00:00I'm just appalled and enraged because what am I supposed to do with my future?
00:04We were put in the dark. We were ghosted and we were made to shut up.
00:08I did not shut up. I called the news and I let them know what they were doing with the school.
00:12The school sent an email that has just put loads of futures at stake.
00:16Not only have I been tossed around from school to school and I finally find a school that I enjoy
00:20and that I made friends in, you ripped it out from underneath me.
00:24What am I supposed to do? What are the seniors who were supposed to graduate this year supposed to do?
00:29We received an email about 1.30 in the afternoon. They decided to close the school down.
00:34I was absolutely enraged.
00:36The rogue email left students panicking and lost. Imagine their reaction to the reason for this.
00:41We don't know where the funding went. They say they are in amounts of debt.
00:46No parent was ever, ever communicated with this, but they're blaming it on low enrollment rates.
00:53Technically, you have to have 127 to 200 students. There was 121.
00:58But if they had the grant money, they would have not been able to close.
01:02Wait till you find out what the board did with the funding.
01:05The board misplaced the money or they pocketed it and I'm going to say it or swept it under the rug.
01:10And I literally said at the meeting, where did the money go?
01:13Because you're going to tell me that in three years that that school has been built,
01:17that you are three years into debt already.
01:20Even if there was a board meeting, they would have never been honest with us.
01:24And what you've heard so far is just the tip of the iceberg.
01:28I hope you all realize how horribly this has affected us.
01:33Not only am I scrambling to figure out something to do with the rest of my life,
01:37and not only am I scrambling with like what, less than two weeks to put together an entire portfolio,
01:42showing my skills so I can build out Lincoln Park, can't be as good as this school.
01:46Because I like this year.
01:48This is the future that the students could have had.
01:51MITCS is a Midland PA, a pathway charter school.
01:54You either can go directly to college or you can graduate with a technical degree.
02:00If they had continued this program, these kids would have graduated to go on to work for Google and Apple and Microsoft.
02:07I was flabbergasted and I was absolutely enraged because not only were we expecting to have a school to come back to,
02:15we don't have options.
02:17These kids are the future.
02:18There's one kid who broke my heart.
02:20She is graduating early and she's worried about where she's going to graduate because all she wants to do is have a career in art.
02:26These kids go to these pathway schools because they want to be themselves and their voices need to be heard.
02:33Like a hundred, a hundred thousand plus people saw me and I'm really thankful for and surprised by how supportive you are.
02:43And I thank you for that.
02:46I know these pathway schools do more than that.
02:48They give these kids financial freedom.
02:49They give them jobs that they can connect to for the rest of their lives.
02:52They are really fantastic human beings and they are really going to make a difference in this world.
02:58I know it for a fact.
02:59You know, you want change in the future?
03:02These kids are the change.
