01:18wild and wise ride
01:20it's been. Today
01:22we have a beauty
01:24to finish on. Now you know me
01:26of course, I'm Chrissie Swan and if you don't
01:28know me, I'm still Chrissie
01:30Swan, unfortunately. This
01:32show has been all about
01:34looking for smart
01:36fun, practical ways
01:38to help life
01:40tick along. Any laughs of course
01:42have come from
01:44this man, the gorgeous Ash Wicks.
01:49Started my own
01:50clap thing there. Let's kick off
01:52this finale
01:53in style. Our food
01:56adventurer, the
01:57inimitable Vincent
01:59Dim Sim Lim is out
02:01among the vineyards, lucky for
02:03some, exploring how changing
02:05weather and conditions affect
02:07the taste of grapes and
02:09how the right food can
02:11make that wine
02:13sing like a bird.
02:15Let's take a look.
02:16Today I'm here in
02:19Negambi, two hours north of Melbourne
02:21to check out Tyne Rose's
02:22Winery. I'm a chef and I know
02:24food. These guys, they know
02:25wines. Let's see what their wines
02:27can do for my recipes.
02:29So Tyne Rose's
02:30have made some award-winning
02:31wines and I'm here to meet the
02:33woman behind it, Narelle King.
02:37Wow, this place smells
02:38incredible.
02:39Yeah, it's good, isn't it?
02:40So how did you get into
02:40winemaking?
02:41I'm an accountant by trade.
02:42I had a bit of a midlife
02:43crisis, met a lovely lady,
02:45got me interested in wine
02:46and eventually I changed
02:47careers. Met my business
02:49partner, Don. We used to make
02:50wine for a Spanish company
02:51and one year when we came
02:53back, some friends suggested
02:54that we make Mediterranean
02:55grape varieties in central
02:56Victoria. We specialise in
02:58Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese,
03:00Tempranillo, Nebbiolo.
03:02And you guys have an award
03:03winning wine.
03:03Pinot Grigio won the best
03:05Pinot Grigio of the year for
03:06James Halliday's 2026 book.
03:08Oh, amazing.
03:09Congratulations.
03:09Yeah, it's been great.
03:13That's our 2025.
03:15It's fresh, it's citrusy.
03:17You can see some lovely fruit
03:18characters.
03:18I think I actually prefer this
03:19one. Yeah.
03:20Have you tried cooking with
03:21it? I've tried cooking and
03:22drinking next to it.
03:24I've got a recipe in mind
03:25that will be perfect for this
03:26wine. Me and Narelle are
03:28headed to Kennedy Vineyards in
03:29Heathcote, where they source
03:30grapes for some of their
03:31wines.
03:33Shoots are looking really
03:34beautiful.
03:34The beginnings of these
03:35little bunches will flower
03:36first week of November.
03:38A couple of weeks later, the
03:39berries will start to form.
03:40After that, it's just the
03:41growing season.
03:41They'll get all those ripe
03:43characters in the beginning of
03:44March.
03:45So when will they be in
03:47bottles?
03:47After we pick them in March,
03:49they go through the
03:49fermentation process and they
03:51mature and barrel for probably
03:5310 to 12 months.
03:54So in the shops the following
03:56year.
03:56So if you buy a bottle of
03:58wine in 2027 in March, you'll
04:01be drinking from these grapes?
04:03Yeah, pretty much.
04:03Wow.
04:04That is a huge process.
04:06Luckily, we don't need to wait
04:07two years for my cooking.
04:08We can go get some now.
04:09Well, we've got a fire pit down
04:11by the sheds.
04:11Okay, perfect.
04:12Let's go then.
04:12Okay.
04:13I'm going to put an Asian twist
04:15on a barbecue favourite,
04:16guaranteed to win over guests
04:17at the next cook-up.
04:19Rolling.
04:20We'll just wait for that
04:21gust.
04:22We're cooking amongst the
04:23vines in the windiest day
04:25ever.
04:26Today we're going to be making
04:27cumin lamb skewers.
04:29We've got beautiful wine here.
04:30Usually in Chinese cuisine, we
04:32actually use Shaoxing wine.
04:34I'm super excited to see how this
04:35compares.
04:36Garlic and ginger in the bowl.
04:39Just to get rid of the gaminess,
04:41add a splash of soy sauce
04:43into the mix.
04:45Tiny pinch of salt.
04:48Now we're going to add cumin.
04:49Cumin's going to further get rid
04:51of that gaminess from the lamb.
04:52Now we're going to hit it
04:53with meat velvet.
04:54This is going to tenderize.
04:55Oh my gosh.
04:56Oh, that went in my eye.
04:58This is going to tenderize
04:59the lamb.
05:00It's so windy today.
05:01Just a little bit in there.
05:03Add a splash of oil.
05:04This is going to keep it nice
05:05and moist when you're cooking
05:06it over the fire.
05:07I've been out in the vines.
05:09We just touched soil.
05:10So gloves to marinate.
05:13Massage it in.
05:15There shouldn't be any water
05:16down the bottom.
05:21Can we get that
05:22lined up open for us?
05:24Thank you.
05:25Now while I'm massaging,
05:27I'm going to slowly add the
05:28wine in.
05:29Because we're using cumin,
05:30I want to cut it with the
05:30fruity notes of the wine.
