00:00But the fact is that right now, you know, this is what we have in Bangladesh.
00:05And they have given a verdict.
00:07Elections are slated for early February next year.
00:11There is no, now I think with this verdict, there is no chance that Sheikh Hasina can go back to Bangladesh before the election.
00:18And Mohd. Yunus has already said that Army League will not be part of the next elections.
00:24So this just solidifies the point.
00:26They've been weaponized there with former judges and many judges have been removed.
00:31And the interim government has put in their own people there.
00:36So nobody is surprised by this verdict.
00:38And I think it means that now the Awami League has to decide whether they will carry on the struggle or they keep quiet, which I doubt very much.
00:50I think the struggle will go on and the verdict will not be accepted by the Awami League.
00:56So what's your assessment of this sentence and this verdict?
01:01As you know, Bangladesh, ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to death by the ICT.
01:10This is the verdict.
01:11She was found guilty on charges of crimes against humanity.
01:14The tribunal which was constituted to try genocidal officials of Pakistan Army and their collaborators during the time of 1971 is now misused, has been misused by the interim regime.
01:29I say misused because the tribunal didn't have the mandate to try any other criminal case but charges of genocide during the time of 1971.
01:41This government has brought some amendments into the law for which they actually had no legal authority.
01:48The constitution only allows the parliament to pass amendments to laws.
01:53They are an interim government.
01:55They brought these amendments hastily just to include the riot situation of 2024 and try Sheikh Hasina and the senior leadership of Awami League and convict them before the next election.
02:09So it's a plot to exclude Awami League as much as possible from the next upcoming election, which they want to hold in a one-sided manner.
02:18So they know that the verdict cannot be executable because she is not in their custody.
02:28They know that even the home minister is not there.
02:32They have already turned the other accused, the inspector general of police, into the state's witness.
02:40So the whole process was sparse.
02:44And we, of course, reject this verdict.
02:47Right, of course, there's also this very big aspect of the international community, especially the government of India.
02:52What sort of expectations are there?
02:56Sir, could you repeat that question again?
02:58I just want to ask you what you think the role of the international community is, specifically India.
03:03You see, they are trying to finger point at India for giving our leader shelter.
03:09It's not just that India has given our leaders shelter.
03:14Many of our colleagues have gone to other countries, France, UK, USA, and many other, Australia, for example.
03:21And they have obtained asylum in these countries.
03:24So many countries in the world do recognize what is happening in Bangladesh.
03:30That the country is in the grip of an extremist group.
03:34And there is a wholesale persecution of secular liberal political leaders and activists.
03:42So India has given shelter to our leader, but other countries have also opened their door for many of our colleagues.
03:51But these lot want to create as much trouble as possible with India.
03:55Because they've already declared that ISI, Pakistan are...
