02:24¿Está bien?
02:26¿Está bien?
02:27¿Está bien?
02:28¿Está bien?
02:29¿Está bien?
02:30¡Ahora!
02:313, 2, 1...
02:39Ok.
02:42Ok.
02:44Me va a dar la vuelta.
02:54Ah, 2, 2...
03:03Ok, I'll let you see Plan A.
03:06No, I'm going to plan.
03:07I'm on the street...
03:09...right over there.
03:11Three seconds if you want.
03:14I can't help her.
03:16We're high on sweet, dear.
03:19¿ Mmmm!
03:49No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
04:19I think we got most people.
04:39But hopefully, like I said, they're happy.
05:11que mucha gente no conoce,
05:36Ok.
05:37Entonces, Pallas y yo no fueron ayer last night,
05:39¿por qué te llamas a lo que hablamos
05:41sobre lo que te hablamos?
05:42Ok.
05:43La gran cosa es sobre Team Cohesión.
05:45Creo que hay un rift en el equipo
05:49entre la gente de la escuela
05:51y la gente de la escuela.
05:53Creo que mucha gente
05:55se siente weirdo y no incluido.
05:57Y a un extent,
05:59se siente insular.
06:02No, así,
06:03no, no.
06:04No, no.
06:05No, no.
06:06No, no, no.
06:07No, no.
06:33¡Gracias!
06:34I'd rather not do that immediately, though, to see if we could make it all work.
06:38Yeah.
06:38I think we should work towards harmony.
06:40Yeah, I absolutely agree.
06:41Because I think we're losing people.
06:43I'm just not sure exactly what the issue is, by which I mean there are a lot of items on the list.
06:52Right.
06:52And I'm constantly encouraging people to go to events and sign up, and people don't.
06:58Right.
06:58So I don't know.
06:59I'm not going to, like, go up to someone and say,
07:02hey, you need to do this item.
07:04Like, obviously, that would be absurd.
07:05I've had a lot of friends say they want to do Scab Showcase,
07:07but they just don't feel like it's, like, they don't feel like it's really, like, approachable.
07:11And I think if we, like, maybe even try setting up, like, just explicit teams,
07:14like, hey, who wants to do this?
07:15Sure.
07:16I think we all want to see people in person.
07:17Yeah, yeah.
07:18I think after this release, it was really good that we had so many people here.
07:21But we should try to do that more.
07:23We'll figure it out.
07:24Yeah.
07:24Another thing we could do is if we have more food,
07:27I feel like more people come to events and there's food.
07:32This is the first time that we have had, I mean, okay, last year we did something on Friday,
07:36but I don't even remember it.
07:37I think it was so small.
07:38And so this year we did a big, giant thing on Friday to encourage people to come in and do things.
07:42And honestly, I feel like the crowd is smaller than the people that have been here just doing stuff all day.
07:47So I don't know if it matters.
07:49I'm happy to feed our team.
07:51Those guys over there have taped on the wall a list of easy-to-do items
07:55because I feel like the most daunting thing to try to do anything for SCAB is to, like, understand what it is that someone wants.
08:01And so the fact that our helpful captains have translated the list into doable items I think will help.
08:07I don't know if anybody will actually do them, but, you know, I don't know.
08:10It might happen.
08:12I'm wicked.
08:13These are the quick items.
08:14A lot of items you can do with supplies in HQ.
08:16No, but you have supplies inside.
08:18In HQ.
08:18So eating food and then go in HQ.
08:20We have to blow up a car and...
08:23Oh, yeah.
08:23Is that going to happen?
08:24How's that going to...
08:25Or is it, like, a little toy car they can blow up?
08:27No.
08:28Oh, thank you.
08:29Yeah, thank you for coming.
08:30Yeah, you're welcome.
08:30Like, every moment, you know.
08:32Um...
08:33Wow, yeah.
08:34We also have to have to have to.
08:35If anyone has a dish out there, you don't need to do this, okay.
08:38Hello, Jasmine.
08:39Boba.
08:40Huh?
08:40Hello, Jasmine.
