00:00I'm Tom Morris, Jr., and this is Fugitives Caught on Tape.
00:22This guy has no regard for anybody else in the road.
00:25First up, we're in Springdale, Arkansas, where multiple law enforcement
00:55agencies are involved in a high-speed multi-state pursuit of two armed suspects in an allegedly
01:01stolen moving van.
01:04Earlier, local police in nearby Tawnytown, Arkansas, were alerted to the chase that began 56 miles
01:10away in Oklahoma.
01:11Now, as the chase approaches, these two Tawnytown officers get into position.
01:17They just came over the hill.
01:18Ah, here they come.
01:19Let's see what happens.
01:20The mutatives soon speed past, with multiple officers in hot pursuit.
01:24The two Tawnytown officers join the chase and begin to close in on the van.
01:31The suspects then make a right turn into this empty lot, where they appear to be surrounded.
01:32This officer gets out of his cruiser with his gun drawn.
01:38But the driver throws the van into reverse.

02:15As the chase moves on to busy local streets.
02:20Soon, Tawny Town Police Chief Corey Jennison takes the lead.
02:25As the suspects dangerously weave through lanes, almost slamming into this car.
02:29And blowing through multiple red lights.
02:34But Chief Jennison manages to stay close.
02:39As the truck heads toward the highway.
02:43And it's not long before the Chief makes a decisive move.
02:55County, we're southbound.
02:56The interstate speeds are picked up.
02:58As he closes in, Chief Jennison performs a pit maneuver.
03:16Sending the van spinning out of control.
03:18And his cruiser rolling over several times.
03:21Roll over, roll over, roll over.
03:22Starter Central, Starter Central.

03:52Meanwhile, officers surround the van and order the suspects to get out.
03:56But when they don't comply, Officer Michael Calico deploys his baton.
04:09Soon after, the passenger appears from behind an airbag.

05:17Officers ID the suspects as Tretton Johnson, the passenger, and Corey Mercier, the driver,
05:27both 21 years old.
05:28Oh, found the gun.
05:30Did?
05:31Yep.
05:32Take a photo of it.
05:34It was loaded, too.
05:36After searching the van, officers find two guns, a machete, two Molotov cocktails, five
05:42gallons of gasoline, and a lighter.
05:45Mercier and Johnson were charged with felony fleeing and criminal possession of explosives.
05:50Mercier pled guilty to both charges and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
05:55He'll be eligible for parole after serving 32 months.
05:59Johnson pled guilty to the explosives charge.
06:02His fleeing charge was dropped.
06:04He was sentenced to 10 years of probation under the condition that he would testify against
06:09Mercier in future proceedings if needed.
06:12Mercier and Johnson's Oklahoma cases, which include charges for eluding police, are pending.
06:18As for Police Chief Jennison, he was able to walk away from his cruiser with only minor injuries.
06:24He was taken to the hospital, treated, and released.
06:30Next, we're in Lee County, Florida, where state troopers are in pursuit of a suspect who fled
06:35from officers and is now driving recklessly and defiantly on local roads.
06:43Earlier, Florida Highway Patrol received multiple reports of a pickup truck that was swerving
06:48across lanes and driving dangerously on the shoulder of the highway.
06:52It's going to be a female with a baseball cap as a driver.
06:56I have a West Virginia plate on one of the calls.
06:59Soon after, Trooper Alexander Montes de Oca spotted the truck as it exited the highway.
07:05417, 26, New Ryan.
07:07I'm behind the blown vehicle.
07:09I'm going to observe the driving pattern.
07:12After the trooper saw that the driver was failing to maintain a lane, he attempted a traffic stop.
07:22But the suspect sped away.
07:26Troopers Brian Petty and Michael Peachman join the pursuit as Montes de Oca prepares to attempt
07:32a pit maneuver.
07:36And when he does, he's greeted by the fugitive's middle finger.
07:49The pit is unsuccessful, but the trooper tries again.
08:04After the second pit also fails, the suspect cuts across this grassy medium.
08:18Troopers move to box the fugitive in, but before they can, she drives up onto the curb and slams
08:25into this sign and loses control of her vehicle.
08:39The three troopers quickly move to block the fugitive in and prevent her from escaping again.
08:44The suspect still refuses to give up, but when she's no longer able to move the truck, she
09:05begins climbing out of the window.