05:32So it's going to be nice and
05:33fresh.
05:33The meat velvet together with
05:35the wine is going to absorb
05:36all into the lamb.
05:38If you guys are skewering at
05:39home, you can use wooden,
05:40you can use metal,
05:40it doesn't matter.
05:41Go from the bottom up and
05:42skewer it straight through.
05:44Just like that.
05:46Super easy to whip out at a
05:47family barbecue.
05:51So hard to skewer.
05:54Just about that big.
05:55Whether you're in Turkey,
05:57Shanghai, Melbourne,
05:58almost every culture has a
06:00version of these.
06:01All right.
06:01These are looking pretty good
06:02and I can feel the fire
06:03heating up behind me.
06:04So let's get started
06:06grilling.
06:09Probably about three
06:09minutes on each side,
06:11depending on how hot the
06:11fire is.
06:13While the lamb's cooking,
06:14we're going to make the
06:14seasoning for the top.
06:16Chili flakes, cumin seeds,
06:19grind them up over the
06:20lamb.
06:22Dynasty five spice.
06:24Now we give it a flip.
06:25Woo.
06:26Woo.
06:26Woo.
06:26Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:27Woo.
06:28Woo.
06:29Woo.
06:29Woo.
06:29Woo.
06:29Woo.
06:29Woo.
06:30Woo.
06:30Woo.
06:30Woo.
06:31Woo.
06:31Woo.
06:31A little bit of oil
06:32to give it that shine.
06:34Lamb on the plate.
06:36This is a balancing act.
06:37We're going to top it off with
06:38a little bit more of that
06:39cumin and chili.
06:40Looks good, huh?
06:41Oh, my stars.
06:41It looks amazing.
06:42I'll trade you one skewer
06:43for a glass.
06:44That's a deal.
06:44There you go.
06:46Smells fantastic.
06:51How do you do this?
06:56Oh, yum.
06:59Oh, yeah.
06:59You know what?
07:00This might actually be better than my original.
07:03I don't know if it's the scenery out here.
07:05Wine in one hand, lamb skewer in another, in front of a fire.
07:09Yeah, yeah.
07:09It's great company.
07:10That's right.
07:12It's all the fresh air.
07:14Let's enjoy this.
07:15Thanks very much.
07:22Can I get a bit more vino?
07:24Yeah.
07:27Doesn't that look like a nice way to spend an afternoon?
07:30Vincent, out there among the vines, proving.
07:33Once again, he seems to get the best assignments on this show.
07:37Coming up, superannuation tips you can't afford to miss
07:41and how you could save thousands on home maintenance.
07:46Most of these tips are quick and won't cost you anything
07:49but could literally prevent a disaster in the future.
07:51So stick around, maybe pour yourself wine or a cup of tea.
07:55No judgment.
08:02Yay!
08:02Welcome back to Healthy, Wellbeing and Wise.
08:05It is time for one of my favourite parts of this whole show,
08:11a wardrobe makeover with our style queen, Chika Kiva.
08:16I love it when you come on because it just makes me happy.
08:20It makes everybody happy.
08:21Thank you.
08:21Well, do you know what?
08:22This beautiful woman, Suze, who was just the most gorgeous woman,
08:26she's someone who has lost herself.
08:27She's got three kids, she lives on a farm and pretty much her whole life
08:31is about everybody else except herself.
08:33That's a lot of work and a lot of other people's needs being put ahead of hers.
08:39And when I went into her wardrobe, which I will say shocked me
08:42because it was jam-packed full.
08:43Like you have never seen more stuff in your life.
08:45But she's not wearing any of it because A, it doesn't fit her
08:48or B, she doesn't know how to restyle it.
08:50And also too, if you walk into a room that's completely overwhelming,
08:52you just pick out the same thing every time.
08:55So that's what she was doing.
08:56So we had a lot of fun, sort of A, going through that,
08:59going through what she needed to get rid of
09:01and then doing a complete transformation on her,
09:04which was really, really special.
09:06And she's a good woman.
09:07I really adored her.
09:08I cannot wait for this.
09:11Let's enjoy it.
09:12Let's do it.
09:27Yoo-hoo!
09:27You must be Chika.
09:28I am.
09:29Hi, welcome.
09:30Now, I'm a bit excited about what we're doing today.
09:32Are you nervous?
09:33I am very nervous.
09:34What are we going to find?
09:35The wardrobe of doom.
09:37Okay.
09:38Hi, I'm Suze.
09:39I'm a 47-year-old mum of three.
09:42Everything's just gone a bit haywire.
09:45Perimenopausal symptoms, body shape changes.
09:49It's been a bit hard to cope with.
09:51Doing this was to sort of embrace that new part of my life.
09:55I feel a bit more like myself again, I guess.
09:57You ready for this?
09:59Oh, my goodness me.
10:02Suze!
10:03Wow.
10:03Clearly, I'm not very good at getting rid of things.
10:05I love that your husband's shoved right down the end.
10:07He doesn't care.
10:07Yeah, he wears something all the time.
10:09I don't even know where to begin.
10:10But you're neat.
10:11I'll say that.
10:11Okay, tell me, why are we doing this?
10:13Well, clearly I have a lot of clothes, which means sometimes that you then can't put things
10:18together because you've got so much there.
10:20But it's just that letting go of those things that don't fit and narrowing down what does work for me.
