00:00Without ado, Secretary Rubio.
00:07Thank you very much. It's an honor to be here today.
00:10It's an honor to serve as the Secretary of State during a historic presidency.
00:13And it's a historic presidency because the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump,
00:18is someone who is not limited by what others say is possible or what others say is impossible.
00:23He's not limited by some of the things that have happened in the past,
00:26and he's willing to talk to or engage with anyone in the interest of peace.
00:30Always putting the American people and our national security first,
00:33but understanding that in the world that we share with so many others, peace is paramount to all of us.
00:38We are here today because of President Trump's vision.
00:41If we go back just a few months ago, people thought what was happening in Gaza was impossible to solve.
00:4728 hostages that were dead, others that were still living, all these hostages that were being held.
00:51No one thought that that would ever come to a resolution without more fighting and more bloodshed along the way.
00:55In fact, frankly, many thought it was intractable.
00:59And sadly, many of the institutions that have served us well in many cases for the last 70 years
01:04were unable to do anything about it.
01:07But President Trump had the vision and the courage to dream the impossible,
01:11to believe that it was doable, and to pursue it with all of his heart.
01:14And he was, in that capacity, assisted by an extraordinary team.
01:19And I think both Jared and Steve deserve a tremendous amount of credit, Jared Kushner and Steve Woodcoff,
01:25for all the work they put in.
01:28And all of our partners here today.
01:29And now we have this Board of Peace, who I believe's possibilities are endless.
01:34Obviously, with a focus, first and foremost, on making sure that this peace deal in Gaza becomes enduring.
01:40And I know this president has it as its highest priority,
01:42and will give it everything he has to make sure that this is successful.
01:46I also want to acknowledge the extraordinary leaders that are here today.
01:49This is not just a Board of Peace, this is a Board of Action.
01:52Just like President Trump is a President of Action.
01:55A lot of times, people like to give speeches.
01:56I've been to many of these forums, and they're not useless, and they're not, you know, not,
02:01they have utility in many cases.
02:02But oftentimes, in international affairs, we often find ourselves at events
02:06where people are reading these scripted statements,
02:08these strongly worded letters that they put out.
02:10But no action. Nothing happens.
02:12This is a group of leaders that are about action.
02:15And the President of the United States is a President of action, of getting things done.
02:19And today is the beginning of that, of a new era and a new stage that we think is so important,
02:24as a model to the rest of the world of what is possible.
02:26And clearly, the focus is right now on Gaza,
02:29and making sure that the plan that's about to be presented to you here today,
02:32this vision for the future of Gaza, this vision for the future of the region,
02:37is not just possible and promising.
02:40It is our destiny if we put the time and the effort that it requires,
02:43as I know this Board will do.
02:45But I also think it will serve as an example of what's possible in other parts of the world.
02:50Without losing focus on what's before us now,
02:53this is what's possible for other places and other conflicts
02:56that seem impossible to solve right now.
02:58So I want to, on behalf of the United States,
03:01on behalf of the team that worked so hard on this,
03:04thank every single one of the leaders that are here today
03:06and all the countries that have committed to joining,
03:08and many others who are going to join.
03:09You know, others either are not in town today,
03:12or they have to go through some procedure internally in their own country
03:16because of constitutional limitations.
03:18But others will join.
03:19And many want to be a part of this effort
03:20because it is going to be a successful effort.
03:23And you see it reflected here today
03:24among countries of different backgrounds,
03:26from different parts of the world,
03:28majority Christian some, majority Muslim others,
03:32who've come together.
03:33In fact, former adversaries who have joined here
03:36as part of this Board of Peace.
03:38And all was possible, and I want to acknowledge this again,
03:40because of the vision and the drive
03:43of the President of the United States.
03:45So thank you all for joining us here today.
03:47We appreciate it very much.
