00:00This is Into Black by the developers Binary Mill, and it was released on the 10th of October 2024.
00:25About the game. You have got sucked into a black hole and are now stuck on a mysterious but beautiful looking planet. Your ship has been badly damaged and you must go out on runs to gather resources to fix your ship. But be careful, there is alien life out there and it is not all friendly.
00:42Levels and size. This has got to be one of the most beautiful looking games that I've played so far on the Quest 3. The caves with the glowing rocks, the twinkling stars, the swimming under the water, the floating in space with the zero gravity big jumps. Everything just looks so beautiful. Such calming looking backdrops with hints of mystery thrown in.
01:04Enemies and bosses. I love the looks of the enemies in this game. From the alien looking bugs, to the flying laser shooting bugs, the larger alien bugs, the minotaur looking beast, to the robotic looking sharks. And all the bosses, they just look amazing.
01:20And then, worth noting that, as well as all the enemies, there are many other creatures flying, walking about and swimming. This really is a truly beautifully crafted environment.
01:31Weapons. Weapons you get are an axe that you can throw like Thor's hammer, either at enemies or resources. Then you get a pistol to start, you eventually find a shotgun and a semi-auto machine gun.
01:42Everything is controlled with slots on your right hand and left hand. All items can be customised to where you want them. Other gadgets you have on you are a mining laser, scanner, a torch that also shoots flares, a platformer gun, which you can shoot out a platform to be able to jump on so you can reach higher ledges.
02:00And then you have health balls, grenades, and shields, and a few other things I haven't used yet. It took me about five hours to realise that I could shoot enemies with my mining laser also, so I had that in my right hand, and then the SMG in my left hand.
02:16The ammo is unlimited, but after it shoots a magazine worth of ammo, it automatically takes a few seconds to load it back up. There is a console on your ship that you can visit which will allow you to customise your loadout.
02:27Leveling up options. When you are out there mining materials, you also find chests where, when opened up, you will find blueprints for more weapons and tools and resources.
02:38Then the materials you mine can then be used to build these new gadgets and weapons.
02:43Your fabricator upgrades console would consist of three categories. Tools, composites, and upgrades.
02:50Tools will list what you have found and what resources you have and need to build each weapon.
02:55Composites tells you what blueprints for tech you have and what resources you need and have to build them.
03:02And upgrades tells you what blueprints for upgrades you have and what resources you need and have to build them.
03:08Once you have fabricated whatever you need, head back over to your upgrades console and equip whatever it is you fabricated to the weapon you fabricated for.
03:16Puzzles.
03:17I really love the puzzles in this. When I worked on cruise ships, I had many puzzles similar stored on my iPad that I played down in the bar or even sometimes on stage involving connecting two matching colours together using a certain path and two paths cannot cross each other.
03:32They are most of the time simple when it involves two or three, but once you get up to four to six and with obstacles, it gets a little tricky and will require more time and patience.
03:42Mechanics. The story is good. The locations are gorgeous looking. The life on the planet is brilliant, but there were some issues of enemies coming out of walls or getting stuck in the ground.
03:54Not a lot, but did occasionally happen. I didn't suffer any crashes, though, apart from my ship in the game, which is obviously intentional.
04:01Controls. Controls are very simple and you will have them down within 10 to 15 minutes. There's nothing out of the ordinary.
04:08Online playability. I can't really tell you about the online part, as I just couldn't find a game to get into, so this part might be dead.
04:17But if you have friends who have the game, you can invite them into a party and play a co-op mode.
04:22Game menus. There are many different types of menus to this game, most wrapped up in consoles on your ship, which includes co-op, singularity, upgrades, loadout,
04:33a fabricator, cosmetics, and then the main core where you pick up your missions.
04:39Then the settings menu offers settings for locomotion, audio, and accessibility. My thoughts.
04:46Now, I picked up Into Black on sale for just over £7, and what a great deal I got.
04:52The story throughout drives the game at a nice steady speed and does enough to keep you interested.
04:58The views are spectacular and will continue to wow you throughout.
05:01Now, as always, I thank you for giving me your time if you've made it this far,
