00:09Nicki Minaj made headlines worldwide after delivering a five-minute address at the United Nations on November 18th.
00:16Speaking from a podium flanked by American and UN flags, she called the crisis in Nigeria a moral emergency,

00:25The event, titled, Combating Religious Violence and the Killing of Christians in Nigeria,
00:31was hosted by the U.S. Mission to the UN and organized by Ambassador Michael Waltz.
00:37Nicki began by thanking Ambassador Waltz for the invitation and expressing nervousness.
00:42She then pivoted to gratitude, adding,
00:44I would like to thank President Donald Trump for prioritizing this issue and for his leadership
00:48in calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria.

01:30It's about uniting humanity, she said.

01:49Nigeria's ongoing religious violence has been one of Africa's most severe humanitarian challenges for over a decade.
01:56While extremist groups are largely to blame,
01:59officials note the violence also affects Muslims and is tied to poverty and land disputes.
