Trump signed a highly controversial government funding bill into law on November 12, reopening the U.S. government after a 43-day shutdown.
For weeks, disagreements between Republicans and Democrats about ACA subsidies, SNAP benefits, and more kept the bill from being passed by the Senate, resulting in the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
The bill was passed by the House Wednesday in a 222-209 vote after the Senate approved the legislation Monday, when eight Democrats voted with Republicans to break the filibuster and end the shutdown.
The official end to the shutdown came when Trump signed the bill into law late Wednesday night.
