00:00President Trump is firing back at reports that the U.S. is running low on critical weapons,
00:04calling the claims false and promising to go after whoever leaked them.
00:07The president was responding to a report claiming that he had privately expressed
00:11frustration about America's munition stockpile during a recent cabinet meeting and that the
00:16shortages were limiting his options against Iran. Trump flatly denied it. In a social media post,
00:22the president said the U.S. has, quote, massive amounts of munitions, adding that new weapons
00:27are being produced and shipped as needed. He also vowed to hunt down those responsible for
00:31leaking what he called treasonous information, saying his administration will seek long prison
00:37sentences. The White House is also denying the report, insisting President Trump has full confidence
00:41in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. For more on the dispute, what we know about America's weapons
00:47stockpiles and why this matters as tensions with Iran continue, let's bring in The New York Post's
00:52political reporter Ryan King. The president and the Pentagon are disputing that there are concerns
00:58about munition supplies, but there's a lot of like independent analysts that have looked at this
01:03and believe that the U.S. is dangerously low on stockpiles. The government doesn't provide official
01:11numbers of some of these key weapons, but independent experts have been able to study this and make some
01:21pretty educated guesses about what the supply levels are. And there are concerns that we've just been
01:26blowing through them pretty quickly. And a particular concern really is the exquisite munitions,
01:31munitions like Patriot Interceptors, THADs, Atacams, Tomahawks, et cetera, that could take sometimes
01:38two years to make. They could require really advanced facilities to produce them, rare earth material.
01:46So it could be really complicated to boost production. And Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
01:51has been really keen on boosting productions of these things. But it does appear that there are
01:58still these concerns. And even though the White House is disputing it, it makes sense that they would
02:03try to downplay something like this because they would have national security concerns about Iran
02:08or another adversary, seeing that the U.S. might be low on some of these munitions.
02:15Now, the report that had gotten President Trump's attention for The Washington Post that was claiming
02:20that he scolded Pete Hegseth over this issue not being addressed
02:25had indicated that there's some tensions between those two. And Trump flatly denied that there were tensions
02:31with Hegseth. He said that Hegseth is doing an excellent job. And, you know, he, of course,
02:37denied the main point about munitions and said that the U.S. has plenty. And that he was downplaying
02:44the notion that that was a factor in his decision not to renew really heavy strikes against Iran.
02:51Senator Mitch McConnell is finally returning home as he continues his recovery following a health scare
02:56that sidelined him for nearly two months and counting. The Kentucky Republican announced that
03:01he left the rehabilitation facility where he's been convalescing and is returning to his home in
03:05Washington. The senior senator has been taking it easy since being found unconscious in June and
03:10brought to the hospital by ambulance. McConnell thanked his doctors, therapists, hospital staff,
03:15and many of the people who have offered their support during his recovery. The former Senate
03:19majority leader said in a statement, quote,
03:21I'll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period,
03:25and I'll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business.
03:29The 84-year-old is serving the final months of his more than four-decade career in the U.S.
03:33Senate
03:33after announcing he would not seek re-election. Mayor Zoram Mamdani has built a national reputation
03:39as a calm, affable, camera-ready social media star. But according to the Post's reporting,
03:45his public persona may be very different from his private one. More than a dozen elected officials,
03:50consultants, and political insiders told the Post that Mamdani has developed a reputation
03:54behind the scenes as thin-skinned, claiming he personally calls or texts critics,
03:59holds grudges, and closely monitors negative press about him. The report alleges that the
04:04mayor recently reached out to some elected officials after they publicly criticized his rhetoric about
04:08Israel, and has also pressed allies to remove social media posts that he believed reflected poorly
04:13on him or on his political movement. Several sources also claimed Mamdani can take days to respond to
04:19messages unless the issue involves bad press or a public criticism, in which case they say his
04:24response is often immediate. Supporters, however, describe a totally different side of the mayor,
04:29saying he's thoughtful, asks questions, and spends more time listening than talking.
04:33City Hall did not respond to the Post's report.
