00:00Newly released surveillance images show the unidentified shooter of New York Jets cornerback
00:04Chris Boyd, who was shockingly shot earlier Sunday morning.
00:08The smiling suspect was caught on camera at the scene, where the 29-year-old NFL player
00:13was shot in the abdomen after leaving a trendy restaurant in Midtown Manhattan at about 2
00:18a.m. on November 16th.
00:20Boyd told police he'd been inside the Say Less Eatery on West 38th Street in the heart
00:25of Manhattan with two of his teammates, but that he had left moments before he was shot
00:29because he felt the quote, vibe inside was off, and he sensed tension, sources said.
00:34The street outside the Asian fusion restaurant, which is often teeming with celebrities, was
00:39crowded with people before gunshots were fired.
00:42Viral footage posted by the Instagram account Swish TV reveals the scene during an apparent
00:46scuffle outside the restaurant, when multiple shots were heard going off.
00:56It isn't clear if Boyd was the intended target, or if the man pictured in the surveillance
01:00footage knew him.
01:01According to police, the gunman fled the scene after the gunshots rang out.
01:05The suspect was last spotted wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multicolored
01:10sneakers, and carrying a black book bag.
01:13Meanwhile, the NFL player was lapsing in and out of consciousness before he was rushed to
01:18Bellevue Hospital, in critical but stable condition.
01:21The eatery apparently refused to turn over security footage it might have that could shed
01:25light on the lead up, sources said.
01:28In a statement to the Post, a spokesperson for the eatery said,
01:32Since the onset of the police investigation, we have been fully cooperative with law enforcement
01:36and shared the appropriate security footage to assist their inquiry.
01:40The player first came into the public eye for many last NFL season during his stint with
01:44the Houston Texans, over an embarrassing moment during a January game against the Kansas City
01:49Chiefs.
01:50Immediately after forcing a fumble, Boyd threw his helmet in celebration, without realizing
01:55that the Chiefs recovered the ball, before making his way to the sidelines and excitedly
01:59shoving one of his coaches in a moment of passion.
02:03Boyd later explained he made the celebration thinking he had forced a turnover.
02:06Instead, Boyd's actions earned him an unsportsmanlike conduct for removing his helmet, resulting
02:12in a 15-yard penalty in favor of the Chiefs, who came away with a field goal on the drive.
02:18Before his time at the Jets began earlier this year, Boyd played a season each with the Texans
02:22and the Arizona Cardinals.
02:25Ernest Quander, one of Boyd's closest friends whom he met while attending the University
02:29of Texas, told the Post that the 5'11 defensive back was quote,
02:33in good condition and doing really good following the shooting.
02:37Quander assured,
02:38He's a soldier, through tough times, he's fine, he's fine.
02:42of course.
02:47I'm the captain's side and I said well, figures are the same.
02:50I'm the captain of the Saskatchewan, who I was in the same place for as a kid.
02:53He says well, you know the stirring ground and he's fine.
02:54You know, I have a country that's not being held there, but I still feel like
02:57when I've got a country that's not being held there.
02:59I'm the captain of the Pisconsum.
