Lachlan Young sentenced for the murder of Hannah McGuire

23-year-old Lachlan Young, was sentenced to 28 years in jail for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hannah McGuire on April 5, 2024 in a home they owned together at Sebastopol, 120km northwest of Melbourne.

00:04today's outcome is an important step in our journey towards healing.

00:08We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our family, friends and community

00:13for their unwavering support over the past 19 months.

00:17We could not have made it through without any of them.

00:20We would also like to thank everyone involved in the investigation and the judicial process,

00:24particularly Detective Senior Constable James Allen and Senior Crown Prosecutor Kirstie Churchills.

00:32Their professionalism, dedication and compassion have meant a great deal to us.

00:37As you can appreciate this has been an incredibly difficult ordeal.

00:41We now need time together as a family to process today's result.
