00:00Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewan Benedict said he will
00:07tender his letter of resignation from the Cabinet over the Malaysia Agreement, 1963 issue.
00:25Benedict, who is also UPCOR President, said the position and views expressed by the Attorney
00:30General's chambers in the written judgment by the Kota Kinabalu High Court regarding the judicial
00:35review filed by the Saba Law Society on Saba's rights to 40% of its net revenue. He said the
00:42position of the AGC, which is the legal advisor of the government, disregards the historical
00:48foundation of the formation of the Federation of Malaysia, including the terms and conditions upon
00:54which Saba agreed to form Malaysia, as recorded in the constitutional documents. He said that
00:59he cannot agree with the AGC's position, and it will be inappropriate for him to continue serving
01:05in the Cabinet when the AGC maintains such a position. He said the AGC should not file an
01:11appeal, but instead commence negotiations with the Saba government to implement the 40%
01:17entitlement. He said he wished to see Saba's rights fully implemented, and he cannot support
01:23any decision that contradicts the October 17th High Court's decision. He said his decision
01:28to quit is in line with the principles stated in UPCOR's constitution to pursue the implementation
01:34of the Malaysia Agreement, 1963, and defend the constitutional rights of Saba.
