00:16intervention in the country.

00:27to strengthen the health response of indigenous communities.
00:35And international organizations have warned that Sudan is experiencing an unprecedented
00:40crisis in which more than half of the population requires emergency humanitarian aid.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:51I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:55We begin with Anise.
01:08We begin with Mexico.
01:09The government dismissed statements by US President Donald Trump about military intervention in
01:14the country.
01:15During her morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum dismissed statements made by
01:19her US counterpart, assuring that they will not allow any type of foreign interference
01:24in the fight against criminal groups in the country.
01:27The president confirmed that in matters of security, the federal government will cooperate
01:32with the United States without subordination and with respect for territorial sovereignty.
01:37The Mexican head of state mentioned that only Mexican security forces can operate within
01:42the territory.
01:43In the conversations I have had with President Trump, by phone, he has suggested on several
01:56occasions, or has said, we offer you military intervention by the United States and Mexico.
02:07Whatever you need to combat criminal groups.
02:10But I have told him on every occasion that we can collaborate, they can help us with the
02:14information they have, but we operate on our territory.
02:23We do not accept intervention from any foreign government.
02:26I have told them this by phone.
02:28We have said it through the State Department, with Marco Rubio, and they have understood.
02:35In other news, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, received a Saudi Arabian
02:39Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House.
02:42On Tuesday, the President will meet with the Saudi Crown Prince in Washington as part of
02:47an official working visit ordered by the custodian of the two holy mosques, King Salman.
02:53It is expected that the parties will address issues related to cooperation agreements and
02:58the strengthening of various areas of common interest.
03:01The visit is considered a new chapter between the two nations, with the main objective of
03:05striving for a shared vision of the Middle East, its security and stability.
03:16In this meeting between Trump and bin Salman, the U.S. President reaffirmed his desire to
03:20talk to the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro for the third time.
03:24When asked by journalists, Trump acknowledged the interest of President Maduro in establishing
03:29a dialogue as well.
03:30However, Trump immediately proceeded to enumerate his complaints against Venezuela based on a false
03:35narrative that has raised tensions in the region marked by the recent deployment
03:40of U.S. military forces in the Caribbean as part of a supposed anti-drug operation.
03:45Also in the United States, the House of Representatives passed a bill on Tuesday to compel the Justice
03:56Department to release all its records related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
04:01The measure approved by an overwhelming majority of the House with only one vote against got another
04:08push over the weekend when President Donald Trump reversed his position and urged Republicans to support it.
04:15Hours later, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer requested unanimous consent to pass the measure in the
04:23upper chamber. After the bill is sent to the Senate, it will go straight to President Donald Trump to be signed into law.
04:31According to the documents already released, Epstein socialized with other millionaires and celebrities,
04:38such as President Trump, who attended his parties and took photos at social events.
04:43Now we go to Cuba. The foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced the United States government's lies
04:54and threats against Venezuela with the objective of destabilizing the peace in the Bolivarian nation
05:00and the region. The top Cuban diplomat expressed an axe. We denounce the lies of the U.S. State Department,
05:07which under the leadership of its corrupt and compulsive liar Secretary of State, attempts to justify
05:13a military aggression against Venezuela with false pretext. In plain sight of everyone and with the
05:19support of the media, they seek to normalize and legitimize the aggression against the sovereign nation.
05:25As a dishonest ploy, they attempt to involve the legitimate Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in drug
05:31trafficking and terrorism. Two serious international scourges that have only been promoted in this
05:37region by the United States government, its intelligence and drug agencies, and by individuals
05:42associated with all those politicians in Florida who call for attacks on the Venezuelan territory.
05:54And the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, NAM, through a communicate
05:59of the dangerous military escalation unfolding in the Caribbean and against Venezuela. The communique
06:06refers to the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, NAM, while reaffirming the content of
06:12its communique of September 19, 2025, and the special declaration of October 16, 2025, expresses its deep
06:21concern at the continued escalation of tensions in the Caribbean region in light of an increased military
06:28build-up of extra-regional forces in the region that now includes on top of assets with nuclear
06:34capability the presence of the world's largest aircraft carrier the USS Gerald R. Ford. The
06:40statement also reiterates the coordinating bureau of the non-aligned movement calls upon extra-regional
06:45powers to exercise maximum restraint, to avoid provocative statements as well as aggressive and
06:52inflammatory rhetoric, and to both cease any further hostile actions and desist once and for all
06:59from the irresponsible and reckless conduct, including the conduction of airstrikes against
07:05small fishermen boats in the Caribbean and now also the Pacific, and instead to resort to dialogue,
07:11diplomacy and multilateral mechanisms as the only sustainable path for addressing through peaceful
07:17means and cooperation, any issue of common interest or concern. And now we have a short break coming up,
07:27but first remember you can join us on TikTok at TeleStudio English where you'll find news in
07:31different formats, news updates and much more. We'll be right back, stay with us.