10:25I've definitely found that when I throw on combinations I would normally do in the past, things just don't feel like they used to.
10:35So I don't know whether that's me mentally or whether that's because my physical body has changed as well.
10:39I want my clothes to make me feel confident.
10:42Confident, comfortable, obviously, is important.
10:45But yeah, just confident to just make me feel uplifted sort of thing and ready to take on the day and just make me feel a bit more like myself again, I guess.
10:54Our biggest challenge is to probably delete some of these things.
10:57Yes.
10:57And then simplify it all and then put together great outfits that you can tie all back together and then layer up.
11:03If you're going out tonight for dinner with your husband, what would you pull out as your outfit?
11:07Probably a dress.
11:08What dress are we loving at the moment?
11:09That's very beautiful fabric.
11:10You can't know that one.
11:11No, you possibly know that one.
11:13It's beautiful, this one.
11:14This is one of my favourites too.
11:15It's something you can dress up and down.
11:17Absolutely.
11:17See, I love that you're even saying that.
11:19Colours.
11:19What are your favourite colours?
11:20I love blue.
11:21Pinks.
11:22Yep.
11:22My favourite colour's red, but I tend to find sometimes it can be a little bit harsh.
11:26Clean?
11:26It's not something I've sort of finished it into.
11:28Don't resonate with.
11:29Now, I can see you're wearing glasses.
11:30Yes.
11:30Do you always wear glasses?
11:32And do you like having fun glasses on your face?
11:34Like, do you like a bit of colour or are they the only ones you have?
11:36I must admit, glasses are what I put on to see.
11:41I don't, like, I like my glasses, but I don't think of it as a style accessory.
11:46But then I see people with really funky, cool glasses on and I think, oh, maybe that could be something that I could explore to actually use them as an accessory
11:55or, like, as a pop of colour or something like that.
11:58These are the only ones I have.
11:59I don't tend to necessarily change up my glasses.
12:02I don't sort of think of them as an accessory necessarily.
12:05And I think wearing some colour on your face when you're wearing a beautiful dress is a really nice way, particularly if you're not wearing lots of jewellery and things like that,
12:11that add some light and colour to your face.
12:13So would you be open to going down to Specsavers and having a look at a few in your hairs?
12:17Yeah.
12:17Because that could be quite fun.
12:18Yeah, it'd be a bit of fun.
12:19Let's just have some fun with it.
12:20That sounds like a great way to do it.
12:21Let's do that as our first port of call.
12:23Yes.
12:23And then we can work on the rest of this a bit later.
12:25But let's do the glasses first.
12:26That sounds good.
12:27Okay, perfect.
12:28All right.
12:30Oh, it's torture that we don't get to see the conclusion sooner, but it's also sort of delicious.
12:37You have to wait.
12:38Yes.
12:38And it's definitely worth it.
12:39Not very good at waiting, are you?
12:43You have no choice, sadly.
12:45The wardrobe magic will be revealed a bit later on in the show.
12:48Coming up next, No Dumb Questions.
12:51This one is all about deception.
12:54How do you know if someone's lying to you, telling porcupines?
12:58We've brought in an expert to tell us.
13:00That is after the break.
13:02That's not a lie.
13:03Come back.
13:04You're going to want to know this stuff.
13:06See you then.
13:07This segment is brought to you by Bob Jane T-Mart's Best Tire Price Guarantee.
13:20Welcome back to Healthy, Wealthy and Wise.
13:23Now, we've all told a little tiny fib here and there.
13:29But what about the big ones?
13:30How can you tell if someone's bluffing, dodging or just flat out lying to you?
13:37That is today's theme on No Dumb Questions.
13:41And I'm all ears because I can never tell when people are lying.
13:46Deception expert Stephen Van Aperen is the opposite of me.
13:51He knows exactly what to look for and he's here to set us all straight.
13:55My name is Stephen Van Aperen.
14:02I'm a deception detection expert and a behavioural analyst.
14:05And there are no dumb questions.
14:08Carlos M asks, how can you tell when someone is lying?
14:12Well, firstly, we need to break it down into three areas.
14:15Verbal, nonverbal and paralinguistic.
14:18I may be able to think of a lie, but can I effectively communicate that lie with believability and credibility?
14:24Secondly, I need to look at body language.
14:25We need to look for conflict or contradiction between what a person is saying and what their body language is displaying.
14:31Thirdly, paralinguistic, that is tone, pitch, voice modulation, response, latency, ums and ahs are all important.
14:39So we can't just look at one area.
14:40We have to combine all three.
14:42LA asks, is there a body language tell when someone's not being genuine on a date?
14:48Asking concealment, blocking behaviour.
14:50Blocking the mouth, knowing that those words were false.
14:53And touching the nose, which is a degree of releasing anxiety.
14:56Julia F asks, what's the most bizarre request you've ever received because of your vocation?
15:03I was once asked to polygraph test an employee as to whether or not he'd peed in his boss's cup.
15:10I did the polygraph test and the employee passed.
15:15Min JK asks, what's it like looking into a killer's eyes and knowing they're lying?
15:21I've worked on 89 homicide cases and two serial killer investigations.
15:24I remember interviewing one clinically diagnosed psychopath and he had absolutely no empathy or remorse.
15:32He didn't care.
15:33In fact, he enjoyed playing games.
