A P-plate driver has been charged with multiple offences over a crash which killed a heavily pregnant woman and her unborn child in Sydney’s north-west. Police say the woman was walking with her husband and three-year-old son when she was hit outside the railway way carpark in Hornsby.

00:00A frantic effort to save a mother and her unborn baby.
00:11After the 33-year-old was struck by a car outside Hornsby train station about 8 o'clock last night,
00:18she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
00:21As a result of that impact, she is now deceased and very sadly she was also eight months pregnant
00:28and her unborn child has also died.
00:31The woman was crossing the footpath with her husband and 3-year-old son who were uninjured.
00:37Police say a Kia Carnival slowed to let the family pass the entrance when it was hit from behind by a BMW sedan.
00:45At the wheel of that car, a 19-year-old P-plater.
00:49Both drivers underwent mandatory testing. Hours later, the P-plater was charged.
00:55When the lady succumbed to the injuries, the police arrested the gentleman at his home address
01:00and he was subsequently charged with those offences.
01:02Those offences include dangerous driving causing death, negligent driving and causing loss of a foetus.
01:09He's expected to appear before Parramatta local court tomorrow.
01:13Officers are also examining footage captured of the incident.