09:14Officers quickly cuff the driver and place her in the back of trooper Montes de Oca's cruiser,
09:20where she remains defiant.
09:21Where's my Apple Watch, bitch?
09:22I plead the fig, no consent, and I want to know my Marine.
09:23I'm going to read you your rights real quick, okay?
09:24Yeah, I'm running to that .
09:25You got me up.
09:26Stupid ass.
09:27Boot-licking ass .
09:28Why are you running?
09:29I wasn't.
09:30I wasn't.
09:31I wasn't.
09:32But you're not even sober right now.
09:33I know.
09:34Listen, you don't have to lie to me, but I can smell the alcohol from my breath.
09:37I don't give a f**k what you smell, bitch.
09:38You're me and f**k y'all, f**k.
09:54The suspect was ID'd as 33-year-old Christina Beth Lee Slider.
09:59Troopers leave Slider in the back seat where she attempts but fails to get out of her cuffs,
10:04then pulls a package from underneath the front seat.
10:11Y'all are weird, bitch.
10:13What the f**k is this s**t?
10:15Take your s**t, bitch.
10:18Take that s**t.
10:20You want to shackle me, I bet.
10:23You should.
10:25Christina, can you calm down, please?
10:27Nah, s**t.
10:28Why they left me with packages?
10:30Look at that s**t.
10:31They weird.
10:32Slider was arrested, transported to the Lee County Jail, and charged with fleeing,
10:37eluding law enforcement, DUI, reckless driving, and threatening law enforcement officers with
10:43death or serious bodily harm.
10:45She pled no contest to all of the charges and was found guilty of fleeing, eluding, and DUI.
10:51Slider was sentenced to 18 days in jail with credit for 18 days time served, plus 18 months probation.
10:59Next, we're in Norco, California, where law enforcement from several agencies are pursuing a man who just shot a sheriff's deputy.
11:11Earlier, Deputy Isaiah Cordero pulled over a truck in a residential neighborhood for a code violation.
11:17As he got off his motorcycle and approached the truck, the driver suddenly pulled out a gun, shot him, and fled the scene.
11:26The incident was recorded by a nearby resident's home security camera.
11:30Officer Cordero was quickly transported to a hospital, but sadly he died from his injuries.
11:43The suspect was ID'd from the security footage as 44-year-old William Shea McKay.
11:50McKay already had an extensive criminal history, including convictions for robbery and multiple assaults with a deadly weapon,
11:58plus an active felony warrant for failing to appear on a case involving a kidnapping and the stabbing of a canine officer.
12:06Police put out a call to all surrounding agencies, and about an hour after the shooting, McKay was spotted by Beaumont PD on Interstate 15.
12:15Before long, dozens of law enforcement officers were following McKay on the freeway and from the sky.
12:22Continuing the freeway, expected 82nd Street.
12:25Just hit the center divider, smoke coming out of the tail end here.
12:28Take it there for two pockets, get ready to bail over that wall if he runs.
12:32With McKay's vehicle seriously hobbled, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department seizes the moment by deploying their armored vehicle, Bearcat 3.
12:41Bearcat 3 moves to pin the suspect's truck against the center divider as it spins out.
12:56But somehow, McKay manages to escape.
12:59Truck is still going south down, very slow.
13:02Speeds through the center divider, moving all the way over to the right-hand side.
13:06About 15 miles per hour.
13:08The suspect's truck appears to be near its end, and Bearcat 3 is there to finish the job.
13:15Just two feet right under the bridge.
13:18Two feet under the bridge.
13:20As even more law enforcement officers arrive on the scene,
13:27McKay opens fire, and officers quickly respond.
13:42McKay is hit, and the shootout comes to an end.
13:45to an end. He was treated on scene and transported to a hospital, but died from his injuries.
13:51McKay's gun, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, was recovered at the scene. No other law enforcement
13:58personnel were injured due to the suspect's actions.
14:04Next we're in Sanford, Florida, where deputies from Seminole and Volusia counties are after
14:08a man wanted for aggravated battery and carjacking.
14:11Earlier, the Volusia County Sheriff's Department received a call from a woman claiming she
14:20was hiding inside a convenience store after escaping a physical altercation with her ex-boyfriend
14:26who'd just taken off in her car. Deputies soon tracked down the suspect, 29-year-old John
14:32McGowan, and attempted a traffic stop. But after ramming a deputy's vehicle, he took off.