08:41Boba.
08:41Oh, cool.
08:42Okay, cool.
08:43Here's also some free food.
08:44And also, if you guys have time, there's some easy items for SCAB over there.
08:47There's also some items that you can't do right now,
08:49so there's some items that are better for people who can't stay for very long.
09:06Progress so far?
09:08It's hard to say.
09:08I've been...
09:09not...
09:12I've been kind of spending all day planning for this event,
09:15so I haven't been able to really keep tabs on what's going on besides that.
09:21The event also could be good.
09:23I wish mobile...
09:24Oh, look.
09:25Yeah, we've got a couple of people signed up for events already.
09:29There were a lot of people looking at the list.
09:31I'm not sure if people maybe didn't see anything they were interested in
09:35or maybe they are just didn't sign up for stuff and are doing things.
09:39It's hard to say.
09:40We're trying to currently...
09:42We're sending an email to the entire dorm that we have food out here
09:47and that we're trying to get people...
09:49We're trying to recruit assistants,
09:50so hopefully some people will answer the call and do SCAB things.
09:55We don't want people to just come and eat chocolate food,
09:58so it's sort of a tricky balance of trying to, like,
10:02sort of make it conditional on helping out with the SCAB,
10:08but also we're not officially making it conditional, you know.
10:13Do you want to do with that free dinner?
10:15Um, I would love free dinner.
10:16Something bobo?
10:17Okay.
10:18Also...
10:19What's that?
10:22Oh, we are also sort of a dinner and SCAB, uh...
10:27Right, yes, we have a...
10:29Gotcha.
10:30If you're interested in helping out with SCAB,
10:31we have a compiled list of items for...
10:34Okay, yeah.
10:35You can take a look at that.
10:36Got it, definitely.
10:37I'll be in touch.
10:39See ya.
10:43Do you think they're going to do one?
10:45No.
10:48Sarah, you've got some new recruits.
10:50What's the key to luring people here?
10:53The key, in my experience, to getting people to SCAB is,
10:58A, to be ready with items for people to work on.
11:03The list can be large and intimidating.
11:05A single item is very approachable.
11:08We do need to find somebody to sell their soul to Cole.
11:12I think tonight is the deadline.
11:13It is.
11:14Only give it to somebody who didn't want it.
11:16It's like the papacy that way.
11:17You've got to find the person who doesn't want it.
11:19We are in the midst of preparing for SCAB and Gallery tonight,
11:24which requires three art pieces.
11:27A painting, a sculpture, and a video installation.
11:31Our theme is Labyrinth 1986.
11:36And so we are working on here a painting of David Bowie's face.
11:41We're making a clear orb.
11:45Because apparently clear orbs are important in David Bowie's Labyrinth.
11:49How did you guys end up here, like, working on this thing?
11:52Does everyone in the dorm just, like, know about SCAB?
11:54There's a lot of messages in the chat.
11:56And also, if you walk by here, like, that's our lobby.
11:59And you see massive quantities of, like, snacks.
12:01And you're like, how can I get in on that?
12:04Yeah, I was lured by the snacks.
12:06There's free tacos tonight, and there were free tamales last night.
12:09I was lured by that.
12:10There's no way to get into the right mind frame for SCAB
12:13other than doing SCAB.
12:14We are not quite where I'd like to be
12:17on things like the major events and showcase items.
12:21But I'm excited.
12:22I think we are slowly pulling more people,
12:25and we will be able to field something for future events.
12:29So, Fridays are honestly a little bit more chill for the SCABies.
12:43There's a lot of events during the day,
12:46and teams will send as many participants are requested or able.
12:51Circle! Circle! Circle! Circle! Circle!
12:56F-7-5-C-0-3.
13:01It's mostly red, a bit of green, and almost no blue.
13:06I'm not sure what color that means.
13:08Does this count?
13:10I'm sorry, I can't give you points.
13:12Gosh.
13:13It's not a good one.
13:14Woo!
13:14Woo!
13:15Woo!
13:16Woo!
13:17Woo!
13:18Woo!