15:36I remember that night I went home and I had a massive headache.
15:40Lucia B asks, what are some signs that someone might be a manipulator or a cheater?
15:45Usually they'll be very secretive.
15:47They'll go outside to another room to answer text messages.
15:51They'll be very evasive, dismissive.
15:53You'll notice their behaviour will change from being upfront with you to making up little stories that don't add up.
16:00Oscar T asks, are you a good liar?
16:03Interesting question.
16:04I'm a terrible liar.
16:05I remember once I was doing a television interview with Bert Newton and he asked me a question.
16:10And it was a little bit personal and I didn't want the world to know.
16:12So I lied.
16:13When I watched it back, I thought, oh my gosh, Steve.
16:15Micro expressions, distress signals, blocking behaviours.
16:18Because I'm a terrible liar.
16:20But of course, I would say that if I had to lie.
16:25That's terrifying because even after all of that, I'm still going to believe anything I'm told.
16:31Are you a good liar?
16:32No, absolutely not.
16:33I do have a question though.
16:34Yeah.
16:34How does one get a job title, expert in deception?
16:38Good question.
16:38Mmm.
16:39I bet you we lied to get that job.
16:42I can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
16:44You're the cutest thing ever.
16:47You're so proud of yourself.
16:48I know.
16:48I'm so proud of that lie.
16:50Up next, Rachel Cole with rapid fire money tips without the fine print, which is good because
16:57I can't read without my glasses.
16:59Hi, I'm Rachel, your money expert.
17:01Let's jump straight into it and talk about superannuation and how with a few small tweaks
17:04today, you could be hundreds of thousands of dollars better off by retirement.
17:08Now, as with everything finance related, the following is general in nature and you should
17:11consult an expert for advice on your particular situation.
17:14Now, superannuation is one of the most powerful tools we have to set ourselves up financially.
17:19But for most Australians, we get our first account when we're 18, we start working, the employer
17:23puts in 12% and we kind of just forget about it and we get access to that money again when
17:27we turn 60.
17:28Now, statistically, it's likely an industry fund and likely a low cost balanced fund
17:32because that's the default in Australia.
17:34Now, your super fund is the group responsible for investing your money and we have choice
17:38over who manages that money, but we also have choice over how that money is invested.
17:42Now, a balanced portfolio, which is appropriate for someone in middle life that wants to take
17:46on moderate risk, will deliver you a 6% to 7% return over time because it's part shares
17:50and part cash.
17:51But it may be more appropriate for someone with more time on their side to be in a high
17:54growth fund, which will deliver that sort of 8% to 9% return over time if we've got time
17:58in the market to ride out the associated risk.
18:01Now, a 2% return differential over time doesn't sound like a lot, but that's hundreds of thousands
18:05of dollars of difference over time.
18:07Now, if you're under 50, your biggest asset is time.
18:10And we want those great returns to compound over the long term.
18:14If you're over 50, it's a great idea to see a financial planner and consider your transition
18:18to retirement and maybe making catch up contributions if that's appropriate for you.
18:22One in five Australians also have multiple super accounts, which means you're paying fees
18:26in lots of different places.
18:27And many of us don't even know those accounts exist.
18:29In fact, there's $17 billion of lost superannuation in Australia.
18:33So you need to check on myGov or the ATO website if some of that's yours.
18:37Remember, your superannuation is for retirement.
18:38We just want it working as hard for us as possible.
18:42Still to come on Healthy Wealthy NYs, we dim the lights, settle the jitters and bring back,
18:47you guessed it, the box of dev.
18:50This week's victim is superstar fashion icon Nadia Bartel.
18:55For you, anything.
18:57I wonder what she'll choose.
18:59Find out just after the break.
19:08Welcome back to Healthy Wealthy and Wise.
19:11It is time to head underground with our good friends at The Drain Man.
19:18Their relining crew, that's right, relining, tackles blockages like tree roots without tearing
19:25up your whole backyard.
19:26And the fun twist, the entire relining crew at The Drain Man are actually ladies.
19:34They're females.
19:35They're drain ladies.
19:37I like drain ladies.
19:38Let's meet them.
19:38As a plumber by trade for 10 years, I have seen a lot of cracked pipes in my time that
19:50can cause excessive water damage and drainage problems.
19:53If not fixed correctly, this can be a costly experience and also tear up your entire backyard.
19:59What if I told you there was a way that would save you money, be better for the environment
20:03and you don't have to tear up your whole backyard.
20:07Let's go have a look.
20:10Hello, hello.
20:12Firstly, can I say I'm so stoked to see you out there.
20:14As a fellow tradeswoman, do you get looks when you rock up on site or?
20:18Yeah, we do sometimes.
20:20They do get a shock when there's a woman out there.
20:22Now, I'm excited to get into it.
20:24Can I help with this?
20:25Yeah.
20:27Can you explain what relining is?
20:30Because there's a lot of drains out there that has tree roots growing through it.
20:33Relining is when we kind of insert the liners through the drain.
20:37Basically, you've got your cracked pipe and you come in, create a resin sleeve inside.
20:43So, it's a pipe on the outside and then another pipe on the inside.
20:46So, this is where we're putting the resin in.
20:48Once it's cured, it just looks like a brand new PVC pipe.
20:50Yeah.
