00:00Here in the low country of South Carolina, I bring pattern, color, and creativity into my client's home
00:06alongside my partner of crime, Chelsea, an interior designer extraordinaire who also keeps me in check
00:13and my general contractor, Grumpy, who can build anything that we dream of.
00:18You don't need me? I don't need you. I love that.
00:20And also happens to be my dad. Oh my gosh.
00:23There's color everywhere. Despite my name, my world is a rainbow.
00:30Here at last. What are you talking about?
00:38I've been waiting on you. Oh please. Do you want to leave it? Not even for a second. No, that's not quite true.
00:43Okay, so this is Brittany and Chase Elliott. Yes.
00:46So their house is already really cute, but they are ready to add a whole lot of color.
00:52I'm very excited to meet Brittany and Chase Elliott.
00:54They have this beautiful 1920s home and they have sent me some photos of what their house looks right now.
01:01And they have a really fun, funky style, very like pop-arty, but they just haven't had the opportunity to make their house feel like them.
01:11And so here we are.
01:12Welcome.
01:13Hi, how are you?
01:14I'm good.
01:14After today, we're going to be asking them to hand over the keys to their house and just really trust us to do exactly what they want.
01:23And they're going to be staying at her parents' house.
01:26So they're not going to know what they're going to get until they get it.
01:29No pressure.
01:31We are so excited.
01:32Oh my gosh.
01:33So your home is so charming.
01:35Tell us a little bit about it.
01:37So it was built in the 1920s and it's a kit home, which was popular back then.
01:43Lots in this neighborhood are very long and narrow.
01:45So they turn the house sideways, which is why we have the two front doors.
01:48And why our fireplace is on the front of our house.
01:51That checks out.
01:52Yeah.
01:53So tell us what you want to do here.
01:55We bought this house when we were engaged.
01:57So since then, we've gotten married.
01:59We've had a kid.
02:01It's just lacking color and it's sort of like a blank canvas right now.
02:05We really want to spruce it up.
02:07Okay.
02:07And what do you feel like is your style?
02:10I lean towards funky but sophisticated.
02:13I'm not afraid of color.
02:15I think he's on board too.
02:17I love that.
02:18Yeah.
02:18So in terms of timeline, our son is turning four soon and we'd really like to give him a big boy room for his birthday.
02:27Hopefully with bunk beds.
02:28Is there going to be a surprise big boy room?
02:30Yes.
02:31Okay.
02:31I love that.
02:32Obviously, we love color.
02:34We love to have fun in spaces but we also really love surprises.
02:38So the fact that they're willing to hand us over their keys for the next three weeks so that we can give them this amazing surprise in the end is something that I'm very excited about.
02:50Where do you think is the best place to start?
02:51Well, we're in the living room now which is one of the rooms that needs some help.
02:55Okay.
02:56There's no really designated playroom in our homes so storage.
02:59Storage is a big thing.
03:01Are you open to built-ins so we can create some storage?
03:05Definitely.
03:06You've got enough distance between the corner and these doors so built-ins will tuck right in there.
03:11And a window seat will look really nice.
03:14Thinking about colors, are we open to all things?
03:17I'm open.
03:18We do want to keep our sofas.
03:20Okay.
03:21Anything that complements that.
03:22What about the rug?
03:23We're open to replacing it.
03:24Okay, perfect.
03:25Do you like your ceiling fan?
03:27No.
03:28That's good.
03:28I was going to say it won't survive hurt.
03:31All right.
03:31I feel like we have a good handle of this room.
03:34If you want to show us where to go next.
03:36Right this way.
03:37So this is the dining room, which as you can see, it's limited seating.
03:44No big parties happening.
03:46No.
03:47So we would love to have at least a six-seat option.
03:51As always, we are looking for storage.
03:53So then probably a banquette from the edge of this to the edge of that.
03:57And then would you maybe consider replacing this window?
04:00Because it has a hole in it.
04:03I don't know if you noticed that.
04:04Yes, there is definitely a water issue.
04:06I don't know if we can solve that.
04:08You can fix anything.
04:09You can fix anything.
04:10Yes, right.
04:11You can fix anything.
04:12That's what I needed to hear.
04:13That's true.
04:13Anything can be fixed.
04:15Yes.
04:17So how do you feel about wallpaper?
04:19I would be open to wallpaper.
04:21I don't want it to be too formal.
04:22Yeah.
04:23I think you could probably find a fun wallpaper.
04:26I like fun.
04:27Yeah.
04:27So maybe have our color palette be somewhere in this.
04:32I like that.
04:33You curious what I think?
04:35Nope.
04:36Well, okay.
04:37I won't tell you that I like it.
04:38You do like it?
04:39Of course I do.
04:40Yeah.
04:41How about the ceiling?
04:43Mmm.
04:44There's not a natural break.