13:19Woo!
13:20Woo!
13:21Woo!
13:22Woo!
13:23Woo!
13:24Woo!
13:25Woo!
13:26Woo!
13:27Woo!
13:28Woo!
13:29Woo!
13:30Woo!
13:31Woo!
13:32Zero, three, zero, three, zero, one.
13:34Three minutes on the clock.
13:36I'm sorry.
13:37I know exactly what it is.
13:39What's the name?
13:40It's Maxi.
13:41Maxi.
13:42Maxi.
13:43Three, two, one.
13:45Woo!
13:46That's the moon right there.
13:47Woo!
13:48That's the moon.
13:49Like, send it up.
13:50Okay, actually, I...
13:51Good, good.
13:52Yeah.
13:53Good, good.
13:54Good.
13:55Yeah.
13:56Awesome.
13:57Okay.
13:58Okay.
14:03I'm curious, could you do kind of like a...
14:06All right, it's 5 PM.
14:09God, it's 5 PM?
14:10Holy shit.
14:11Oh, no.
14:12Okay, that's pretty fast.
14:13Okay.
14:14Okay.
14:15Okay.
14:16It's almost 5 PM.
14:17And last time I checked, I think we've completed around like 30 items.
14:23But it doesn't seem like that many, but the items will quickly become finished.
14:27And then as soon as they finish, the number will increase very quickly.
14:30What information would be pertinent for this?
14:33So that I can, um, sound like I'm not a crazy person.
14:37Uh, we want to get a horse in Hutchinson Courtyard.
14:41Um, because, why not?
14:44Mmm.
14:45Hold music.
14:47This is, this is not very responsible for a police station.
14:50This is the Chicago Police Department's hold music.
14:52Pretty mean.
14:53That sounds great.
14:54So the Chicago Police Department has had me on hold for 15 minutes now.
14:57Hell yeah.
14:58We're getting that horse.
14:59That horse could be awesome.
15:01Uh, I'm a student at, uh, University of Chicago.
15:04I had something that I would like to, um, talk about with the mounted unit.
15:09Are you able to put me in contact with them?
15:11Okay, perfect.
15:12So will they be able to put me in touch?
15:15Yes.
15:16All right.
15:17Thank you so much.
15:18Have a nice day.
15:20Sick.
15:21All right.
15:22Second phone call.
15:23Second phone call.
15:24Second phone call.
15:25Thanks.
15:26What was next?
15:27What was next?
15:28What did you say?
15:29Oh, okay, it's a 15, yeah.
15:30Uh, that'd be perfect.
15:31What's the number?
15:34All right, perfect.
15:35Thank you so much.
15:36Have a great day.
15:37Thank you, gentlemen.
15:38All right.
15:39Whoa!
15:40I'll get this closer, Taro..
15:41What is our pitch?
15:42We are..
15:43We need to, yeah, we need to lock in.
15:44Okay, yeah.
15:45Ok.
15:59No pick up...
16:02Surely, the police's hours have to be pretty... pretty flexible like...
16:06I mean, for the Mountings unit, sure.
16:09Sí, sí, sí.
16:39Pero es siempre lo que pasa.
16:43El aeropuerto se va a pasar.
16:46Entonces, vamos a ir a la UChicago
16:49Air Med
16:51Helicopter.
16:53Es un poco,
16:53me ha preguntado que yo soy un EMT
16:56en la primera línea de la e-mail,
16:58aunque es completamente irrelevante
17:00a lo que estaba diciendo.
17:01Es cierto, no es cierto.
17:04No necesariamente la información que necesitan.
17:07So we are going there to chase down two items.
17:11One of them will be ours with this, presumably.
17:16This is one of the maybe items.
17:19There's no points, no number.
17:21But it's a big H.
17:23Item 185, H.
17:25I really want them to think outside the bounds,
17:27again, of what items can be.
17:30Really try to expand their mind
17:32as to possible completions of this item.
17:35Awesome.
17:35Hi, I'm Madeleine.
17:37I'm Owen.
17:38Well, first of all,
17:39I think this was inspired by,
17:41this was one of them.