20:51So, it kind of just blends into the existing pipe.
20:55Basically, the girls whack the resin in there.
20:58Then this bladder goes in and it expands.
21:01Bob's your uncle.
21:01Yeah, pretty much.
21:05So, Rosie, once you create the resin, time is money, isn't it?
21:08Well, if we don't get it in time, it cures on the spot.
21:11Then what happens?
21:13Drilling works.
21:14Pretty much drilling works.
21:17Relining saves you from the expensive process of ripping up the ground and replacing pipes.
21:22But it's a precise job that has to happen in just a few minutes.
21:26All right.
21:27We're using ultra-fast resin.
21:28We only have 10 minutes before it sets.
21:30So, we need to get the resin in, get it down there.
21:33Or else the job is ruined.
21:35We're done.
21:36Dusted.
21:37The girls have the new lining prepped.
21:39And another operator is waiting further along the pipe, ready to help guide it into position.
21:44All right.
21:45It's go time.
21:46We've got to mix in this and then the clock is ticking.
21:49Ready?
21:50And go.
21:53So, we're mixing up the resin now.
21:56Looks like a nice caramel sauce.
22:00Stuff like that's so satisfying.
22:06So, they're just wetting it now, making sure it gets an even layer.
22:10Time is ticking.
22:14They're putting the tape on.
22:16Then once they get the air compressor on and inflate it, the tape will break off, turn into a nice, beautiful pipe.
22:22We're on 3 minutes 44.
22:25So, now they're just positioning it, making sure it's in the exact right spot before it hardens.
22:31All right.
22:32Give me a slack, please.
22:33Bit of slack, please.
22:34You got slack.
22:36Time to hold tension.
22:37Real tight tension.
22:38Hold your tension there, please, Greg.
22:40Really tight.
22:42All right.
22:42Going up.
22:43Don't let it bounce back.
22:44Yeah.
22:44Holding tight.
22:45Going up.
22:48The tape's just popped.
22:51Yep.
22:52Time to keep holding it.
22:53All right.
22:54Just keep holding your tight tension.
22:56So, we just hit eight minutes.
22:57Literally two minutes left.
22:59It's quite a stressful thing.
23:02We are...
23:04We good.
23:05All good, Greg.
23:08The operator just confirmed.
23:09It's in.
23:10It's done.
23:11We got it with a minute 30 to spare.
23:13We did it.
23:14When I say we, I mean the girls did it.
23:16We just finished the job.
23:22The girls absolutely smashed it out.
23:24And I was just talking to the homeowner.
23:25And he said if he didn't do the relining, he would have had to rip up his shed, rip up the concrete
23:31and it would have cost him an absolute fortune.
23:33Once the pipe is damaged, it needs to be relined or replaced.
23:39So, how can you prevent it from getting to that stage?
23:42It's all about being proactive and there are some measures you can take to get on top of it.
23:48These are warning signs and some of those warning signs are frequently blocked toilets,
23:54slow draining water, bad smells, that gurgle noise and also tree roots.
24:00It's all about being proactive but it doesn't end with what you do in your house.
24:05What you do in your garden as well has a huge impact.
24:10Now, let's talk landscaping and future-proofing your pipes.
24:14The trees you plant have a huge impact.
24:18Some trees with more aggressive roots that might ruin your pipes in the long run
24:22are things like willow trees, fig trees and aspens.
24:27Some alternatives are your frangipanis, your ornamental pears, your bottle brush, native shrubs.
24:33They're less likely to damage your pipes.
24:37With hotter summers and heavier rainfall, climate change is literally shaping the ground beneath us.
24:44The ground shifts, pipes crack, roots come in and that's when you need to call the girls out from Drainman.
24:51Now, don't underestimate basic drain care.
24:55Avoid flushing your wipes, know your pipe layout and plant those pesky trees about 6 to 8 metres away from your pipes.
25:02If you keep your drains happy, then they'll keep you happy.
25:08That is very cool.
25:10I actually don't need anything relined but I might make up a problem just to get those girls over to my place.
25:16You know what time it is now?
25:18Yes, it is the part of the show where things get a little creepy crawly and a little bit uncomfortable.
25:24Mm-hmm.
25:24It's the box of death.
25:32And tonight's guest has built a fashion label out of sleek minimalism and pure class.
25:38But don't let that fool you.
25:40She's anything but minimal.
25:42I felt like I was going to say she's anything but classy.
25:45Say hello to my friend Nadia Bartel.
25:47You are a very, very brave girl to take a phone call from me that says don't worry about anything, just turn up.
25:55For you, anything.
25:56You're very sweet.
25:57Now, normally we would just have a gas bag, find out, you know, what's cooking with you.
26:02But this is not that sort of interview.
26:05Okay.
26:06You are going to make a choice in the next 60 seconds.
26:10You're going to hold something, it's going to have a pulse, and two of them are standing behind you right now.
26:17Nadia Bartel, please choose between Lara and Olive Python.
26:22Okay.
26:23We love olives, Nadia.
26:24We love olives.
26:24I love olives.
26:25Oh, Sicilian olives.
26:26A little bit warm, delicious.
26:28All right.
26:28And Mike here, he's holding Henrietta.
26:31She is a golden huntsman.
26:33I hate spiders.
26:34Everybody hates spiders.
26:36You can see those choices.