14:39Before long, the Seminole County Aviation Unit was called in and took the lead from the
14:43sky.
14:44Alert, Seminole, we're on scene, we have a visual.
14:47As McGowan began driving recklessly on local streets.
14:50Running the light at Casa Verde. We're at the curve on Country Club Circle and Country Club
14:59Drive now.
15:01After T-boning a civilian vehicle, sending it spinning, McGowan approaches a local elementary
15:10school and this deputy makes a move.
15:12Yes, he's working his way northbound. He's coming up to 20th now. Standby on DOT.
15:17Hold the traffic guide.
15:20At the intersection, the deputy performs a pit maneuver and the fugitive's vehicle becomes
15:26disabled. But he doesn't seem ready to give up just yet.
15:32We have a bailout running eastbound on 20th, south side of the road. Whitebound, bald, dark
15:37shorts and no shirt.
15:40Seminole County Lieutenant Cornelius Blue chases McGowan on foot.
15:45Southbound over the brick wall. Working his way eastbound.
15:53Hopped the second. We're all, just keep coming east. There's a unit that's in contact.
16:03He's giving up. He's giving up. He's on the ground. One unit's with him. Second unit's coming
16:07up. Plenty of units on scene. Anyone else can slow down.
16:12McGowan is arrested and taken to the Seminole County Jail. He was charged with carjacking,
16:17battery, aggravated battery on a law enforcement official, false imprisonment and fleeing and
16:23eluding. McGowan pled no contest to all of the charges and was sentenced to nine years,
16:28four months and nine days in prison. He'll be eligible for parole after seven and a half
16:34years.
16:38Next, we're in Duluth, Georgia. The police are in pursuit of a man on a four-wheeler who
16:44fled a traffic stop and is now driving recklessly on local roads with no plates.
16:50Earlier, Corporal Kerry Simmons was monitoring traffic when he says an ATV, which are generally
16:56prohibited from driving on public streets and highways in Georgia, blew past him doing 63
17:02miles an hour in a 45 zone.
17:06The corporal soon catches up to the suspect who pulls up to a light in the left turn lane.
17:15PIB northbound pass in Maine. It's going to be a four-wheeler, black male, brown shirt.
17:22The corporal attempts a traffic stop, but after the driver looks back at him, he takes off.
17:30And we are now southbound PIB, passing Long Lake.
17:36Now, as Corporal Simmons catches up again, the suspect really begins driving erratically.
17:43Speed is 81 miles an hour.
17:45As the chase continues, the ATV makes a right turn, almost collides with this car, and then
17:53appears to be cut off by another officer, Dave Nichols. But this four-wheeling fugitive seems to have
17:59other ideas. The suspect hops the curb and rides onto the sidewalk to get past Officer Nichols' cruiser.
18:07He then enters a residential neighborhood where he almost becomes trapped on a cul-de-sac.
18:17But he escapes between two houses into this backyard.
18:25Reckless, no helmet, no tag attached. He's now currently going to private property.
18:32And just moments later...
18:34There he is.
18:35The suspect pulls out from behind a house and speeds up the street.
18:40But as he rounds this corner...
18:4441, 41.
18:47The driver is not able to negotiate the turn. And when he hits a curve, he loses control
18:56and crashes onto this front lawn. As he gets up and attempts to flee again, Corporal Simmons
19:02springs into action.
19:09Officer Nichols pulls up to assist...
19:11Hands behind your back. Get under arrest.
19:14As Corporal Simmons gets the suspect in cuffs.
19:17Confirmed. One in custody. You're going to slow it down.
19:19The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Tyler Taylor, is placed in the back of a cruiser.
19:25You just put yourself at risk and everyone else. This is a residential area, man. What are you doing?
19:31I was just trying to ride and look at it. And I ain't.
19:36Taylor, who was previously sentenced to a year in prison for burglary, was hit with seven new charges,
19:42including fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving, speeding, no insurance, and no license plate.
19:50He spent a year in jail before pleading guilty to six of the seven charges after one count of fleeing was dropped.
19:56Taylor was sentenced to one year in prison with a year's credit for time served, plus five years probation.