17:42Mystery H.
17:43Mystery H.
17:43You need to find an H?
17:44Okay.
17:45That's a pretty big H up there, I assume.
17:46There is a pretty big H up there.
17:48It's covered by the helicopter family,
17:50but it's okay.
17:50How many points is the H worth?
17:52Well, I can't tell you that,
17:53but I will say it's significant.
17:55Then there were also additional secret points
17:58that were given, you know,
18:00kind of at my discretion
18:01for particularly exceptional completions of H.
18:05Good luck.
18:06There's a kitchen up there somewhere.
18:07All right.
18:07Thank you so much.
18:10Oh, there's...
18:12That's a pretty decent view of the city.
18:14Only a bit.
18:15Only a bit.
18:16Holy shit.
18:18This is insane.
18:19I'm also...
18:20How many times are you guys
18:20that I'm scared of heights?
18:21Are you actually?
18:22Oh, yeah.
18:23Yeah, I'm horrified.
18:24No, this is like one of the stories
18:26that they'll tell, like,
18:27the kids who are, like, applying.
18:29Yeah, they're like,
18:29hey, sometimes they get in the...
18:30One of my favorite stories.
18:35And occasionally,
18:36you have to rattle the cages,
18:37you know, keep them kind of on their toes.
18:40If they're not, you know,
18:42worried about items to a degree,
18:44then we're doing scav hunt wrong,
18:46in my opinion.
18:47Is there a hidden meaning to the H?
18:50Yes, there actually is
18:51a hidden meaning to the H.
18:52The H is a completable item.
18:54We wrote over the H
18:57in scented magic marker,
18:59and they should have been able to tell me
19:01that the H was, in fact, grape scented.
19:04I mean, no one's done anything.
19:05Have people done things
19:07that are worth more points?
19:08Maybe.
19:09There is no...
19:10There's no thing I'd rather participate in
19:13that any other team has done than this.
19:14For sure.
19:15For sure.
19:15For sure.
19:16This is so sick.
19:17This is crazy.
19:20I cannot go over the view from up here.
19:21It is gorgeous up here.
19:23Like, the whole lake.
19:24We're at the stage in the hunt
19:34where a lot of smaller items
19:36are starting to get picked up.
19:38The sort of small-scale,
19:39individual scatting
19:41that builds through most of the list
19:43is getting underway.
19:45I'll admit that, for all I say it,
19:48I haven't fully adjusted
19:49to working with a smaller team,
19:50and so some of my, like, mental processes
19:54aren't necessarily accurate,
19:57but I'm liking what I'm seeing
19:59when it comes to people finding items they like
20:02and taking off in all sorts of different directions.
20:04I think there's, like, a bunch of stuff we can use,
20:06but I would love to brainstorm with more people.
20:08We can brainstorm, like, also in the closet
20:11to see what's available.
20:12That is so true.
20:13I've never been in the closet.
20:15Oh, it's the best.
20:16I mean, it's like a...
20:17And I've been in the blue room in our closet, yeah.
20:20My name's Ariane.
20:21I am an alum.
20:23I'm back to SCAV with the team as an alum.
20:26It's my first year doing that.
20:28I've had some form of leadership position
20:30the entire rest of the time
20:31that I've SCAV'd with Snitchfog.
20:33There's part of it that's really nice
20:34if I just see something that I want to do
20:35with, like, ooh, shiny,
20:36and I can just go.
20:37So, um, we're...
20:39This is the blue room,
20:40which is, like, one of the snow common rooms.
20:42This closet belongs to SCAV.
20:44Um, we keep a lot of, like,
20:45the more organized supplies in other places.
20:48These are the not organized supplies.
20:50There's a lot of, like, old items
20:52that we've continued to reuse into other items.
20:54So I guess that we're just, like,
20:56looking to see what's there
20:57to, like, see if there's stuff we can use.
20:59Do other teams have, like...
21:02This?
21:03Yeah.
21:04So, to my knowledge, no.