26:38You can go with one that you know, or you can pick what's in the box of death.
26:48I was just thinking, though, maybe that, like, I don't mind, maybe that's like a mouse or rat.
26:52Well, that would be.
26:53Wish I would die.
26:54Oh, is that worse?
26:55Oh, yeah.
26:57A mouse or a rat.
26:58A rodent is worse.
27:00Yeah.
27:00That is so interesting.
27:01You've got a tough decision ahead of you, whether to risk it or go with the known quantity.
27:08When we come back, we're going to find out what the outcome is.
27:10Is it a mouse?
27:11Is it a snake?
27:12Is it Nadia losing her mind?
27:15Hopefully the latter.
27:16See you soon.
27:16This segment is brought to you by the Amy Driving Test.
27:26Lucky you're with Amy.
27:29Welcome back.
27:30This is Healthy, Wealthy and Wise, where we are joined by the magnificent Nadia Bartel.
27:36I've given you a very, very tough choice to make here.
27:40You've got to choose between a snake, a spider, not great, and whatever is in the box of death.
27:52There is a part of you that wants to do that because, like, that's pretty exciting.
27:56I'm normally a risk taker, but I just can't risk it.
28:01I'm going to go with the snake.
28:02You're going to go with the snake?
28:03Snake.
28:04All right.
28:05Now, do not worry.
28:07You're in very, very safe hands.
28:09Do you respond well to praise and enthusiasm and support?
28:13No, I don't really need that.
28:14Oh, well, that's a shame because I've organised a special cheerleader for you.
28:17Hey.
28:18Hi.
28:21Start now because Nadia's scared.
28:22Come on, Nadia.
28:23You've got this.
28:24I'm going to drape it around your shoulders.
28:27Okay.
28:27Yeah.
28:28So, it's a lovely Melbourne scarf.
28:32And you get that beautiful body on your shoulders.
28:35Oh, it's, like, sliding off me.
28:37It's sliding off me.
28:39No, she's fine.
28:40She's just on your shoulders.
28:41Look how relaxed she is, guys.
28:42I'm fine.
28:43All right.
28:44Let's start the clock.
28:46By the way, of course, the snake matches, Nadia.
28:50How beautiful.
28:52Like, who does that?
28:53We first came to know you when you were a lifestyle blogger with the Chronicles of Nadia.
28:57At that time, I remember you said that your car was overflowing with make-up.
29:01Oh, really?
29:02And I've always wanted to know, is that because you love the lighting in the car?
29:07Oh, it's the best.
29:08It's the best.
29:09Yeah.
29:09Makes it look flawless.
29:10Do you also like to pluck a whisker or two in that?
29:14Come on.
29:16I'm Italian.
29:17What do you think?
29:18It's that says it all, doesn't it?
29:20You've co-founded your gorgeous fashion label, Henny, with your sister, Michelle.
29:24When you disagree on designs, do you see who can run down the hallway quickest to dob to your mum?
29:29Oh, it's definitely Michelle.
29:31Really?
29:31She calls Dad.
29:32Always.
29:33Really?
29:34Yeah.
29:34She does it around the dinner table.
29:35We always do dinner at mum's on Mondays.
29:37Oh, my gosh.
29:38And then she'll just, yeah.
29:39I bet you that's feisty.
29:41If I had told you.
29:42Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
29:46Oh, no, no, no.
29:47Your fine lines campaign, the bra.
29:50Oh, yes.
29:50Was everywhere.
29:51I was in the city.
29:52You glided past me on the side of a tram and I said out loud, I'm not ashamed to say,
29:58Jesus, that is an amazing set of buzzies.
30:01When you first saw the photos, did you go, whoa?
30:05Not really.
30:06Really?
30:06I wasn't that happy with it.
30:07Poor Dad.
30:07He had to see the, there was a tram out the front of his house.
30:10That just had my boobs in front of it every single day.
30:15It's terrible.
30:16I just thought your hair was the snake's head and I was going to go, wah, wah, wah.
30:22Ladies and gentlemen, that is Nadia Bartel.
30:26Thank you so much for your time tonight.
30:30Still set day, night.
30:31Your hair's done.
30:33You can hit the dance floor, my girl.
30:34Exactly.
30:35Next up, Amy Stanton is on hand with the little fixes and clever tricks
30:40that can save you big headaches at home.
30:44Today, I want to show you some super useful home maintenance tips
30:48that could save you a ton of trouble.
30:51Now, I'm a tradie at heart and also expecting another little one on the way,
30:56so I'm all about safe, easy and simple.
30:59We've got four tips for you that could prevent a disaster like a fire or flood.
31:03Let's get into it.
31:05Tip number one, check your flexi hoses.
31:11They're a common cause for water damage.
31:14We're talking one in ten insurance claims are caused by burst flexi hoses.
31:19Let's have a look at these ones.
31:23Lucky for the homeowner, these are in perfect nick.
31:27These ones, not so good.
31:30If yours is starting to look like this, it may turn into this.
31:34We even suggest getting them replaced every five to ten years,
31:38even if they look all right.
31:41Extra tip, if you're going away on holidays,
31:44turn your water off at the mains.
31:46A burst hose can fill a pool in a day.
31:50Tip number two, let's talk lithium-ion batteries and fire safety.
31:54Now, these batteries are found in everything,
31:57from your phone to your laptop to even your power tool chargers.
