Police have rescued a woman from the Parramatta River after she reportedly jumped in to escape an assault on the 12th November, 2025. 00:00Police made more than 700 arrests in just four days as part of a major statewide crackdown on
00:14domestic and family violence. Operation Amarok 12, which ran from the 12th to the 15th of
00:25November, targeted high-risk offenders across New South Wales and resulted in more than 1,600
00:32charges, alongside extensive bail and ADVO compliance checks.
00:37Officers also seized dozens of firearms and weapons during targeted searches. One incident
00:58involved a woman who reportedly jumped into the Parramatta River at Wentworth Point while fleeing
01:03an assault. Officers were called to Wentworth Place just after midnight, where a man told
01:14police a woman was in the water. She was unable to swim to shore, so an officer entered the river
01:20and brought her to safety. The man, known to her, was arrested and charged with multiple
01:26domestic violence offences before being refused bail. His arrest formed part of Operation Amarok 12,
01:33which ran for four days and targeted high-risk offenders.
01:39Police laid more than 1,600 charges and seized dozens of weapons as part of the blitz.