21:07It's, like, because Snitchfog
21:09has been scatting for a really long time
21:10and because we've been really intense
21:12about it for a long time,
21:13this is, like, a grandfathered-in thing.
21:17So, like, this item was, like,
21:19uh, you had to feed someone
21:20with six-foot-long chopsticks.
21:22So it was for the chopsticks.
21:22That's so cool.
21:23I think Sarah did that item.
21:25How do you even...
21:26Yeah, it's, like,
21:26the world's weirdest thrift shop.
21:28Ooh, I see a Frisbee, which is...
21:29Oh, there's a Jell-O Frisbee item.
21:31Yeah, so maybe we should mold.
21:33It's from Blue Crate.
21:35We got a good shopping trip.
21:38Obviously, the team feels
21:39really different every year.
21:40Most of my friends are scabbing with sucks,
21:43but, like, I still have close friends
21:44on this team.
21:45So, it's, like, as someone
21:46who no longer has to be captain,
21:47it's, like, I'm just gonna make what's fun.
21:50Do y'all want reference?
21:57Cool.
21:57Let me phrase it more politely
22:03than you just did.
22:05We called a meeting because, uh,
22:07there was, like, a lack of sense of community
22:08and people kind of started flaking,
22:10so I want to maybe, like, revitalize the team
22:12and reorganize in such a way
22:14that we can come back and take things.
22:17The main goal of this meeting
22:18is to get teams for showcase items,
22:20which are these really big items
22:21that, um, I guess are worth a lot of points
22:23and need teams of engineers
22:25or makeshift engineers,
22:26and I want to gather people.
22:27I want to make people feel also welcome
22:29to come here
22:29because I think a lot of them
22:30don't feel like they're welcome.
22:32Cool.
22:32Is everyone ready?
22:33Yeah.
22:34Um, okay.
22:35I think this is probably
22:35the turnout we're gonna have,
22:36so I just want to clarify some things.
22:38Um, I think we really have
22:41a lack of organization a little bit,
22:43and I'd like to really kind of fix that up,
22:45especially integration with South.
22:46I want to be more welcoming.
22:47I want to try making sure
22:49people, like, kind of feel okay to be here.
22:51I want to make sure we have kind of, um,
22:54we need more people.
22:55I think that's just it, really.
22:56I want 30 people.
22:57I want at least 20 people
22:58to be working on SCAB.
22:59We have the people.
23:00We just don't have the morale.
23:03I don't quite have a pulse
23:04on the morale stuff.
23:06I know that we had to call a team meeting
23:08to discuss really getting on top
23:12of communication things,
23:14getting people signed up for things,
23:15getting people to participate.
23:17We've been having some people
23:19dropping the ball on items,
23:20and, um, timed events going by
23:23without anybody signed up for them.
23:25I'll try to organize
23:26which items we need teams for.
23:28I'm going to gauge interest
23:29for the showcase items.
23:30I really want, um,
23:31I want to find out which ones we're doing
23:33because I want to do two.
23:33I don't want to just do an arcade thing.
23:35Just, uh, yeah,
23:36everyone try to do some teamwork,
23:38and, um, I think we got this.
23:40Seriously, I just think, um,
23:42I think we just got to, like,
23:43be a little more vigorous.
23:44Also, if anyone knows a way
23:47to get in contact with, like,
23:48Native Americans' tribes,
23:50specifically with totems,
23:51really would appreciate it,
23:52but I don't think we're doing much of that.
23:54Um, if anyone's into arts,
23:55I could really use a buff,
23:56nor lacks plushy also.
23:58Um, unrelated.
23:59I just, that's a lot of points.
24:01Hey, Gabe, do you want to go around
24:03and actually introduce yourself?
24:04Because I don't think most of the people
24:05in this room know who each other are.
24:07Good point.
24:08We never get an introduction.
24:08Yeah.
24:09This is important.
24:11My name's Gabriel.
24:12Um, I haven't been around much,
24:13but, um, I plan on being around more.
24:16Do you think that South is still,
24:17is still on a chance?
