LEOPARD SCARES A LITTLE DUNG BEETLE
WITH VID
BY SALONI MATHUR
Watch this hilarious video in which a small dung beetle can be seen rolling a ball of dirt and gets shocked by a leopard stalking it.
This video was captured by Nick Kleer, a wildlife guide & photographer in Hoedspruit, South Africa.
The video shows a dung beetle, unaware of its surroundings, rolling a small ball of dirt across the sand.
But, unbeknownst to it, standing at a short distance is a leopard that takes an interest in this small, hard-working beetle.
Curious, the leopard walks up behind it and tries to sniff it out, and the dung beetle, sensing the presence of a predator, freezes in its path before hurriedly continuing down the path.
Nick said: “The way the dung beetle froze for a second, it was almost as if it was praying for its life.
“Then it continued on its way without being disturbed by the leopard.
“Leopards are known to eat dung beetles and other insects as part of their varied and opportunistic diet.
“But maybe he took mercy on this one and spared its life.”