04:46Unless we wanted to add one.
04:47We're going to have to put some thought into the ceiling.
04:49Okay.
04:50You want to talk about the kitchen?
04:51Sure.
04:52Yeah.
04:54Okay.
04:55Do you have any specific needs in the kitchen?
04:58We would love to do some window treatments.
05:01Okay.
05:01That's obviously an easy way to tie it in with the rest of the house.
05:05The black cabinetry.
05:06I don't have a problem with the black.
05:08Okay.
05:08We can bring in pops of the color that we go with to sort of tie it all together.
05:13Does that sound good?
05:14Yeah.
05:14Chase?
05:15Yeah.
05:15Okay.
05:16That's all the downstairs.
05:17Is there anything upstairs you want us to look at?
05:19Yes.
05:20Okay.
05:20Will you lead the way?
05:22Oh, this has nice light.
05:28Yes.
05:29In our bedroom, it does get a ton of light.
05:31It's funny because the ceilings are fairly low, but it doesn't feel like that because of
05:35how much light.
05:36No, this is less than eight feet.
05:39It's like seven foot six.
05:40Oh, you've done this before.
05:44Okay.
05:45What do you want to change in here?
05:47Some of this furniture we've had forever.
05:50We'd like to keep the blue bed.
05:52Okay.
05:52What do you want your bedroom to feel like?
05:55Calming.
05:56Comfortable.
05:57From all that partying downstairs.
05:59Right.
05:59We need a safe place.
06:01We need a safe place.
06:02A safe place.
06:02Yeah.
06:04Okay.
06:04So, it's not a lot that has to change, but I feel like the room is going to completely
06:09transform.
06:10Yeah.
06:10That's great.
06:11What's next?
06:12Our son's room right across the hall.
06:13Okay.
06:14How cute.
06:19So, this is our son's room.
06:21So, this is a secret big boy mission.
06:24Yeah.
06:24Yeah.
06:25So, you talked about bump beds.
06:27Yes.
06:28We could do some fun built-ins in this corner.
06:31Yes.
06:31Father, don't...
06:33Don't what?
06:33Don't poo-poo my idea.
06:35No, no.
06:35I'm just thinking about you don't want people conking their head when they sit up in the bed.
06:39But you can figure it out.
06:41Oh, yes.
06:41Of course.
06:42Great.
06:42Love that.
06:43That's all I needed to know.
06:44It's just math.
06:44Is this a room we're open to wallpaper in?
06:47Sure.
06:47I think he would like a lot of color.
06:50Does he have a favorite color?
06:52Currently, it's red.
06:53Okay.
06:54What if we did sort of like this color family?
06:57Yeah.
06:58Really drawing inspiration from the rug.
07:00It also pulls in a lot of the colors from downstairs.
07:03Yeah.
07:04I like that.
07:05This could be really cool.
07:06Yeah.
07:06He'll love it, I hope.
07:08We have a birthday surprise that we have to make happen, so...
07:12Do you have a house key?
07:13I do.
07:13Well, you hand me that.
07:16That way we can get in, and you can't.
07:19Them handing their keys over to us really allows us to be as creative as we possibly can.
07:26But this timeline is way shorter than what I'm used to, so I'm kind of terrified, to be honest.
07:32You typically get it all done the last three days of the project anyway.
07:35Well, that's true.
07:43So today we get started with what construction there is to be done on Elliott.
07:49There's not a great amount, but there are some windows on the ground floor that have got a little bit of rot in them, and a little wonkiness that's going to get fixed.
07:57What's going on over here?
08:00Hey!
08:01How are you?
08:02Good to see you.
08:03Doing well.
08:04Doing well.
08:05What have you guys found over here?
08:06Well, we found the bottom sill is rotted out.
08:09How about the wall framing adjacent to it?
08:12The wall framing looks okay.
08:14Our jacks and kings look okay.
08:16The damage to the windows appears to be somewhat superficial.
08:20A couple of the sills are rotted, but it's very manageable.
08:24That looks like it's got negative slopes.
08:26It's almost negative.
08:28Yeah.
08:28I have a little handy-dandy tool right here.
08:29You can prove it?
08:30Yeah.
08:31Let's see.
08:331.6.
08:35It should be closer to 10.
08:37So this one is definitely coming out.
08:39It's got a little frowny face going, too.
08:40It does.
08:41It does.
08:42With the windows, given the age of this house, it's a surprise that so little must be done.
08:49So it should be pretty quick work.
08:51Unless Cray and Chelsea show up with unexpected chaos.
08:58We'll see.
09:07We have about two and a half weeks left before we give the Elliot's their house back.
09:11Yep.
09:11We've already gotten all of their stuff out of the house.
09:14The small amount of construction that needed to be done is done.
