14:53It's just like over the top, awkward, making everybody uncomfortable, bringing down the vibe of the group.
15:05I think Yvonne's attitude in that 9am group that day just got underneath Daniela's skin.
15:11Yvonne feels the chill and gets the message loud and clear, the 9amers want nothing to do with her.
15:19I think Yvonne's feelings were hurt.
15:21After she was rejected from the 9am group, maybe this just isn't the place for her.
15:26So after joining our community in May of 2019 and being very consistent, like every single day, Yvonne just very abruptly froze her membership.
15:39She did not give a reason.
15:43You know, I didn't think anything of it. I was like, oh, alright, she's got something going on. You know, it is what it is.
15:48Sensing tension in the ranks, the coaches decide it's time to blow off some steam.
15:54This was very close to the time. There was this negative group of people that were causing a problem and I wanted to soften that a little bit, uplift people.
16:03Whoever wants to come, let's have a good time.
16:05Something that was meant to be a fun night with friends brought out a nightmare.
16:12I don't think anybody could have ever predicted what was about to happen that night.
16:17This weekend, we planned to go see a movie at Silver Spot Cinemas in Coconut Creek.
16:37After the movie, a handful of us decided to walk across the street, hang out.
16:44So it was a pretty large group that showed up. I was excited to see everyone.
16:50Daniella was super excited about going out that night.
16:55Everybody was there.
16:57We were just laughing with everybody. We were having fun.
17:01Everybody is welcome. Like, you know, we all just want to have a good time.
17:06And then I noticed Yvonne.
17:12I was like, you know, uh, cool. I'm so glad that she came.
17:18Um, you know, she's, her account is frozen right now, but she's still part of the familia.
17:22I think that this night meant a lot to Yvonne.
17:26This is a chance to really let her hair down and show them who she was.
17:30So she picked out the perfect outfit.
17:33She wore a lace tank top.
17:35She got her best Louis Vuitton purse.
17:37And hey, it would be nice to be featured on the gym Instagram.
17:40But 9am versus 5am, it's not just a gym thing.
17:46Daniella and I are just trying to find our places, not knowing where we're going.
17:51And there is this woman, Yvonne, just staring at me.
17:55And I had to ask, I said, do I know you?
17:59At that point, she goes, yeah, I go to the gym.
18:02And I was like, oh, wow. Like, I couldn't recall at that moment.
18:06And she said, but I do know you. I know what time you work out.
18:11I know what time you run.
18:12I have seen you running outside many times.
18:15I know you go to 9am.
18:16And at that point, I was like, wow, I guess you do know me.
18:19I was totally oblivious about who she was.
18:23Daniella was right there with me.
18:24And we looked at each other quickly, like, what the hell is this?
18:29And then we walked away from her.
18:32And she said, that's the lady that is always in the 5am class.
18:36I didn't know who she was, honestly.
18:39The slight from the younger woman stings.
18:42But instead of taking a hint, Yvonne doubles down on desperation and liquor.
18:54Yvonne seemed like she was trying to fit in with the people that were there that night.
18:58She was trying to hang out with everybody.
19:00We were outside, and she came to sit down.
19:02She started raining a little bit.
19:04Carolina's a little prima donna.
19:07If her hair gets wet, the night's ruined, okay?
19:09So she starts running inside.
19:11Everybody follows her, okay?
19:13Yvonne's still outside.
19:14She's like, okay, well, everyone's going inside now, so I'm going to go inside.
19:17She would follow them in, people would come out.
19:19It was just a constant back and forth where it looked like people were running away from her.
19:24Daniela comes to me at one point and says, hey, there is that Yvonne asking me to sit outside with her.
19:31And she says, like, I don't know how to tell her that we don't want to sit out there.
19:35So I, like, you want me to tell her?
19:37And she goes, yeah.
19:38So I went outside, and sure thing, she was sitting on a table by herself, and she goes, I told you, I got a table for us, and you leave me there alone, and you never came back.
19:50Something along those lines.
19:51And I said, I told you, it's going to rain, and we didn't want to sit out there with you.
19:56And I walked away.
19:58You could tell Yvonne was starting to get irritated.
20:02I basically stopped her, talked to her a little bit.
20:05Don't worry about it.
20:07It's raining, blah, blah, blah, here and there.
20:10But the 9 a.m. diss hits hard, so Yvonne decides it's time to show everyone she's still got it.
20:19Yvonne is talking to every single person that's coming in.
20:23She turns to this rowdy bunch of regulars, young men, they're in their 20s, and she starts joking with them, she's buying drinks.
20:33I see Yvonne, like, grabbing this young guy, and they are talking.
20:37I can tell that Daniella is uncomfortable.
20:40One of these young guys starts hitting on Daniella with full force.
20:45Daniella is not into it.
20:52This is not her scene.
20:53She does not want to be picked up.
20:56Daniella's friends are noticing that this guy is very focused on Daniella, and it's not just making Daniella uncomfortable.
21:04It's starting to make her friends uncomfortable and feel a bit protective towards her.
21:12Daniella said, I'm not going anywhere with anybody.