32:02Always use a proper charger and cord, not the dodgy ones,
32:06and then charge your things on hard surfaces,
32:09not your couch or your bed.
32:12Now, I know we've all done it, but don't overload your power boards.
32:16This one's starting to look like an octopus and can catch fire real quick.
32:24Don't forget to check your fire alarms.
32:26Don't wait for the beep.
32:28Check the batteries at least once a year.
32:31Tip three, clean your gutters.
32:35Now, I know cleaning your gutters isn't the most glamorous task,
32:38but it has to be done, preferably, we say, about twice a year.
32:42Why?
32:43Water damage is the number one thing.
32:45If these leaves build up and water gets back into your ceiling,
32:49it can cause a lot of mould and water damage.
32:52Then, another reason, bushfire season.
32:56These leaves are the perfect fuel for embers.
33:00An ember from a bushfire or even your neighbour's fireplace
33:04can land in here and ignite your whole house.
33:07Not good.
33:09Tip number four, give your hot water unit some TLC.
33:13Now, if you have a hottie like this one,
33:15it's got a little gizmo on it called the pressure relief valve.
33:18And basically, what that does, it's stopped your unit from overheating
33:22and exploding like a pressure cooker.
33:25And all we have to do is test it once every six months.
33:29Now, all we have to do to test it is pull this little lever for about five seconds
33:33and water should gush out the bottom.
33:37If water gushes out, we're all good.
33:40If it doesn't, you may need to call your local plumber
33:43and get this bad boy replaced.
33:48Most of these tips are quick and won't cost you anything
33:51but could literally prevent a disaster in the future.
33:54So get on it now before it costs you way more time and money.
33:59Very interesting.
34:00But that whole time I was thinking,
34:02if we get another season,
34:04it's going to be a baby.
34:05It's going to be two people there.
34:07Hey, guys, Amy here.
34:09Now, you might have been following my pregnancy journey
34:11from all the way back on episode one
34:13where Chrissy asked me if I'd swallowed a goat.
34:16Just a few too many beers, no.
34:19But I would like to announce the safe arrival
34:21of our beautiful girl, Darcy Violet.
34:25She came so quickly, not long after we finished filming, actually.
34:29And we got to the car park
34:31and she was literally born seven minutes later.
34:34And we were basically back home working in the garden
34:37a few hours after that.
34:39So all is well here.
34:40We can't wait for our next healthy, wealthy and wise adventure.
34:44It's pretty exciting.
34:45After the break, we are heading back to Bendigo.
34:49It's Sousa's big moment to shine
34:52as Chica brings her makeover to life.
34:55Trust me, do not miss this reveal.
35:00Oh, my goodness me.
35:02It's gorgeous.
35:03See you soon.
35:04Healthy, wealthy and wise is brought to you by Specsavers.
35:16Guys, welcome back to Healthy, Wealthy and Wise.
35:18Great to see you.
35:19We have been hanging out for this reveal
35:22from the very beginning of this episode.
35:24It's Sousa's big wardrobe reset.
35:28Now, Chica, you have spent some serious time with her.
35:31This has been like a top-to-tail overhaul.
35:35And it was amazing.
35:36I mean, you even changed up her glasses.
35:38I know, which really made a huge difference.
35:40Where were you when I thought those little round John Lennon ones
35:43were a good idea on this giant head?
35:46I was probably with Sousa's.
35:48Oh, playing favourites now, are we?
35:49Sorry.
35:51Let's see you in your best friend.
35:56Are you ready for this?
35:57We're at Specsavers.
35:58It's going to be fun.
35:59We're going to get you some new frames
36:00and we're going to just try on some different shapes
36:02and see what works for you.
36:03That sounds good.
36:04Colour, shape, the whole thing.
36:05So the VIP service is waiting for us.
36:07All right, let's do it.
36:08Let's do it.
36:08I'm excited for you.
36:17So, Sousa, how long have you been wearing glasses for?
36:19Since I was in year seven.
36:21Basically full-time.
36:22Well, I'm loving all these different colours and shapes
36:24and I feel like what we need to do
36:25is just try on a variety of things
36:27and just see what works with your colouring and your hair
36:29and what you do and don't like.
36:30Look, I'm loving this blue.
36:31I do like blue.
36:33I like that.
36:34I think they're really strong.
36:35Have a little look in the mirror and see what you think.
36:37And I like the colour.
36:37I think they work beautifully.
36:39Something a bit brighter and a bit fun.
36:41Now, I'm a little bit obsessed with all kinds of caramel.
36:43Okay, let's try that.
36:46No.
36:47Nope, they're not for you.
36:48No, they're very much too big on my face.
36:49You think so?
36:50Yeah, no, they're definitely not for you.
36:51They're not the right colour at all.
36:53That's also quite a pretty colour,
36:54these sort of tortoiseshell ones.
36:55I think they'd be gorgeous
36:57and with the golds through it,
36:58it will also lighten up your face.
36:59Yes.
37:00I like those a lot, actually.
37:01I think we probably need to get some professional help now
37:04because we could do this.
37:04Yes, because I could do this all day.
37:06Absolutely.
37:07Hello, how are you?
37:10My name's Iron.
37:11I'm just here to give you some frame styling advice
37:13if you need that today.