09:16And now Chelsea and I get to get in there with our colors and our fabrics, the wallpapers,
09:21and really start to hash out what the final product is going to be while we're actually standing in the space.
09:26Let's start over here.
09:28Chelsea's an interior designer extraordinaire with the rare ability to understand my vision.
09:35Which is a difficult thing to pull out if I'm dying.
09:40After talking to Brittany, she said this is going to be their main living space.
09:44So they want a fun, comfortable place where they can all sort of gather.
09:48Makes sense.
09:48And to me, especially when you consider the color of the sofa, blue is the way to go.
09:54So we have four blues.
09:56It's one thing to dream up something in your head, and it's a completely different thing to see it in the actual room where it's to live.
10:03That's the tip of a lifetime right there.
10:05Every room has its own light signature, I would say.
10:09And so every color looks different in every room.
10:13These definitely check cozy.
10:16This definitely checks fun.
10:18This might check both.
10:19But we have to make sure that whatever color you pick is going to work with the green sofa, but the green sofa is no longer in this room.
10:27Or is it?
10:28Hold, please.
10:29Okay.
10:30Don't worry.
10:31Perfect.
10:32It's just a wee little pillow.
10:34Oh, my gosh.
10:38Top left is our answer.
10:40It complements the green nicely, and then it checks all of her boxes.
10:45I agree.
10:46I feel like it's going to be a really good balance in the space.
10:49You're going to have these beautiful cabinets painted full dip with the sofas, little table, blankets, pillows.
10:57And the light fixture that's in the dining room, we're going to paint red, and we're going to put it in here.
11:03I love it.
11:03Okay.
11:04Next room.
11:07Okay.
11:08Are you making fun of my waddle?
11:10A little bit.
11:11Okay.
11:11So, new table, new chairs, new rug, a banquette, wallpaper.
11:17Move that light fixture into the living room, and then this is the fabric that is going in the banquette.
11:22The fabric for the banquette is yellow, and they have a really fun and funky vibe.
11:27So, I love it.
11:28It is perfect for them, and it brings some color in from the wallpaper.
11:32Anytime you can pop some yellow up, it's going to be good.
11:34But I am really struggling on how to make these wiggle lines and dots into something beautiful.
11:40You talked about painting a banquette the same color as the cabinets.
11:44We can see what it looks like, but I have an alternate suggestion, and I want to see what you think about it.
11:49Okay.
11:50This is just not my cup of tea.
11:52I'm sure you're going to do great things with it.
11:53I just don't know.
11:54Well, listen, if you look at their art and everything that they have in their home, their taste is clearly very, like, pop-arty.
12:02And I feel like this wallpaper feels very much their style.
12:07It's going to go really well with all of the things that they already have.
12:11And I think, more than anything, it ties in the black with all the other colors that we want to use really, really beautifully.
12:19No, it's too stark.
12:20That's exactly what I was going to say.
12:21It's too stark.
12:22So, let's try this green.
12:24I'm not really sure of this, but I am sure of you.
12:28And so, I'm just having to trust you on this.
12:30It's the first time for everything.
12:32We will see.
12:35I will be honest.
12:37When you first told me these three things were going to go together, I was worried.
12:41Mm-hmm.
12:43And now I'm 90% in.
12:44You know, I feel like until we see it all come together, it's always like a hold-your-breath moment.
12:52But we've never been sorry.
12:54I was going to say, you don't take big chances.
12:55You don't get any big rewards.
12:58This is going to be the most fun dining room.
13:01The banquette stripe wallpaper with the fun pops of color.
13:06There's a lot going on, so let's keep the chandelier neutral.
13:09But we're going to need to create separation on the ceiling because this ceiling is going to want to be white,
13:15and this ceiling is going to be a full dip of the blue.
13:17Yeah.
13:18There's not a natural breaking point between the living room and the dining room, so we need to make one.
13:24Well, it's easy.
13:25I mean, there's a beam going right through the kitchen anyway.
13:28Let's just turn it the other direction and mimic it.
13:31It's going to be very, very pretty.
13:33My legs are asleep, so we're heading to the kitchen now.
13:37Okay.
13:37Oh, I'm very interested to see how you pull this together because how do we bring color into the kitchen with the black cabinetry?
13:43Right, and they really love the cabinets.
13:45It's one of the first big changes.
13:47And they're beautiful.
13:48And they're made in this house, and I feel like the key in pulling it all together is the wallpaper.
13:53It's been a hard one to really fall in love with, but I think I'm coming around to it.
13:58The wallpaper has bits of the black, and it has bits of all of the other colors that we can tie in,
14:03and I think it's going to make that space really fun.
14:06So just having the wallpaper in here alone is going to start to bring color in.
14:11Right.
14:12But I'm going to show you something that I was thinking for the windows.
14:15Not in the plan?
14:17I mean, it was in the plan in my head.
14:22Let's continue the trim color into the kitchen.
