00:10informational. The more you know on NBC. Hi, I'm Chanel Jones. Come along as we discover
00:17how baby animals keep their cool in the summer sun. This is Wild Child. Coming up, join these
00:25forest babies as they show us their spots. And it might be hot outside, but cuddling up is
00:32still a priority for these fur babies. Plus, a little slippery rough and tumble is all part
00:39of growing up. And this amazing sideways trek to the sea. All this and much more just ahead
00:47on Wild Child.
00:55You might think summer is the best time in the animal kingdom. For one thing, food is
01:15usually plentiful. But depending on the climate, hotter temperatures can really make for an
01:20endless summer and put animal families at risk. But thankfully, nature's creatures have devised
01:25clever ways of beating the heat. Check it out.
01:32Of the four seasons, summer is the hottest experience in the world's temperate zones.
01:38The days feel longer because they are longer. That's because the arrival of the summer solstice
01:49the day midway through the season when the hemisphere experiencing summer is facing straight at the sun.

03:21An older fawn's ears aren't immune either to a little mother's love.
03:27No matter how much it fidgets, this doe is determined to finish the job.
03:33A few final licks and done.
