00:00Yeah, that's definitely like my biggest issue with the whole like porn is degrading to women because you never hear the narrative like porn is degrading to men, right? It's always women because we're the victims. We're like the weaker sex. We don't actually like sex. We're not exhibitionists really. We're just like pushed into it by perverted men because we have like no agency over our bodies and we can't make decisions on our own.
00:24Yeah, and it's so sad that it's still such a strong, strong opinion.
00:30Yeah, but I think women like you and coming out and talking about this kind of thing, I think is starting to change people's opinion, you know, I hope so.
00:39But it's important that you that you do say these things and you do like really emphasize like this is me. This is what I want to do because yeah, it's it's yeah, I that's exactly what I thought probably happened.
00:54And I like I even my my poor mother. I had some like we've always been really close, but we never had, you know, conversations about we weren't the kind of mother and daughter that talked about like sex.
01:06And that sort of side of our lives. So, so I was forced to have like the the most like I laid it all out for her my my poor mortified mother, but it was so healthy because after that she was like, I get it like I understand and we've had some some really interesting conversations and some really healthy and progressive conversations in the last couple years since then.
01:32And I'm actually really proud of my mom for like some of the I think she's come a long way like in her interviews and her understanding and like her acceptance of a lot of a lot of stuff that, you know, a few years ago or more.
01:46We never would have had those conversations and she may not have had those those thoughts. So, yeah, would you say that she's proud of you now?
01:53She has said it cautiously.
01:59There's always like a with a but she's like, I'm she's proud that like, you know, about me, you know, being like positive and, you know, doing something different or, you know, not the norm.
02:11She's like, you know, it always has to be like, it's not something I would do, but this is making you happy and that you're doing this.
02:17Yeah. But yeah, it's always with the kind of the cautious like, you know, I'd be proud if it was something else.
02:24No, I get that. I get that. So do you think that you would ever go back to a more traditional career path or do you think this is like your future?
02:31I think I will. I don't think I'm out of the nursing game for life.
02:36What made you decide to leave? Was it just like this was becoming like there was just more and more opportunity in this field and you thought, yeah, I really want to follow this.
02:43I want to them both and I balanced it pretty well for a while, but things were getting more and more successful in the adult industry for me financially.
02:53I don't like to make it a financial thing, but like, I mean, I was I was working this shift work and these 12 hour shifts and saying no to opportunities that would have like made me a lot more.
03:06A lot more money. Yeah, it's OK. We all know nurses don't make that much.
03:08So, yeah, so it was a lot of things. It was it was getting a little bit tough to balance.
03:14There was in the beginning of 2024, there was a lot of opportunities that that came forward that I didn't want to feel held back.
03:23So I said, you know what, I'm taking a year off from nursing.
03:26I'm just going to say, you know, yes to all of the things that come my way, see where we can take this career, this lifestyle and then reassess in 2025.
03:38I don't think I will ever go back to full time shift work again ever in my life, but I will go back to health care in some way.
03:47Do you think that you'll have difficulty reentering the health care career market or do you think that it'll be it'll be easy to get hired back?
03:54Oh, yeah. I don't think I'll have difficulty getting back into it.
03:58They're so desperate for nurses.
04:00Nobody's going to say no.
04:02I mean, that's great to hear because I maybe it's a Canadian thing because I know in America it's like it's been a problem for people.
04:09Yeah.
04:10So there was I don't know if you've ever heard listen to the podcast, the butterfly effect by John Ronson.
04:17It's actually it's I wouldn't even call it a podcast.
04:19It's a long special couple hours.
04:24I think maybe it is a podcast.
04:26I don't know.
04:26Anyways, and it's it's actually about Pornhub specifically and all of these like little things that kind of spiraled off from things on Pornhub and an adult in general.
04:39And there was one male performer who was in porn, did it for a while and then got into nursing and then got fired from his job because somebody recognized him as a performer like at the hospital.
04:54And they yeah.
04:56And I think that their excuse was something like we can't be liable if somebody decides to like accuse you of like sexual assault or something, which is like crazy.
05:07Right.
05:07Because it's that assumption that if you work in the adult industry, you must be like a sexual deviant in some way.
05:13And like you would sexually like like it's just crazy.
05:18Right.
05:19So when I hear stories like that, it's like infuriating.
05:22So I love hearing that, you know, you've had a much different experience.
05:27Yeah, I think I've my I've been very lucky in all of the aspects of my of my career path so far.
05:34I know it's not everybody's story, but I've been very fortunate.
05:38Yeah.
05:39Maybe Canadians are just better than Americans.
05:42Maybe that's that's that's what it is.
05:44Better country.
05:45One thing I do consider is is maybe not necessarily going back into emergency, but I'm always interested in how I can kind of combine the two branches of my life, like sexual health.
05:57I have just in the past year, I've been volunteering at a sexual health clinic in my city.
06:03They're fantastic people.
06:05So once a week I go in and I just do like it's not in a clinical role because I have a license there.
06:09I'm a volunteer, but just to be there and help them because they're such a good they do a lot of like free services for new Canadians and a lot of sexual health teaching.
06:19And so I'm just kind of get staying involved in that space.
06:23And, you know, the wheels are turning.
06:25Maybe there's something.
06:26Yeah.
06:26No, that totally makes sense.
06:28I mean, yeah, people definitely need their sexual health taken care of, especially people who work in the industry.
06:34Yeah, there's a lot of conversation around that.
