00:00UPCOR President Datuk Ewan-Benedik on Monday said he had tendered his resignation as Entrepreneur
00:08Development and Cooperatives Minister.
00:11He said he had started clearing his remaining leave and added that he would chair a special
00:16party Supreme Council meeting on Monday to discuss the Sabah First Agenda, which has
00:21been the basis of the party's struggle.
00:27This comes after Ewan said recently that he would quit the federal government if Putrajaya
00:32decides to appeal the October 17 Kota Kinabalu High Court ruling affirming Sabah's right to
00:3840 percent of net revenue derived from the state.
00:42He said the position expressed by the Attorney General's chambers in the written judgment
00:46by the court regarding the judicial review filed by the Sabah Law Society on the issue disregards
00:53the historical foundation of the formation of the Federation of Malaysia.
00:58He said the AGC should not file an appeal, but instead commenced negotiations with the
01:04Sabah government to implement the 40 percent entitlement.
01:07Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Ewan had acted too early in announcing his resignation.
01:13Anwar said the government had not decided whether or not to appeal the court ruling, adding
01:18that the Cabinet will meet on Tuesday to discuss the matter.