14:25Another thing is cafe cartons.
14:28Cafe could be really cute.
14:30It's a common sense way to bring color and pattern into a kitchen that doesn't have any color and pattern.
14:36So we're going to bring the wallpaper and get a ton of art.
14:39Paint the trim.
14:41Get fabric to bring color in on the shades.
14:44Fun light pictures.
14:45And a rug.
14:46Yeah, we'll need to do a new rug.
14:48Okay, so should we go upstairs?
14:49Two rooms left.
14:50A lot of decisions.
14:51Yeah.
14:53All right.
14:54Primary bedroom.
14:55They want this room to feel calming and comforting.
14:59It's a bedroom.
14:59It's their bedroom.
15:00You know, they want it to be cozy.
15:02Yeah.
15:02We're keeping their bed, which is like a lighter blue velvet.
15:07It's a good bed.
15:08And I feel like the blush tones will look really good with it.
15:10So let's just toss a couple of the samples up on the wall.
15:15For the primary bedroom, I pulled one of the prettiest colors that I could even imagine for a bedroom.
15:20I'm so excited because they're keeping that beautiful blue bed of theirs.
15:25Those colors pop against each other.
15:26So it's going to be good.
15:28The first one feels in the same tone as the blue.
15:32The middle one is definitely a no, while the third one feels too dark.
15:38Let's go with the one on the left.
15:40This one was my first instinct.
15:42So we're going to do a full dip.
15:45Keep the bed.
15:46Pick out some curtains.
15:47We'll place the ceiling fan.
15:49Get furniture.
15:50And they have a red rug that we could try to keep in here.
15:53So I love the thought of that.
15:55I think it's going to be nice.
15:56Want to go to Helms' room?
15:57That's going to Helms' room.
15:58I'm really very, very excited to have that one.
16:02Okay.
16:02Last room.
16:04So this is our wallpaper.
16:06It's so cool.
16:07Let's pick trim color.
16:08This is, let's start with the one that I think I'm going to like.
16:11Red is Helms' favorite color.
16:13We wanted to find a wallpaper that could grow with them over time.
16:17And then pull color out of the wallpaper for the trim because it's funky and fun, which
16:23we know that Elliot's like.
16:27You're about to spill that paint.
16:30Okay.
16:30I know my book.
16:32All right.
16:32It's this one.
16:38It's the best.
16:39Yeah.
16:40So let's talk about the bunks.
16:42Okay.
16:43So we have enough space to do two extra long twin bunks.
16:47Inside, we're going to put sconces.
16:49There will be a little tiny bookshelf.
16:51And it will have a built-in dresser on this end.
16:54That's going to be so cute.
16:55I know.
16:59Everywhere.
17:00You owe me a dress.
17:02You leaned into the paint for the record.
17:04Because there was 84 bottles open at one time.
17:07You can show your husband when you get home.
17:08What color red we picked up?
17:10I think it was all worth it in the end.
17:12Yeah.
17:13See for yourself.
17:14We know what red we're going to use.
17:15I feel like this house is going to come together.
17:17And hopefully we can get it all done in time for Helms' birthday.
17:20So I might as well just dump this on my head.
17:23I need a bath.
17:30Painting has started at the Elliott House.
17:32And the trim piece that's going to separate the living room from the kitchen is going up.
17:37It's going to take a few days before we can get in there.
17:39Because the painters are going to need to prime everything and then paint.
17:43So we are going way out to Wyatt's Cattle Creek Cabinets to discuss a couple details for the
17:50cabinetry.
17:51Have you been out to the shop yet?
17:52I have not been out to the shop.
17:53It's an adventure.
17:55You get to see a really cool shop.
17:57All of this stuff.
17:58And it's literally near a cattle creek.
18:00Y'all fell your breath.
18:01There's also donkeys.
18:03You're going to have a blast.
18:05What do we need to talk about today?
18:07The banquette?
18:08Yes.
18:08And we need to talk about the cabinetry and bookshelves that are going in the living room.
18:12Yeah, so I want to do this wavy, scallopy thing on the bookshelves.
18:17But I need you to see it and make sure we both think it will work.
18:21I already love it.
18:23Are these Wyatt's silos with you?
18:25Yep.
18:26And there's the doggies!
18:28Feels like we're going to go see Santa's workshop a little bit.
18:30It kind of does.
18:31I want to try the magic.
18:33You ready?
18:34Yep.
18:37Come in.
18:38Hello.
18:39Wyatt.
18:39Look at you.
18:40You've got Elliot up.
18:41Sure do.
18:42Perfect.
18:43Today's a good day.
18:44Okay, so we ordered the bits to make these tambured panels.
18:49Yeah, so this is the dining room.
18:51Yeah.
18:52Except the cabinets will be different.
18:54Those drawers will be invisible because the, um...
