00:00Daniel Billings appeared in the Forbes local court this morning via audiovisual link where his
00:07defence lawyer Diane Elston told the court her client pleads guilty to murder. Billings killed
00:14his former partner Molly Tyshurst at her home in Forbes in the New South Wales Central West in
00:19April 2024. The courthouse was full today of family and friends of Miss Tyshurst who were
00:26there to see the guilty plea handed down. Outside the courthouse beforehand there was dozens of
00:33people, more than 50 locals here, family and friends of Miss Tyshurst there to lend their
00:38support to the family ahead of the guilty plea being entered. After the plea was entered Mr Tyshurst,
00:46Tony Tyshurst, Molly's father, spoke to media about the support that he'd received from the
00:52Forbes community and thanked them for their efforts. Every week I'm thankful for some support from the
00:59people of Forbes but today is a special day and I really appreciate the support from the people of
01:06Forbes and the surrounds and all my friends and everywhere and I'd like to thank you very much.
01:13Molly Tyshurst was a child care worker and her death sparked a national conversation about
01:18domestic violence and resulted in law reform in New South Wales around bail legislation. Her former
01:25colleagues at the child care centre where she worked spoke this morning about the importance of
01:30remembering Molly Tyshurst's name and the person she was. She'll never be forgotten. No. She'll always
01:36be remembered as a beautiful lady. We do what we do every day because of her and that's all we can do.
01:43Absolutely keep her memory alive every day. She shines in our centre. We know she's there with us.
01:47In the agreed statements of facts tendered to the court they detailed the months, weeks and hours
01:54leading up to Miss Tyshurst's murder. In them Billings was said to have told Miss Tyshurst a few
02:01months before her death that I will get you if it is the last thing I do. The police won't stop me.
02:07On the day of Miss Tyshurst's murder Billings recorded a series of videos of himself. In one of
02:14those he said he wanted to take Molly for a drive that evening. According to GPS data from Billings' car
02:20he left his home in Parks at 10.35pm. He was then seen entering Miss Tyshurst's home at 11.27pm
02:29before leaving a minute later. In the court documents tendered it is said that it is during
02:35that time Miss Tyshurst was stabbed to death. In a video recorded of himself a short time later
02:42Billings says I just murdered my ex-girlfriend. He was later found the next day at a friend's house
02:48at Fifield north of Parks where he told his friends I killed her. The matter will return
02:55to the New South Wales Supreme Court for an arraignment hearing on December the 12th.
