really
01:01is and you just see the best of people because you know people who do what we do
01:05believe me we work hard at it. Yeah it doesn't happen overnight so there's a
01:09lot of stuff goes on in the background before we get to the stage. The criteria to be on the
01:14Cardiff Christmas market is really stringent. You know it has to be used of your own work
01:20handmade you know and it's all quality work they don't accept to do bought in
01:27mass-produced warehouse stuff it's all small businesses that you do your own
01:31work and there are some very talented crafters here. Yeah they are we do a few
01:38summer ones and spring and summer fairs but Cardiff Christmas is a big one and you
01:45know it means that the work you do for months before then all pays off at
01:50Christmas hopefully with the weather yeah. The market has everything and these
01:54stalls offer those handy gifts for people that are completely unique and you
01:58won't find anywhere else. Right basically we have a mixture of crafts here so we do
02:03the ceramics which are slip cast ceramics fired ones then painted with acrylics
02:08and then given the gloss coat and then my wife makes the gonks and gonky gnomes she
02:14calls them because some people say they're gonks some say they're gnomes so gonky
02:17gnomes will do as long as they buy one and then she also does the pebble art which is
02:20on that side there which is a bit more fine stuff which my eyes won't allow me to do
02:25and she is quite talented on that so three different things we've got ceramics we've
02:30got the gonks and we've got the pebble art. Right it's a small business husband and
02:34wife but my husband is the designing and creating he makes it all and I come out
02:39and smile and sell it so it's all I mean the fretwork is the most that the bread and
02:47butter the main part of it but the woodturning which he loves we use reclaimed
02:51wood where we can get it and seems to go well yes it's our 12th year here.