07:47Welcome back to From the South. In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro highlighted the country's
07:56scientific development during the Science, Technology and Innovation Awards ceremony in Carecas.
08:01From the Teresa Carreño Theater, 137 scientists received special recognition as part of the 20th
08:08National Science, Technology and Innovation Awards Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán from President Nicolás
08:15Maduro himself. In this regard, the president affirmed that Venezuela has an organized and
08:19articulated scientific community of more than 60,000 top-level scientists. On the other hand,
08:26the president emphasized that Venezuela is not thinking about manufacturing atomic bombs or weapons
08:31of mass destruction, but rather advancing the cure for different diseases, putting science at the
08:37service of life and the well-being of the people. Today we have a scientific community that is
08:46articulated, organized from 67,000 scientific men and women of the first level in the world in
08:57Venezuelan territory. In this context, in this event, President Nicolás Maduro also assured that Venezuela is on its
09:06way to becoming a major center of scientific creation, innovation and technology applied to life, peace and development.
09:13We are not thinking of creating atomic bombs to launch them or mass destruction weapons. No, we are thinking as how to heal cancer in its different ways. We are thinking of how to control dengue.
09:31chikungunya and chikungunya and we are doing it. We are thinking how to reverse sickness as diabetes.
09:46And also in Venezuela, churches in the country and the United States joined together in prayer for peace. A bi-national prayer for peace event was held at the
09:57Miraforz Palace attended by President Nicolás Maduro, who emphasized the spiritual unity of Christian churches. During the event, the head of state greeted the evangelical congregation and their pastors
10:09highlighting the role of churches as a source of strength for the nation.
10:14In this regard, the President recalled a letter sent by an American pastor
10:18who expressed support for joint prayers and concern about threats issued by the U.S. government.
10:24President Maduro emphasized that the purpose of the meeting is to reaffirm values of truth and life,
10:30as well as to strengthen the unity of the peoples around faith.
10:39The Evangelical and Christian churches are my refuge and strength in this time of tribulation for the nation.
10:49I called on them and they came to me.
10:52They called me and I have always been with you.
10:54We are more united than ever today, and I thank you, pastors, people of God and of Christ, for your spiritual support.
11:04It is the greatest of all. The spiritual power is the greatest power we can have.
11:11There is no other power that can do everything like spiritual power, which is the power of God.
11:21The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, also emphasized the unity of faith
11:26between the Venezuelan and American peoples in favor of peace.
11:29There are 40 million Latin Americans and Caribbean people living there,
11:38and many of them are members of Evangelical and Christian churches.
11:43They are radicalized with Christ and stand in solidarity with Venezuela.
11:49He tells me, I want to inform you officially that all the sister churches of our congregation in the United States
11:57have decided to join together in a large chain of prayer with churches in Venezuela tomorrow at 6 p.m.,
12:06the time in both countries.
12:08Today, precisely, Tuesday, November 18th,
12:13we are united in prayer with the churches of Venezuela and the United States.
12:27The 30th United Nations Climate Conference, COP30,
12:41focuses its debates on socio-environmental justice in the search for concrete actions
12:45to strengthen the health response of indigenous communities.
12:48The Forum's agenda for Tuesdays addresses the defense of indigenous rights in the heart of the Amazon
12:54and new climate narratives on a day when Brazil will encourage decisive action and community participation.
13:01Meanwhile, the panel, Indigenous Health in the Climate Agenda, Health, Territory and Socio-Environmental Justice,
13:07will examine how the lack of essential infrastructure aggravates the vulnerability of thousands of indigenous communities to climate change.
13:15The debates of this day are linked to the Belém Health Action Plan,
13:18a document that Brazil presented as a turning point in international climate policy.
13:24An elite interest from the Global North are using COP30 to promote green capitalism,
13:33but social movement activists are pushing back.
13:36Our correspondent, Brian Mir, has more.
13:40I'm in the Blue Zone.
13:42It's one of two huge conference areas that has been set up for COP30 here in Belém,
13:48and there's a lot of activities going on today.
13:51On the multilateral level, Brazil's President Lula is urging each participating nation to create a roadmap for the transition to renewable energy
14:01with clear-cut goals and delivery dates that everyone can agree on.
14:07Meanwhile, the social movements and the indigenous peoples who participated in the People's Climate Summit,
14:12an alternative event at the Federal University of Pará that ended on Sunday,
14:17are now doing everything they can to occupy space here within COP30
14:21and make their demands be heard by the rich and powerful who are running this conference.
14:29Capitalism, they say, is the main cause for the climate crisis.
