00:00So guys, like we talked a little bit about before, tell me a little about the significance of playing Coast Guard.
00:05Well, I mean, significance of Coast Guard, it's an industry game.
00:10It's our last game of the season for a reason.
00:13Definitely hyped up the most out of any game.
00:16And then when you get to go out at sea after the season like he's about to do for second sailing, industry game.
00:23You meet the guys that are watching it every single time.
00:26It's a really good game, really good experience.
00:28And how close do guys leave after the game from time to time?
00:32Sometimes the night after.
00:34Last year we had guys leave since we didn't have a bowl game.
00:36We had guys leave that night.
00:38You know, it just depends on what the industry needs, how the maritime industry is at that point, where they need guys around the world.
00:45And what are the bragging rights like on the ship if you win?
00:50It's pretty nice.
00:52When we won, when I went out for first sailing, we had a guy who was previous Coast Guard.
00:58So we had a little bit of bragging rights.
01:00And then last year they had a little bit of bragging rights.
01:02But yeah, definitely a little bit of bragging rights after the game.
01:05Now when you're at sea after a while, how does it kind of stick with you?
01:09It sticks with us a little bit, you know, especially if we have Coast Guard guys on our ship.
01:14They'll definitely be bringing it up every now and then.
01:18But yeah, after a loss, it definitely sucks being out on that ship for a while.
01:21It just adds on to the adversity we got to take.
01:24I mean, eight months is a long time.
01:25You got to be adaptive, get the changes you need to have done.
01:28And after a loss like that, you know, it just makes you want to work harder for the next game,
01:33for that next opportunity.
01:34How it happened last year, you know.
01:36We lost that last game and now I worked my ass off over the offseason.
01:40I think everybody did.
01:41You're ready to get his ass this weekend.
01:44And what's it like training on the ship?
01:45You may not have the best equipment, but you still have the obligation.
01:49Oh yeah.
01:50It really just depends on how well the crew prioritizes actually working out on a ship
01:57and the overall physical fitness of your crew.
02:01You could get ships with golds gin.
02:05And then you can get ships that have four feet of clearance through the ceiling
02:09and it's just a single bench with no weight.
02:11So it really depends on the ship crew.
02:14I mean, you really just got to be adaptable.
02:15You got to do what you can or what you have.
02:18You know, sometimes in my ship I had to do sprints
02:21and I had to do speed work on our flight there.
02:23You know, I got about 50 feet to work in.
02:25I was running up and down, timing myself, doing whatever I could to keep myself in shape.
02:30And what's your message to everybody going to Fenway or watching the game on TV?
02:36I'd say everyone who's playing, taking the moment.
02:39It's a great opportunity for both teams.
02:42For alumni, I think it's a great opportunity to see how well this rivalry
02:47in the Secretary's Cup itself has grown.
02:50And for everyone getting to watch, I think it's just a great experience.
02:55I think Fenway is a way better place to play in our school, their school, for this game.
03:00Yeah, I'd say just have an idea of the history behind our schools.
03:06You know, our school, we had 142 cadets who died at sea, who were midshipmen at our academy.
03:12You know, that's something that we carry deeply with us.
03:14That's why we carry the battle, the battle standard.
03:16We're unique to that.
03:18None of the other circus academies had cadets or students at their school die while going out to sea.
03:23None of the other circus academies had cadets.