18:58Tambour.
18:59Tambour?
19:00Sure.
19:00Tambouring.
19:01Tambouring is where you create bumps on the outside.
19:05Fluting is where you create bumps going down inside.
19:09So this is what it's going to look like.
19:11Yeah.
19:11Well, so these are...
19:12Very big, though.
19:13These are the one-inch tambours.
19:15On the banquette, we're going to do an inch and a half.
19:17We're getting tambouring done on the banquette bench as well as the cabinetry panels in the
19:23living room so that it just kind of flows together and balances well.
19:27We're mirroring it, but Wyatt can do it.
19:30No big deal.
19:31Yeah.
19:31Yep.
19:32So I want to talk to you about the built-ins.
19:35Okay, so this is what we're dealing with.
19:37Yeah.
19:37That's cool.
19:38You said you wanted the sides to be scallop.
19:40I just need to know how wide do you want them and then what kind of curves do you want?
19:44Okay, hold on.
19:45Yeah, I think I have two.
19:47So if this is the face frame, this would be a scallop-y wave that went like this the
19:53whole way up.
19:53And I know this is not exactly CAD work, but what are you talking about?
19:59That's exactly what we wanted to look like.
20:01Can you just put this under your machine?
20:03Yeah.
20:05Yeah.
20:06Okay.
20:06Yeah.
20:06Adding the scallop edges to the cabinetry in the living room was such a great idea.
20:11Yeah.
20:11The fact that he can pivot when we change our mind is really magic.
20:15We are really excited to see how it's all going to come together.
20:24Painting is coming along and I am so excited to get in there and see what it's starting to
20:30look like.
20:30I know.
20:31And see what it's starting to come to life.
20:32It's painting for the best day ever.
20:34It's going to be good.
20:36I'm excited.
20:37If it's not, what do we do?
20:38We repaint.
20:40Woo!
20:41They got further than I thought.
20:42Oh, the color looks good.
20:44That's why you hire quality contractors.
20:47Truth.
20:47Like us.
20:49Oh my gosh.
20:50I already have paint on myself.
20:52Well, here we are.
20:53I feel like this color is perfect.
20:55It's going to give them everything that they ask for.
20:57It's going to be fun.
20:58It's going to be cozy.
20:59It's going to make for a great place to gather.
21:01It's a lot of fingers.
21:02The green sofa is going to be perfect with it.
21:06It is.
21:06The key was finding wallpaper that ties in the black, but is also the foundation for
21:12all the other color that we bring in the rest of the house.
21:14Speaking of the rest of the house.
21:16Well, let's go this way.
21:17We can't go that way.
21:18It's going to do it this way.
21:19Okay.
21:19Let's go.
21:21Oh.
21:23Look at this.
21:24The paint looks really good.
21:26I'm glad that we did the green.
21:28Me too.
21:29I really love it.
21:30And the bench will be there.
21:31And it'll be green.
21:32And now our pretty little beam that separates.
21:34Uh-huh.
21:35In my brain, this was going to be the color of the ceiling.
21:39But I think it's cool.
21:41If we hadn't put that there, the ceiling wouldn't have worked.
21:44By the way, this has got to come down and go red.
21:46And these are all still up.
21:48Well, they're not electricians.
21:50That's true.
21:52Okay.
21:53I have a pink room to see.
21:55Oh, that looks good.
21:59I've been dreaming of painting something this color.
22:02This is great.
22:03If you're sleeping in this room and this being, like, your safe, cozy spot, this is going to
22:08feel good in here.
22:09It already does.
22:09This is going to be a mood.
22:11Let's make our mental list of everything we need for this room.
22:13Okay.
22:14So, we have four drapery panels coming in.
22:16Uh-huh.
22:17We need to find an antique piece for over here.
22:19Do we have to have an overhead light?
22:21I'm not excited about the flush mount.
22:23I think we may need to just get a cap and put beautiful lamps.
22:27Oh, she has beautiful lamps.
22:28She has lamps already.
22:30This feels kind of romantical.
22:32Oh, you want to hug me?
22:33No.
22:34I'm not a big toucher, but I really love this color.
22:38Can we go see another one?
22:39Yeah, let's go look at something.
22:41We just need to measure for the bamboo line.
22:44Yes.
22:44And then we can do what we want the rest of the day.
22:46Love that.
22:4728 and a half.
22:49Are you writing this down?
22:51Yeah.
22:52I am.
22:54By 52.
22:57Look, I forgot about those.
22:58They were on these windows that are the same size as those windows, so we can reuse them.
23:03Well, that's good.
23:04I'll grab them.
23:04Let's see if I don't want them to get paint on them.
23:06The curtain rods from Helms' room are exactly what we need for the primary bedroom.
23:11Let's save some money.
23:12Yeah.
23:12Let's put them somewhere in the plastic.