24:19I think we definitely still have a chance
24:20because a lot of these items, like,
24:22this year, I think we have a lot of,
24:23there are a lot of big point items,
24:24and I think, like,
24:25with a little bit of, like,
24:26with a good team of 10 people,
24:28you can still win that.
24:28You know, even if we have 10 people,
24:30we'll bring it home, but...
24:31It's making me a little bit worried
24:34about where we stand,
24:37but I'm doing my best.
24:39I'm just happy to be here
24:40and happy to be scaving
24:42in whatever wild form
24:45that ends up taking for me.
24:47There is an event happening
24:48at 6.30 tonight.
24:50What's the event?
24:52It is the Scaven Gallery.
24:54We made some art.
24:55We're going to do an auction.
24:56It's going to be great.
24:57You don't have to show up.
24:59You can show up.
25:00There will be food.
25:02We do need a ghost of Scavius present.
25:05We need somebody who's willing
25:06to dress up as a spooky ghost
25:08and wear white pants.
25:10How far do you want me
25:11to get into this, Alice?
25:12I don't know.
25:12I don't know.
25:13I don't know.
25:13Hell yeah.
25:16So this year's Friday night event
25:18is Scaven Gallery.
25:20So teams are tasked
25:21with creating one sculpture,
25:24one painting,
25:25and one video installation
25:27based off of one event
25:29that happened in 1986.
25:31TDA, ho, ho!
25:32Hey, hey!
25:33You're going to love the TDA!
25:35Welcome to Scaven Gallery,
25:42and I hope tonight
25:43you're able to understand
25:44what happened in 1986,
25:46the year before
25:47the world's largest,
25:48best,
25:49coolest annual scavenger hunt
25:51was born.
25:52Thanks again, y'all.
25:54The name of our exhibit
25:56is the Chernobyl disaster.
25:58The Manic of the Centenic Panic.
25:59Iran-Contra Affair.
26:01The Mystery of Al Capone's Vault.
26:03Voyager 2, 1986.
26:06An Encounter with Uranus.
26:08I think Friday night event went well.
26:10It was a little bit chaotic,
26:11as always,
26:12when you have that many teams
26:13in such a small space,
26:14but there were some standout completions
26:16that really wowed me.
26:18So here we have
26:19our Challenger disaster exhibit.
26:21Could you really briefly explain
26:23all of your weaknesses?
26:24Yes, absolutely.
26:26I thought South's explanation
26:28of the Challenger tower
26:30that they had constructed
26:31was pretty compelling.
26:33We start at the bottom
26:34of this ivory and ebony tower,
26:37reaches towards the heavens,
26:39perhaps reminiscent
26:40of another tower humanity
26:42might have built,
26:43a monument to our eternal hubris.
26:46I thought their painting
26:46was really well done,
26:48and I think overall
26:49the video installation
26:50set the tone
26:51to be very thematically accurate
26:54to sort of like
26:55a contemporary art museum
26:57or art exhibition.
26:58David Bowie's Labyrinth.
27:01Snitchcock's,
27:02I just remember being
27:03extremely chaotic,
27:04especially that video,
27:05because Labyrinth
27:06is already such a intense movie.
27:09There's so much happening,
27:10and so that intercut
27:11with all the different, like,
27:13scenes and elements
27:14was kind of a lot
27:15to take in at once.
27:16I wasn't sure what was happening,
27:18if I'm being honest,
27:19or if I really liked it,
27:21but it was interesting.
27:22This is interpretations
27:24of the Hands Across America movement
27:26and the community
27:28it built in America.
27:29I'm going to be honest,
27:31Max P's was a little bit
27:32of a letdown for me.
27:33I think because of last year,
27:35I've come to expect
27:36great things from Max P,
27:38especially regarding
27:38the major events,
27:39and the painting
27:41of the handprints
27:42was not particularly interesting.
27:45It looked like
27:46it was very low effort.
27:48I didn't think
27:48the sculpture was super clear,
27:50but I did really like
27:51the video installation.
27:52I thought it was very creative
27:53to show all of the things
27:55that hands can be used for.
