Matt e Ross Duffer, ideatori e produttori della serie cult Stranger Things, parlano del finale della quinta e ultima stagione, in arrivo il 27 novembre 2025 su Netflix. I fratelli descrivono l’atto conclusivo come “agrodolce” e spiegano che, nonostante molti elementi della serie siano cambiati nel corso degli anni, l’idea per gli ultimi dieci minuti è rimasta immutata fin dall’inizio. Raccontano inoltre l’emozione dell’ultimo giorno di riprese, quando cast e troupe, i protagonisti Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo e molti altri, hanno faticato a salutare per sempre i propri personaggi.

00:00You've been working on this show for over 10 years.

00:03I'm wondering, is the ending of season 5 the same as what you originally had in mind?

00:08Or has things changed along the way?

00:11The very ending, like the last 10 minutes, are something that we had planned many, many years ago.

00:18So that has sort of been our North Star.

00:20The actual season leading up to those final 10 minutes has constantly evolved and changed.

00:27So it's a little bit of both, but we did always know where we were headed.

00:33And that sort of, that North Star gave us sort of the confidence in this season.

00:40Because as long as we knew where we were headed, we felt okay.

00:43Even if we got lost in the midst of writing, we were always, well, that's where we're headed.

00:48And we just need to get there.

00:50And what's the best way to get there possible?

00:52But did, you know, when writing and working on season 1, did we think we were going to have five seasons of the show?

00:57And that it would take 10 years? Absolutely not.

01:00No.

01:01Can you guys describe the finale with one word?

01:04Can be out of context as well.

01:08Bittersweet, maybe?

01:10Alright, alright.

01:12I'd say epic, but, you know, but bittersweet works.

01:16Take me back to set on the last day of shooting.

01:18How was that like?

01:21Were you guys emotional?

01:23Were the actors emotional?

01:24Who cried the most?

01:26I don't want to spoil who was there, but it was very emotional, really the whole day.

01:34But mostly, and there was crying on and off throughout the day.

01:40But really, as we got to that, the final shot, and we wrapped the last of our actors, that's when it really, I think, hit all of us.

01:51And just saying goodbye to both these characters, and more importantly, the actors.

01:58Obviously, we still see them, but we're not going to be working together.

02:01We're not going to be bringing these characters and this story to life together anymore.

02:04And I think we all knew it was time to move on and to let go, and it felt right.

02:10But at the same, that doesn't mean all these memories didn't come flooding back.

02:14And just the journey that we had been on, that only this sort of small group of people could really understand.

02:20So it was a very emotional day.
