00:00A tragic stampede at Elwak Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday, November 12, left six people dead and several others injured during a military equipment exercise.
00:10According to a statement from the Accra Armed Forces, the incident occurred around 6.20 a.m. where an unexpected surge of applicants breached security protocols and rushed through the gate ahead of the scheduled screening.
00:23The injured are receiving treatment at the 37 military hospital while the families of the deceased are being contacted.
00:31In response, the armed forces have suspended all recruitment activities in the greater Accra area.
00:37Videos filmed after the tragedy show would be recruits being asked to leave the stadium and return the following day.