37:14So we're trying to get Suze a couple of pairs of new glasses.
37:17We're upgrading her wardrobe.
37:18And these are a couple that we tried on
37:20that we loved, just the colouring of more than the shape.
37:22So we've got some good selections here.
37:24Are you more interested in a designer brand
37:26that probably has a bit more flair?
37:28So this frame here will probably suit your features a bit more.
37:30So it's just a darker frame that still has a tortoise shell.
37:33Oh, I like them a lot.
37:35They definitely feel nice on my face too.
37:37And again, that's the kind of glasses you can have trans-seasonally.
37:40Yes.
37:40You know, winter, summer, they will look beautiful.
37:42Great for the weekend sport, but going out for dinner.
37:45What's the general rule when it comes to glasses
37:47and shape for face and all the rest of it?
37:49With an oval face, we tend to do softer, round ones,
37:52draw the attention to the chin a little bit more.
37:54We also have a face shape that's like a heart.
37:57So for those type of frames,
37:58we want to be looking at the ones
38:00that draw away the attention from the chin.
38:02Then we also have a face shape that is just a round face.
38:05So we're looking at more rectangular frames.
38:07Okay, well, let's see some other examples.
38:15Yep, they're perfect, look beautiful.
38:18Let's pop those through.
38:19No worries, I'll put them through now.
38:20Thank you.
38:23With Suzy's stylish specs sorted,
38:25it was time to head to Blue Illusion
38:27to complete her new look.
38:30Are you excited?
38:30I am a little bit nervous.
38:32What are you nervous about?
38:33Very overwhelming.
38:34I promise you we're going to have so much fun.
38:36We're going to rediscover who Suzy is again
38:38and I also have your new glasses from Specsavers.
38:40Let's go shopping.
38:41Let's do this.
38:43Meet my friend Donna,
38:44who owns Blue Illusion.
38:45Welcome.
38:46Nice to see you.
38:47To Blue Illusion.
38:48Bendigo.
38:48What she is needing is a new look.
38:50We've kind of lost ourselves a little bit along the way.
38:52We love colour,
38:53we want to try on some dresses,
38:54some new shapes
38:55and I think that's what we're going to try and do
38:57is discover who you are now
38:58at this age and stage in life.
38:59That sounds lovely.
39:00I think we can play dress-ups now.
39:02I think we can.
39:05Is there anything that's jumping out here for you?
39:07I quite like the green.
39:08It's not something I'd normally wear.
39:10Beautiful.
39:12I love this one.
39:13Look at the colour on you.
39:15I know.
39:15Put on the green.
39:17How gorgeous.
39:18The green, the green.
39:19I'm not sure though if you don't need a longer dress.
39:21Down to about here is going to be more flattering.
39:24100%.
39:24You need more length.
39:25When you're a bit taller,
39:26I think it does cut you off.
39:27Yes, it does cut you off.
39:27That's quite beautiful too.
39:28That's beautiful too.
39:29You know what?
39:29It doesn't hurt to try them all on.
39:31See how much nicer that looks being that little bit longer?
39:34Sometimes you have days where you want to show off a waist
39:36and sometimes there are days where you just don't.
39:38Sinch it in.
39:39See how it just gives you some shape?
39:40And I like these with this dress because they're a little bit lighter.
39:43Gorgeous.
39:44Okay.
39:44Absolutely gorgeous.
39:51What about over here?
39:53The tunics.
39:54They are lovely.
39:54With the great linen pants.
39:56I do like natural fibres, yes.
39:57Especially for women who are going through menopause.
40:00Particularly at the moment when my body's doing all sorts of fun things.
40:03Oh, look at you.
40:08So this is an outfit you will definitely wear?
40:09Yeah, definitely.
40:10These pants can go back with so many tops.
40:12Yeah, absolutely.
40:13So it's the base.
40:14We've got a great linen suit over here.
40:16I love this colour.
40:18I'm loving these pants.
40:19It's a great casual one.
40:21You can wear with a sneaker or with a sandal.
40:23With a heel.
40:23Beautiful white shirt, elasticated arms,
40:26a couple of scarves to try with it and some jewellery.
40:28Are you loving yourself sick?
40:29I am.
40:30This is beautiful.
40:31See, look how great you look.
40:33The length is great.
40:34Do you think?
40:35I think a scarf would look gorgeous with that.
40:36It'd make me look like I know what I'm doing.
40:38Yeah, exactly.
40:39You look amazing.
40:40Let's take that off and get you into hair and make-up.
40:47Now the fun begins.
40:50Suze, how are you going in there?
40:51We've got your friend Jen here.
40:52She's ready to see the great reveal as well.

41:22Your kids are not going to recognise you when you're walking the world tonight.
41:23No, they won't.
41:24I love it.
41:25Are you happy?
41:26Yeah, I really love it.
41:27You don't have to worry all together.
41:28You can break it up and you can have fun with it.
41:30And a few pieces in, a few pieces out.
41:31Oh, I love that you said that.

42:03She looks like a different person.
42:06Not only looks like it, she's emanating a completely different energy.
42:10She carried herself in a totally different way.
42:13It was almost like as soon as she had her hair and makeup done,
42:15her new glasses and a great outfit, she just was standing taller.
42:18I can't think of a better or more fitting way to finish our first season of Healthy Wellbeing.
42:25I know.
