Director Jon M. Chu chats with THR at the 'Wicked: For Good' premiere in New York and reveals how he decided to place the two new songs and the stories they should tell.

00:00How did you decide where to put these new songs and what stories the songs should tell?

00:05Well, you know, what we knew in this story is that in movie one, it's pretty set.

00:09You have a lot of songs all packed in there, and it's supposed to be sort of structured in a fairy tale way.

00:15In movie two, all bets are off. The fairy tale is shattered, so we had to dig into these characters very deeply.

00:22What does it feel like to make a choice? What is the aftermath? What are the consequences?

00:26And so all that stuff is meaty, and it was either going to be scenes or a song.

00:30And Stephen Schwartz, you got him on your dial, so he's like, it's a song, and I'll show you what that is.

00:35So we were very lucky to have that kind of talent and genius on our movie.
