China has filed a criminal case against a prominent lawmaker from Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party. The move is a part of Beijing’s broader strategy to pressure Taiwan.

00:14accused ruling Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party lawmaker Pu Ma Shen of engaging in activities to split the country,

00:21and announced that it had opened a criminal case against him.

00:26Taiwan's mainland affairs council, which handles cross-ray matters, condemned the move.