27:57Just wanted to announce
27:58very quickly
27:58that we will be relocating
28:00to Stuart 105 over there
28:02for our auction
28:03in approximately seven minutes
28:05at 8 p.m.
28:07Teams also perform
28:08a team auction of sorts
28:10where they sell their work,
28:12and there's an auctioneer
28:13auctioning them off,
28:14and they also had to create
28:15team money so that buyers
28:16could buy pieces
28:17at the auctions.
28:18Painting, Reagan, Evil,
28:20I know what this is worth.
28:21We're starting at $100,000.
28:22This is a reference
28:23to the Voyager's golden record.
28:26Do I have any bids
28:27for this painting?
28:29Three island condoms.
28:30Three hundred condoms.
28:32Do I have money?
28:34Any money?
28:35$400,000.
28:36$400,000.
28:37$1 million.
28:38$1 million.
28:40I hear $1 million.
28:42Do I hear any more?
28:43$1.1 million.
28:44$1.1 million.
28:46That's some...
28:46$2 million.
28:48$2 million.
28:49We have some deep pockets in here.
28:52One point.
28:53$3 million going once.
28:58Going twice.
29:00Sold.
29:00Sold.
29:00Sold.
29:01Sold.
29:05How do you feel like the event went?
29:10That was an incredibly fun
29:12Friday night event.
29:14I'm happy to have been here.
29:14The people of Scav thought
29:16they were worth $2.2 million,
29:18which is pretty good.
29:19We are heading back to HQ.
29:21I am going to briefly divert
29:23to eat dinner
29:23and encourage anybody else
29:25who has not done so
29:27to do so.
29:28And then
29:29set in to work
29:30on items.
29:32This is where...
29:32This is where the hunt
29:33truly begins.
29:34Listen, I'm all for it.
29:46You know my stance
29:47on big wooden boxes.
29:48I said for a couple of hours,
29:49they're trying to be used
29:51all the way in with that.
29:53Yeah.
29:53The seal is good.
29:54There's a bunch of water
29:55stuck in the tube right now.
29:56There's also just a bunch of water
29:57filling under the table.
29:58I think I...
29:59We are Suck Scav.
30:01That's our team.
30:02What does that stand for?
30:03That's a great question.
30:05This is our first full year
30:06as a team.
30:07It's really interesting
30:08because we're having to learn
30:09how to be an alumni team,
30:11which is very different
30:11from being a current student team.
30:14We have alums
30:14from all across the country
30:16and even across the world.
30:17And a lot of folks flew in.
30:19We're about half and half
30:20Chicago natives
30:20and people who flew in
30:22or traveled in otherwise.
30:24We don't have a dorm
30:25that we can HQ in.
30:26We have to find this space.
30:27There's decades
30:29of accumulated equipment
30:30from like the massive storage
30:32built up in the Blue Room
30:33and all of the equipment
30:35that they have down there.
30:36And we had to find creative ways
30:38on a more limited budget
30:39to replicate all of that.
30:42All right.
30:42This is...
30:43This is Hexbug City.
30:45So these are their residences
30:48and they're supposed to be able
30:50to travel to these things.
30:51I don't know how well they will do.
30:54I didn't see...
30:56They're getting stuck in the corner now.
30:58I've been scabbing since 2015.
31:01That was my first year
31:01as a student
31:02in Snell Hitchcock, the dorm.
31:05And that team
31:07was always a very strong team,
31:09always like over 100 people.
31:12Over the years, though,
31:13especially with the pandemic
31:14in the middle,
31:15at a certain point,
31:16it became over 50% alumni.
31:19And it, you know,
31:20that kind of created
31:20a more difficult team dynamic.
31:22And last year,
31:23there were protests
31:24on the quad
31:25and that made a bit
31:27of an unsafe situation
31:28for there to be
31:29so many non-students
31:30entering and exiting
31:31out of student buildings.
31:33We thought, you know what?
31:34Naturally, this is a good point
31:35to segment off
31:37and create our own team
31:38because the culture
31:39has shifted a bit over time
31:41and we really want
31:42to preserve our tradition
31:44of doing things.