23:14Put them somewhere safe.
23:16Ah!
23:17Things are moving fast.
23:19Paint and wallpaper probably will be done when we come back.
23:22And I'm cautiously optimistic we'll be done in time for Helms' birthday.
23:27Okay, let's go.
23:28Ha ha ha.
23:36I'm headed over to Elliot.
23:38I'm looking forward to meeting Gray and Chelsea there and see how progress is coming along.
23:44Wyatt has installed the living room cabinets with his scalloped edges and tampered faces
23:50along with the banquette in the dining room.
23:53Wallpaper is in, or is at least in process.
23:56And in upstairs in Helms' room, the bunk beds and the dresser have been installed.
24:01So, it's getting very close.
24:03And I'm expecting to see it nearly done.
24:07Hello?
24:08Where is everybody?
24:13Well, lo and behold, I walk in the house and the two people I expected I'm coming there
24:18to meet are not there.
24:20What?
24:23Hey, bro.
24:24Where are you?
24:25I'm in my car.
24:27Why are you not here?
24:28Gray throwing up because she's sick.
24:31Kelvin has the whole street ready to have a truck.
24:34And life happens.
24:36Well, I drive up here two hours and nobody's here to greet me.
24:41I'm very upset.
24:41I'm sorry.
24:42Well, let's just take a little walk through.
24:44Let me show you this dining room.
24:47What is the walking room that I haven't seen in person?
24:51Oh, I like it way better on the wall than that little tiny sample.
24:56What do you think, Grump?
24:58I think it looks good.
24:59You needed the black dots.
25:01Without the dots, the cabinets would have been a problem.
25:04Yes.
25:05It's getting there, but we need arms and fabric.
25:08Can we go see the wallpaper upstairs, please?
25:10Sure.
25:12I mean, I'm here by myself.
25:13I got nothing else to do.
25:15I can go upstairs.
25:16I don't know why I've got to be the arms, ears, and legs for these girls.
25:21You know, I'm running up and down the stairs.
25:24I mean, they're half my age.
25:26Why do I have to do that?
25:27I don't know, but we've got to show them how their job is going.
25:31Where's the wallpaper?
25:35Seriously, it's all taped up like a crime scene?
25:39Yes, it is.
25:40Are they still prepping that bed?
25:41Yes.
25:42Okay.
25:44So I bet you, honey, that the wallpaper girls just couldn't get in there.
25:48I'm going to text them and make sure that they can come back.
25:50Well, I can tell you, these guys are doing a really nice job on this.
25:56If you see all this yellow, they're filling this.
25:58Now they'll come back, they'll prime it again.
26:01And when this is all said and done, it's going to be really nice.
26:04Always have to have faith.
26:05All right, kiddo.
26:06Hope everybody feels better.
26:08Love you.
26:08Bye-bye.
26:08Bye-bye.
26:09The fans and lights still need to come down from the ceiling, and the bunks still need
26:14to be painted.
26:14But really, the only thing holding us up at this point is getting the wallpaper finished.
26:19But you just can't imagine what the finished product is going to be until Gray and Chelsea
26:24place the furniture and get the last little details in.
26:27And I'm hoping they can get it together, because we've got to be done for Helms' birthday.
26:42Gray isn't feeling very well today, so it's all me going to check on the banquette cushion,
26:47and I really can't wait to see how it looks.
26:49Hi, y'all.
26:50Hi, Ms. Helms.
26:51How are you?
26:52I'm wonderful.
26:53How are you doing?
26:53I've missed you.
26:54Miss you as well.
26:55Oh, Calvin is one of those people that, he just makes you feel good when you see them.
27:00Yes, you have.
27:01There it is.
27:01I see it.
27:02Oh, that's the one.
27:03Holy moly.
27:04I thought it was those blue ones back there.
27:06Get out of town.
27:07He's always playing jokes on me, and then he likes to see me panning.
27:11Holy moly, that's pretty.
27:13Yes, ma'am.
27:13Turned out lovely.
27:14It is.
27:15How?
27:15As usual.
27:16You can't even see a seam.
27:18Yeah, it's so long.
27:18How are we getting this in my car?
27:20That's what we're thinking about.
27:22I'm just going to cut it right down the middle.
27:24If you cut this in half, I want half off.
27:28It is really big.
27:30It's ginormous, actually.
27:32And we're going to need a big old truck to haul this thing.
27:37I didn't wrap it, because I was going to see how you were going to go with it.
27:40I really think that what we're going to have to do is deliver it, because it's not going
27:43in my car, but it is really pretty.
27:46This banquette is gorgeous, and it's going to tie the kitchen together perfectly.
27:50We'll figure it out.
27:51We always do.
27:52Oh, I know you will.
27:52No, I'll say we cut it in three.
27:54We cut it in three pieces.
