00:00I think the crucial thing here is that the BBC in its last year has received, I think, about £3.8 billion from the licence fee.
00:07Now, the contract is, they get the money from the licence fee, but they uphold the charter.
00:12And that charter requires the BBC to have impartial broadcasting absolutely at the heart.
00:18That's what we look to them for. They are the UK's national public broadcaster.
00:22So it's incredibly worrying what we've heard, like the Trump video and so on, artificially changing it.
00:27You know, in an era of fake news, when you have AI and chatbots and all the rest of it,
00:32people want to trust some sources for the information they get,
00:35and they want to trust the BBC because of the licence fee and the charter it sits on as a public broadcaster.
00:41So they do have serious questions to answer.
00:43And I hope what we see this week is not just some limp words, frankly, from its leadership.
00:49We want to see a strong plan to deal with the issue and restore integrity to the BBC.
