00:00Taiwanese lawmaker Pu Ma Shen has testified at Germany's parliament about Chinese threats to Taiwan.
00:06He focused on Beijing's use of disinformation and how Taiwan has worked to combat its spread.
00:12Because when you heard the offline rumor from your neighborhood or from your friends, it's more credible.
00:18And then when it moves to online, when you heard it from some sort of online influencer
00:23who talks about fortune-telling or cute animals in common, and when they raise some sort of political issue, they look very credible.
00:33This comes shortly after China opened an investigation into Shen over, quote,
00:38Taiwanese separatist activities and said he's not allowed to travel abroad.
00:42China claims Taiwan as its own and has not rolled out taking the country by force.
00:47Shen is a member of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, which Beijing views as separatists.
00:52Shen also posted to social media about his situation, saying China cannot stop him from going overseas.
01:15China also issued bounties for two more Taiwanese influencers critical of Beijing,
01:20calling on the public to assist with their arrest.