27:55We're not cutting it.
27:56You cut it out.
28:05This is the day I have been looking forward to the most.
28:08I know.
28:09The day has arrived that the wallpaper is up.
28:11You sure?
28:12I mean, if that room is red, I'm going to cry and I'm going to go home.
28:15I was definitely not expecting to have to see the whole thing red.
28:19Yes.
28:19It was a shock.
28:20Yes.
28:20It was a little bit of a shock, but also a happy accident.
28:24So sometimes when you say, please prime the wall, they pick whatever color they want.
28:29But it actually is a nice solid surface for the wallpaper to go up on with no lines to
28:33bleed through.
28:34Red is just their favorite color.
28:35Yeah.
28:36But at least we know it started.
28:38So let's go up and see what it looks like.
28:40Oh my gosh.
28:42Hey, Paul.
28:43Hi, Grace.
28:44This looks so good.
28:46It looks so much better than the bright red dungeon room.
28:49I agree.
28:49This completely transformed everything.
28:52It's beautiful.
28:53And it hung well.
28:53Good choice.
28:54It was so red in here.
28:56Not anymore.
28:56I do think we need to bring in some antiques to bring those wood tones in.
29:01And then the wood blinds will bring in.
29:03There's some more wood tones.
29:04Berkey tones.
29:06Oh, we need knobs on those drawers.
29:08We just need to find some simple brass knobs.
29:12But this room is amazingly cool.
29:15I just think why I love it so much is that it has a sophistication to it that's going to
29:20mature with them.
29:21This is not baby room.
29:23No, it has the coolest vibe.
29:24Polly.
29:25Bravo.
29:26Yay.
29:27I love it, too.
29:27I think he will as well.
29:29It's perfect.
29:29It's really cute.
29:31I agree.
29:31I am so proud of ourselves because we're not only going to look amazing, but we are on
29:36schedule.
29:36I even would dare say we're ahead of schedule.
29:38I think we actually are.
29:40First time for everything.
29:41First time for everything.
29:42I love it.
29:43Let's not count our chickens before they hatch.
29:46We still have to shop.
29:47We still have to style.
29:49We still have to do all the last minute thingy-mobbers.
29:52Don't ruin my life.
29:56Don't drop it.
30:05We are down to the final hours, and there is so much to get done today.
30:11There's lots of stuff to get up on the walls.
30:13There's curtains, lights, and shades to install.
30:16Bedding, rugs, and knick-knacks to still figure out.
30:18But of course, in typical fashion, I woke up this morning to chaos.
30:26I talked to the lady, and she said we can do the dining room table and the chairs, and
30:31if they don't work, we will switch them out again.
30:35Well, we just have to pick whichever one is the best option.
30:39Yeah.
30:39Okay.
30:40Bye.
30:41Okay, bye.
30:41I discovered that the dining room table is not going to arrive in time, so Chelsea is
30:48out scrambling to see if she can find another one, but I don't have any idea what we're going
30:53to do if we can't find something.
30:54Where's my dad?
30:56I have so many other things to worry about that I can't even think about that right now.
31:01I just have to trust that Chelsea's got it.
31:03Garrett?
31:04Yeah?
31:04There might be some trial and error with this, a little bit.
31:09Yeesh.
31:11This is hard.
31:13Deliots have collected so much great art over the years, so it's really good because we
31:17have so many things to pick from, but it's also really bad because there's so many things
31:21to pick from.
31:24Hello?
31:26It's just the person I needed to see.
31:28Is there a voice I know?
31:30I'm trying to hang a gallery wall.
31:32Oh, brother, what do you want?
31:33You're good at, like, packing a car, so you should be good at this.
31:38Should be.
31:38Okay.
31:39Hold that up, Garrett.
31:41And then that one can go there.
31:44There.
31:45I got two arms.
31:47Let's do it.
31:48Dad, go help Garrett.
31:49If you would like to explain Grace's process for putting together a gallery wall, I couldn't
31:56possibly tell you.
31:57She couldn't tell you either.
31:58I could kind of.
32:00No, well, you just make it happen.
32:02Sorry, guys.
32:03No, you can't.
32:05You want me to tell you how I do it?
32:07Please, tell me.
32:08You pick the cornerstone piece, and then you pick the next one, and you just fill it in
32:13like a puzzle.
32:14And you make sure it's all evenly weighted, visually.
32:18And then it's like Tetris after that.
32:20It's like a puzzle, but it's not a puzzle with a predefined answer.
32:23It's like a puzzle that you make up as you go along.
32:25Yeah, and you can't really do it wrong.
32:30Hey.
32:32Hold on.
32:33Um, I found a perfect table.
32:36I've sent you pictures, okay?
32:38Let me hang up.
32:38I'll call you right back.
32:39Okay, bye.
32:40Bye.