14:33That's why it's important to make structural transitions to abandon the current production and consumption models
14:38in a path towards socialism.
14:41They think that's in direct conflict with the advocates of green capitalism,
14:46the oil and mining industry lobbyists who are here, for example,
14:51outnumbering indigenous participants by two to one in this year's COP30.
14:57And so they've been participating in different seminars and forums here within COP30,
15:02and tonight there's going to be a big press conference
15:05in which representatives of the People's Climate Summit
15:08will present the list of demands that was collectively created
15:12in a Democratic Assembly last Friday to the international press.
15:18After this report, we have a second show today coming up.

15:47Welcome back to From the South.
15:49International organizations have warned that Sudan is experiencing an unprecedented crisis
15:54in which more than half of the population requires emergency humanitarian aid.
15:58The organizations pointed out that international humanitarian law is being violated in Sudan
16:03amid displacement and also famine as a result of the conflict
16:07between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary support forces.
16:11The Danish Refugee Council reported that during this fallation,
16:16arrest, kidnappings and torture have been reported in that country.
16:20It should be noted that currently the fighting is concentrated in the capital of Sudan,
16:25Khartoum, and in the Darfur region, which is under control of the RSF.
16:35In other topics, the third Global South Academic Forum concluded its activities in Shanghai,
16:41bringing together experts and academics from diverse regions
16:44to analyze the contemporary challenges of the global South,
16:47discuss history and strengthen cooperation among countries of the global South.
16:52A correspondent in the country, Bruno Falzi, brings us more details.
16:57Shanghai hosted more than 250 specialists from 21 countries
17:02for the third edition of the Global South Academic Forum.
17:06The meeting highlighted the anti-fascist victory, the sacrifice of China and Russia,
17:13and reinforced the historical solidarity of the global South
17:16reflected in shared discussions and projects.
17:20This collaboration that is a significant one in the sense that here you don't only have the Chinese,
17:26we've got Africans, Latin Americans, we have Europeans, Japanese,
17:31South Koreans and other people from this region who are here because they have a common goal
17:36of advancing our understanding of how we can improve the human condition.
17:43And this is what brings everybody here.
17:45So, by and large, this is a show of solidarity.
17:49It's a manifestation of collaboration.
17:52And we're looking forward to doing more with all these partners who are here
17:55from over 21 countries across the world.
17:59The Forum facilitated the exchange of experience in family farming and technology,
18:05showing how cooperation with Chinese universities
18:09strengthens sustainable production, technological innovation,
18:13and the revitalization of rural communities.
18:18This is also important for the MSD,
18:23because the MSD here in China has established various partnerships with universities,
18:29especially the Agricultural University,
18:31in search of technologies so that we can advance an appropriate agricultural mechanization
18:36in family farming, but also in bio-inputs that enhance the production of our crops.
18:46The battle of ideas, media concentration, cultural imperialism,
18:51and the challenges of artificial intelligence were discursion,
18:56underscoring the need to strengthen independent channels and content in the region.
19:02In communications war, there are multiple fronts.
19:05Like the battle of ideas, it's a very complicated concept.
19:08We're talking, one, not just about journalism or media in the traditional sense of the term.
19:14We're also talking about, say, TV shows.
19:17They're also part of communications in a larger sense.
19:19We're talking, for instance, about social media, of course, forms part of it.
19:22But we're talking about a variety of cultural products,
19:24all of which come under the sector of communications.
19:28And we need to think about that in those terms,
19:30because the fundamental question before us is how are,
19:33especially young people, making sense of the world today.
19:37And that is through a variety of platforms which did not exist in the past
19:41and which are largely captured by the imperialist forces.
19:45The meeting concluded by highlighting the solidarity of the global south
19:50as a coordinated action, promoting the exchange of experience,
19:56innovation and collaboration among countries
19:59to build a more just and multipolar world order.
20:04Bruno Falsi, Shanghai, China, for Telesur.
20:09In other topics, Russia and the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
20:13have carried out over 97% of the payment operations in national currencies.
20:18During a meeting with the Russian organization,
20:21the Russian president, Vladimir Putin,
20:23stressed the importance of boosting national currencies constantly.
20:27He assured that trade operations between its members
20:29can allow the market and national currencies to grow.
20:33Regarding the work agenda,
20:34the head of state commented on the expansion of the payment infrastructure
20:38to continue working on the growth of the global economy
20:42with the aim of consolidating a multipolar world.
20:50In this context, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin,
20:53stressed the importance of consolidating the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
20:57as a pillar of the new multipolar world order
21:00in order to develop an inclusive international trade system.
21:05Dear Prime Minister,
21:07I am pleased to meet with you again in Moscow.

21:26helps the organization consolidate itself
