00:00South Wales is bursting with different Christmas things to be getting up to.
00:07We've already seen plenty of them so far this year but with Christmas creeping closer and closer
00:12we're going to take a last-minute look at everything you might not have gotten up to yet
00:16and what you can still squeeze in before the big day.
00:20Everyone is looking for those magical Christmas things to be getting up to
00:23so we'll take a look at the very best of some of the slightly left-field things that you can be
00:27doing this year to get those last-minute Christmas memories locked in.
00:33Of course Cardiff just feels like a Christmas capital and all of those big Christmas things
00:37they're hosting are ongoing right through until Christmas with some even on until the new year.
00:42Winter Wonderland is on until the 5th of January so you can get all the hot chocolate drinking,
00:46marshmallow roasting and castle ice skating in right through up until the kids go back to school.
00:52Thousands of people have visited so far with thousands more planning on heading along.
00:56The rides, food stalls, bar area and all the attractions
00:59are there waiting only closing on the big day and boxing day.
01:04And it's the same story for Bute Park's Christmas light trail which will be staying open
01:08all the way through until New Year's on the 31st.
01:11It features original pieces of music, light shows and even food and drink
01:15for those looking to do something a little more magical this year.
01:21Of course another one of Cardiff's most important Christmas attractions
01:24is their Christmas market which is always a hit and always makes the top 10 list of the
01:29best markets around the UK. It's almost all homemade and sourced locally and gives you
01:33the best chance to get those last-minute unique gifts for everyone on your list.
01:39Outside of Cardiff there are plenty of things to be doing right up until the big day with a
01:43number of ice skating and fairground type places to visit around South Wales this festive season.
01:49Caerphilly are hosting their annual Caerphilly on Ice event with rides, food, drink, attractions
01:54and undercover ice skating just by the grounds of Caerphilly Castle. Plus for those without
01:59bags of time before the big day, it's staying open all the way through to the 4th of January.
02:06And Newport is also getting in the action for the first time ever with their own proper ice skating
02:11rink right in the heart of the city centre. It's got the usual food, drinks, rides, sweets,
02:17funfair games and all just a minute's walk from Friars Walk.
02:23One that might be a little bit different is taking place here in Killian. The village is
02:27steeped in history with the Roman amphitheatre behind me, the barracks and the museum dedicated
02:31to all things Roman. This Christmas they're celebrating like they used to back, back,
02:36back in the day with a Saturnalia celebration. It's an ancient tradition which will have helped
02:42inspire some modern Christmas traditions today. It's open daily throughout the Christmas holidays
02:46except for the 24th, 25th and 26th and promises a very unique look on Christmas while learning
02:52about how they used to do it. So when in Killian, do as the Romans do.
