00:01Cam Newton said this Patriots team is fool's gold.
00:03Is there any possibility he's right?
00:06See how he phrased this?
00:07Is there any possibility he's right?
00:08Yeah, I don't think he is.
00:10Okay, is there any possibility?
00:11Is there any possibility?
00:12No possibility?
00:13No possibility.
00:14I don't think there's any possibility that the team's not at least good.
00:17You have been gotten to.
00:18There's no possibility this is fool's gold, Maz?
00:21I have my hand up.
00:22I'm waiting to be called.
00:23It's you.
00:24I guess there's a possibility.
00:25All right.
00:27Now that we've moved past that.
00:29So you guys kind of came at me a little bit earlier in the season at the very beginning.
00:35You guys will tell you I wasn't necessarily a believer.
00:38Oh, this is true.
00:39Yep.
00:39You know, I didn't love a lot of the stuff that I saw during the summer at camp.
00:43I certainly didn't love much of what I saw during the preseason.
00:46And then they opened with an absolute stink bomb against the terrible Raiders team.
00:52So it took me a few months to get here.
00:56You asking me, is it fool's gold?
00:58Like, are they good?
00:59Are they a playoff worthy team?
01:01And in the 2025 NFL season, is this not one of the best?
01:04Are they not one of the best seven teams in the AFC?
01:06No, I don't think it's possible that they're not one of the best seven teams in the conference.
01:10It's taken me a while to get there, but I'm here.
01:12Okay.
01:13Okay.
01:14I think the question is, are they a Super Bowl contender?
01:16You know, that might be strong Super Bowl contender.
01:20But again, I'm going to look around the league and ask you, which team can they not compete with?
01:26So I don't think it is strong at all.
01:27I think there, as I told you two weeks ago, it's, you know, will they be a Super Bowl?
01:32They are a Super Bowl contender.
01:33When you have a number one seed heading into Thanksgiving, you're a Super Bowl contender just by the very nature of the structure of the league.
01:42The yeah, but is the thing that is definitely being held against them the most by far is the schedule, even more than the roster, I think, which is, I think, a mistake.
01:50As you used to tell me, Paul, and it turns out, you're right.
01:55Wow, if I could just bottle that one up, Jimmy.
01:57I'm going to give it to you.
01:58I'm fair like this.
01:59When it turns out, you're right, you're right.
02:01If you're wrong, you're wrong.
02:02Win some, lose some.
02:03You used to tell me about the schedule.
02:05We used to be very big into the Patriots.
02:07You know, not being battled.
02:08Yeah, the road and not being battle tested and never getting any stiff competition.
02:12And then they get into the playoffs and they face a big, tough physical team like, say, Baltimore or Denver some of those years.
02:18And they weren't hardened for it.
02:19And that's, you know, the schedule worked against them some of those years.
02:24And I, well, after looking at the research, it really, you're benefited more by having an easy schedule than you are a hard one.
02:34Because easy schedules, if you're good, lead to home playoff games and buys and all those things.
02:39And you'd rather be that team with a soft schedule than be on the road in the playoffs with a hard schedule.
02:43Right?
02:43Simple as that.
02:44Yeah.
02:44Now, would I rather be at home having beaten a lot of good teams?
02:49Sure.
02:50You know, but yeah, it's hard to do.
02:51If the tradeoff of the easy schedule is to ensure home games and buys and whatnot, yes, sign me up.