32:40Okay, so Chelsea called me and has saved the day because she has found the exact dining
32:46room table that's not going to be delivered in time.
32:49The only catch is that we have to take the one from the showroom floor, but it's in perfect
32:54condition, and we get it at a discount.
32:56Okay, bye.
32:57Okay, bye.
32:58So, crisis averted once again, just proving further that chaos reigns.
33:05Right?
33:06I don't like that.
33:07Hey, Gray.
33:09Hello.
33:10Dining room table's on the way.
33:12Look at these two rugs.
33:14That one's better.
33:15This one?
33:16Yeah, I think so.
33:17How many snacks did you bring?
33:21Ah!
33:23I feel like chaos drives me.
33:26Like, I thrive in chaos because I've had to learn how to for all of these years.
33:32That does here.
33:34Okay.
33:34It's like when you're in college and you say it's until 4 a.m. the night before.
33:39You write your essay.
33:40You didn't do that?
33:41Not take this advice.
33:43Did you do your essays ahead of time?
33:44Of course I did.
33:45I did not.
33:47Okay, let me grab a bowl.
33:48This rug is not working out with where that light is.
33:51Down for Skype.
33:52Working with Gray and Chelsea can be vexing at times.
33:57You took the peg out of one shelf and that's how you fixed it?
34:00Yeah, that is correct.
34:01That's not helpful.
34:02It is helpful.
34:03It can be innervating.
34:05Invigorating?
34:06Innervating?
34:07Innervating as in innerva.
34:09Nerve.
34:09Innervating.
34:10Nobody knows what they're doing until they've done it.
34:15But it works.
34:16We couldn't do it without you, Grumps.
34:18Yeah.
34:19I wonder how many light bulbs we'll be missing at the end of the day.
34:24Nope, nope, nope.
34:25Let's try it.
34:25Great, great.
34:26You don't need to clean those windows over there.
34:28Did you just tell us to clean the windows as you're eating your salad?
34:32Yeah, somebody needs to do it.
34:33Senior Grumpy Pants is over here having a nice Caesar while the rest of us are working.
34:39Oh, Dad, I need another peg.
34:42We've got a couple more hours of really, like, pushing to the finish line, but I think my work
34:46here is almost done.
34:48And I think that we're going to make Helms' birthday extra special this year.
34:52Cute or creepy?
34:53Creepy!
34:54Why is everybody hate clowns?
34:58All righty.
35:01Well, I think they're on the way.
35:04They should be here by now.
35:05Today's a big day.
35:07Well, it certainly is.
35:09We got it done, and we got it done in time for Helms' birthday.
35:12That's right.
35:13Hi.
35:14Hey.
35:15Oh.
35:15They have to be nervous right now because they don't know whether their expectations will
35:20be met or if they will be overachieved.
35:24We'll find that out here shortly.
35:26Welcome back.
35:27Thank you so much for getting it done in time.
35:31Yeah, I'm excited for you guys to see.
35:33Absolutely.
35:34You guys want to do it?
35:35Have a look.
35:36You're going to see?
35:37Let's go.
35:37All right.
35:38Let's do it.
35:39Let's go.
35:41Come on in.
35:43Wow.
35:45Wow.
35:46I love the blue.
35:48Oh, my gosh.
35:50Wow.
35:51It looks so different, but it's beautiful.
35:54I love how you used a lot of art, but the stuff you found fits so perfectly with our style.
36:02Oh, that's good to hear.
36:04I used some of your stuff in the bookshelf, too.
36:06Oh, my gosh.
36:06That's the storage we definitely needed.
36:09Yeah.
36:09And Chelsea did such a good job.
36:11I know.
36:12I mean, they're just so fun.
36:13The scallops are so pretty.
36:15Yeah, the waved edges really add whimsy to it.
36:17Visual interests, yeah.
36:19It's amazing to see the transformation.
36:22The coffee table is perfect for a four-year-old, too.
36:25Exactly.
36:26It's soft.
36:27He's not going to bump into it.
36:28He is going to jump from couch to coffee table to couch.
36:32Exactly.

37:18Oh, my gosh.
37:18It looks so good.
37:20Yeah, it's a good touch.

37:28It's transformed.
37:28It's a totally different bag.

37:35I love it.
37:35Well, we started with the wallpaper first.
37:38Okay.
37:38So, it was sort of our guidebook.
37:40Yeah.
37:41But the black cabinets tied the rest of the house together really well, I think.

38:10It matches the cabinets perfectly.

38:53Yeah, it flows so well, and it feels so different and beautiful.
38:58And I can't believe we get to see more.

39:29Yeah.
39:29It really, like, calmed me down as soon as I walked in here.
39:32The bed looks so comfy.
39:34Oh, my gosh.
39:35Can you reuse the lamps from the guest room?
39:37You found them in your guest room?
