00:00Does the absence of America mean consensus will be easier to reach?
00:05I mean, oh, in other words, how relieved are you that the Americans aren't here?
00:12As you're aware, the G20 is a consensus-based organization.
00:17There are negotiations that are ongoing, robust,
00:20and we are hopeful that we will be able to find each other
00:24as the countries that are present to adopt the declaration.
00:28And be able to take the G20 to move forward.
00:34As to whether it will be easy or not,
00:37there is emerging kind of consensus within the group.
00:42But obviously, as you're aware, it's about 19 countries.
00:49It's not easy.
00:50There will always be sticking points that have to be ironed out
00:54during the negotiation process that is unfolding to end tomorrow.
00:57I mean, if you reach an agreement and a declaration,
01:02surely it can't be easy to implement that,
01:04especially when it comes to financing and the global financial infrastructure,
01:08if you have the richest country in the world looking the other way.
01:13Are you worried about that,
01:14that it will be a declaration that's going to go nowhere?
01:16Yeah, obviously, that's a concern.
01:20But as you are aware, other institutions of the UN are already paralyzed
01:27because of this withdrawal of the US in some of the international platforms.
01:33We think that the G20 should send a clear message
01:35that the world can move on with or without the US
01:39and that the implementation will not be easy.
01:43Obviously, it will not be a walk in the park.
01:46But when there is global consensus,
01:48we can be able to find persuasive means to enable the world to function
01:53and also for the US to be put into a line
01:57to be able to work with everyone across the globe
01:59because multilateral platforms is the only way that we can enable the world to function.
02:06It's not a unilateral platform.
02:09And this was identified after the Second World War.
02:12It has saved the world good.
02:14There is no reason now to move away from the key multilateral platforms
02:20that have saved the world.
02:21We are not disappointed.
02:23We believe that whichever country that can attend
02:26and it is represented at the right level,
02:29there is really nothing wrong.
02:31It's the nature of multilateral institutions.
02:33It has never even happened in the G20 itself
02:35that you'll find 100% attendance of heads of states.
02:39For whatever reasons, sometimes they attend,
02:41sometimes they don't attend,
02:42but they ensure that they send a delegation.
02:47The only difference with this one now
02:49is the absence of the US, which has never happened.
02:53But we will mark them absent and continue with the business.