31:45But also,
31:46we believe that scab is best
31:47when it's mainly
31:48propped up by students.
31:50We're a little concerned
31:51about there being
31:52that waning,
31:53strong team culture
31:54because for us,
31:55Snell Hitchcock
31:55was always a place
31:57where scab
31:58and the team identity
31:59was kind of
32:00one and together.
32:04Thank you.
32:05This was like
32:10from a previous year scab.
32:12It was a rocking centaur.
32:15I guess
32:16and it's like
32:17a rocking horse
32:18so I guess we're gonna
32:19turn it into a horse instead.
32:21I think I'm gonna try
32:21to just tape
32:22the blue this on
32:23as the body
32:24and we're trying
32:24to make the head
32:24stick on right now.
32:26We're sewing a plushy
32:28Snorlax with a pattern
32:29that Psy found
32:30and then our plan
32:31is to build up
32:32abs out of clay
32:34and insert it
32:35as a panel
32:35into the
32:36huggable tummy.
32:38You're putting
32:39quite a bit of effort
32:40into this Snorlax.
32:42Yeah.
32:42Yes.
32:43Maybe too much effort
32:44but you know
32:45No such thing.
32:46Do you feel like
32:47this Snorlax
32:48is worth the points?
32:49I have no idea
32:50how many points
32:50it's worth.
32:51I live in a
32:52point-free zone
32:54where I want
32:55to antagonize
32:56my roommate
32:57who wrote this item.
32:57Well, I want to
32:58like respond
32:59to the item
33:00that he made
33:01because I think
33:02he raised good items.
33:03Everybody is working
33:04on frankly
33:07ludicrous items.
33:08This is scab.
33:09This is what scab's about.
33:10It seems like
33:11people have really
33:11sort of found
33:12the items
33:12that like speak to them.
33:14Is that like
33:15something that
33:17usually happens?
33:19That is part
33:20of our philosophy.
33:21This is essentially
33:23a philosophy
33:24centered entirely
33:25around boat sinks
33:26which are some
33:27of my favorite
33:27parts of scab.
33:28A boat sink
33:29is taking an item
33:30not very valuable
33:32by points necessarily
33:33but giving it your all
33:35doing something
33:36far, far more
33:37than would be expected.
33:38We're a big fan
33:39of boat sinks here.
33:40I'll find out eventually.
33:41I'm not running right now.
33:43But there are secret...
33:44We keep getting asked
33:45like who's our cooker
33:46and we just
33:47we have no idea.
33:48Yes, I am our cooker.
33:50Clara.
33:50This is my best friend
33:53Stefan
33:53whom I never part
33:54Oh yeah.
33:59This is my best friend
34:00Stefan
34:00whom I never part
34:02with.
34:02Mmm.
34:04Can I grab a...
34:05Go for it, yeah.
34:05That's fine.
34:06I fear this part
34:07of the world.
34:10It's not a catch fire.
34:12Why do you know
34:13that your hair
34:13doesn't catch fire
34:14this?
34:15Why do you think?
34:16Because I tried
34:16burning it once.
34:17Why?
34:19Okay.
34:21We gotta feed
34:22mother again.
34:23Oh, what do we
34:24gotta feed her?
34:25Felicia Cherry Gatorade,
34:27Starry,
34:28and Pink Lemonade.
34:29How does the
34:30scav mother thing work?
34:33I have no idea.
34:35I just got
34:35I just got some text
34:36about it.
34:37Let them all go
34:37and all the time
34:38make it.
34:38Oh, is this
34:39the scav mother?
34:39Yeah.
34:40Uh, it's
34:41Glacier Cherry.
34:43Glacier Cherry.
34:44I'm gonna handle this.
34:45Glacier Cherry,
34:46can you text me
34:47the list of items?
34:48Let's do it.
34:49I have the
34:49top with airheads.
34:50Wait.
34:51I have the
34:51Glacier Cherry.
34:52No way.
34:52Yeah.
34:53This is huge.
34:59I have the
35:29I have the
