00:00The third Global South Academic Forum concluded its activities in Shanghai,
00:05bringing together experts and academics from diverse regions
00:08to analyze the contemporary challenges of the Global South,
00:12discuss history and strengthen cooperation among countries of the Global South.
00:16A correspondent, Bruno Fassi, brings us more details.
00:21Shanghai hosted more than 250 specialists from 21 countries
00:26for the third edition of the Global South Academic Forum.
00:31The meeting highlighted the anti-fascist victory,
00:34the sacrifice of China and Russia,
00:37and reinforced the historical solidarity of the Global South
00:41reflected in shared discussions and projects.
00:45This collaboration, then, is a significant one in a sense that
00:48here you don't only have the Chinese, you've got Africans,
00:52Latin Americans, we have Europeans, Japanese, South Koreans
00:55and other people from this region who are here
00:59because they have a common goal of advancing our understanding
01:04of how we can improve the human condition.
01:07And this is what brings everybody here.
01:09So, by and large, this is a show of solidarity.
01:13It's a manifestation of collaboration.
01:16And we're looking forward to doing more with all these partners
01:19who are here from over 21 countries across the world.
01:22The forum facilitated the exchange of experience
01:27in family farming and technology,
01:30showing how cooperation with Chinese universities
01:33strengthens sustainable production,
01:36technological innovation,
01:38and the revitalization of rural communities.
01:41This is also important for the MSD,
01:47because the MSD here in China has established various partnerships
01:51with universities, especially the Agricultural University,
01:55in search of technologies so that we can advance
01:58in appropriate agricultural mechanization,
02:00in family farming, but also in bio-inputs
02:03that enhance the production of our crops.
02:10The battle of ideas, media concentration,
02:13cultural imperialism,
02:15and the challenges of artificial intelligence
02:19were discussed,
02:20underscoring the need to strengthen independent channels
02:24and content in the region.
02:26communications war, there are multiple fronts,
02:29like the battle of ideas,
02:30it's a very complicated concept, right?
02:32We're talking, one, not just about journalism
02:35or media in the traditional sense of the term.
02:38We're also talking about, say, TV shows.
02:41They're also part of communications in a larger sense.
02:43We're talking, for instance, about social media,
02:45of course, forms part of it,
02:46but we're talking about a variety of cultural products,
02:49all of which come under the sector of communications.
02:52And we need to think about that in those terms
02:54because the fundamental question before us
02:56is how are, especially young people,
02:59making sense of the world today, right?
03:01And that is through a variety of platforms
03:03which did not exist in the past
03:05and which are largely captured by the imperialist forces.
03:09The meeting concluded by highlighting
03:12the solidarity of the global self
03:14as a coordinated action,
03:17promoting the exchange of experience,
03:20innovation and collaboration
03:22among countries to build
03:24a more just and multipolar world order.
