U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed reports claiming that Britain halted intelligence sharing over U.S. strikes on drug-trafficking vessels in the Caribbean. Speaking after the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Canada, Rubio branded a CNN report as “fake news” and said U.S. operations have not been affected. He also touched on Venezuela, India’s investigation into the Delhi blast, and concerns over rising West Bank violence that could undermine Gaza peace efforts.

00:00There are reports, rather, that the U.K. is not sharing targeting intelligence.
00:08Yeah, a couple points. The United States, there's reasons why we have those assets in the region,
00:11and that is to collect intelligence, and we're actioning on that.
00:14Obviously, I won't go any deeper when it comes to intelligence matters.
00:17I did see a CNN report yesterday. I'm not going to go into great detail to say that it's a false story.
00:22It's a fake story. And what's happening now is people with a business card that has a government email on it
00:27to become sources because they don't know, they're not even in the know.
00:30So they either have an agenda or they want to make themselves important.
00:32And it's been a plague of story after story that's either inaccurate or misleading,
00:37and that falls in the category of both that story does.
00:39Isn't your assessment that Russia does not really want peace?
00:43Well, we can only go by what we see. I mean, I think they've stated clearly what they want is they want the rest of Donetsk,
00:49and obviously the Ukrainians aren't going to agree to that.
00:51So what we see now is they continue long-range strikes into Ukraine,
00:57obviously to degrade their electrical grid and try to demoralize the country or what have you.
01:05And they've made some gains in Donetsk, and they're losing 7,000 dead soldiers a week from Russia's side.
01:13So as of now, I mean, that's the assessment we have to make.
01:15They've made a demand that Ukraine can't agree to, and so we're sort of where we are at this point.
01:20Mr. Secretary, I was told by the European representative on foreign policy, Kayakalas,
01:29that it was discussed, the Venezuela military operations were discussed with the European.
01:35Not with me. No one raised it. I mean, no one in the meeting raised it.
01:38And it was raised in meetings.
01:39Not with me. They didn't raise it with me.
01:42They may have raised it among themselves, and they all came now from CELAC or whatever they were at.
01:47But it didn't come up once in any of the gatherings that we had, either last night or today.
01:52And will the Saudis get a security deal that is better than the deal that Qatar previously got?
01:58Well, we're still working through all that.
02:00I mean, obviously, all that will be announced just prior to or during the visit.
02:03But we'll have some good agreements to sign with them.
02:06A lot of progress has been made since the president's visit there.
02:08So we're working through that.
02:09I feel good about where it's at.
02:11There's still a few things that need to be tightened up.
02:13Nothing has happened in this entire process that has impeded our ability to identify drug boats and strike them.
02:19Without getting into details on the...
02:21You mentioned the story...
02:22Without getting into details, you'd like details.
02:24Okay, go ahead.
02:24You mentioned the story the other day is fake news.
02:27It's a fake news.
02:28Has there been no change then in UK sharing of intelligence?
02:31We have very strong partnerships with the UK and other countries.
02:33Again, nothing has changed or happened that has impeded in any way our ability to do what we're doing.
02:38Nor are we asking anyone to help us with what we're doing in any realm.
02:42And that includes military.
02:43It clearly was a terrorist attack.
02:45It was a car loaded with highly explosive materials that detonated and killed a lot of people.
02:51But I think they're doing a very good job of carrying out an investigation.
02:55And I think when they have facts, they'll release those facts.
02:58But clearly, I mean, we're aware of the potential that it has.
03:01And so we spoke about that a little bit today.
03:03The potential that it has to become something broader.
03:05But I think we're going to wait to see what their investigation reveals.
03:09We've offered to help, but I think they're very capable in these investigations.
03:12They don't need our help, and they're doing a good job.
03:14But, yes, look, certainly there's some concern about events in the West Bank spilling over
03:18and creating an effect that could undermine what we're doing in Gaza.
03:21We don't expect it to.
03:22We'll do everything we can to make sure it doesn't happen.
03:25All right, let's get out of here before they ground it.
03:29You