21:16So I'm looking at Daniella, and I asked, are you okay?
21:21And she just rolled her eyes without saying a thing, and she turned her back and started facing that way.
21:27Like, she already gave me the answer.
21:28Like, I'm not approving this.
21:30I don't want to be here.
21:31That was Daniella.
21:32She could talk to you just rolling her eyes, and you knew she was disappointed.
21:36For Yvonne, there's only one solution to a party that's rapidly going south.
21:44More drinks.
21:46You could tell that she was trying to keep the party going because she kept ordering drinks
21:51and shots and just handing them off to everybody.
21:56I felt a little uneasy leaving Daniella that night because she was so innocent.
22:05I was concerned about people around her and all that.
22:08When I was leaving, Daniella was sitting there still in one of the bar stools, and I looked at her.
22:14She gave me the look, like, I'm okay.
22:18I gave her the look, okay.
22:19And I walked away, but I left.
22:23It's really weird, the way that night worked out.
22:27So I left around midnight.
22:29I kind of gave it like a, hey, see you later, guys.
22:36The next morning, I get a text saying, we don't know where Daniella is.
22:43And I'm like, oh, my God, what the hell is going on?
22:48I remember, like, I'm freaking out.
22:53Just an absolute nightmare.
23:04I woke up to a call from Daniella's mom, Isa.
23:08I knew something was wrong.
23:13She had asked me if Daniella had just accidentally slept over my house, and we just forgot to tell her.
23:22I told her no.
23:24The last time I had heard from her was the night before with her gym friends.
23:30I became super scared when I found out that Daniella had not gotten home.
23:36The last text message that I got sent to me was at 1.30am, at 1.28am, more or less,
23:48telling me that she had already come to the house.
23:52I woke up again, I stayed asleep, but I woke up at 2.30am.
23:58Desperate to locate her daughter, Daniella's mother next calls Carolina.
24:11When she said that Daniella didn't make it home, I knew it was something just really bad had happened.
24:17And immediately, the only thing I could think of was that kid that Yvonne was talking to that night,
24:24because it was the only person that was an outsider, and he did something.
24:28He followed Daniella, he took her, he kidnapped her.
24:32I started making phone calls to every person that I could.
24:36Nobody knew anything.
24:39Meanwhile, Fernanda suddenly remembers that she can track Daniella's location through her phone.
24:47Daniella and I shared locations just kind of to keep an eye on each other.
24:52Daniella's location had pinged in Coral Springs.
24:57About 15 minutes away, the ride seemed like an eternity.
25:03As I pulled up to the pinged location,
25:08it was a parking lot close to the Training for Warriors gym.
25:15My immediate thought was she was okay.
25:18But the parking lot is completely empty, and there is no sign of Daniella.
25:24So I got out the car, and I started looking around the bushes,
25:28I started looking around the trees that were in the area,
25:32thinking, okay, maybe she dropped her phone.
25:36But I didn't find anything with Daniella or anything of any of her belongings.
25:46I refreshed the app, and it re-pinged at a different location not too far away.
25:52I felt better.
25:54It meant that her phone was moving, so I believed that she was moving with her phone.
26:01So Fernanda now is driving around and looking for Daniella,
26:06and she finds an address that Fernanda is not familiar with.
26:11By now, a local resident has called the Coral Springs 911 dispatch.
26:17911, what is emergency?
26:29I just walked up and there's a car on my driveway with a dead body.
26:35With what?
26:37A dead body?
26:38A dead body?
26:40Yes.
26:41Our 911 caller said that she woke up this morning, walked out,
26:59and saw the body of an unidentified female lying on the driveway.
27:05One of her legs was still inside the vehicle.
27:08There were no other injuries other than a single gunshot wound.
27:12There was a lot of blood surrounding her body.
27:14There was a lot of blood on her clothing and actually streaming down the driveway.
27:19And I observed that she had been there for quite some time.
27:24We did run the license plate on that vehicle
27:27and saw that it was registered to a Daniella Tabaris Maya.
27:32When I pulled up to the neighborhood, I had seen that there was a lot of cops
27:37and the streets were blocked off by the police tape.
27:47I had seen a car in the driveway, but I was okay because her car was a black Versa.
27:54And I had gotten to talk to one of the police officers there.
28:01I told him that I was looking for my friend, that I had her location,
28:07and that the location had taken me to that neighborhood.
28:11Can you help me?
28:13The officer gave me a really strange energy.
28:20And he told me, okay, let's go to my car and speak a little bit more.
28:26We got into the car and he locked the doors and immediately started blasting cold air,
28:35which I found extremely strange.
28:39The detective then, he took a second and he was the one to break the news to me
28:52that they were investigating the death of Daniella.
28:56And when I turned to look at the driveway, it really hit me that it was Daniella.
29:12Because in that moment, I had remembered that she had just gotten a brand new car.
29:19And that was her car.
29:23I had no idea whose house this was.
29:26I had no idea why Daniella's car was in the driveway.
29:32I didn't know what was going on.
29:38I did a cursory check of the vehicle and observed that there was no gun anywhere near the vehicle.
29:45So my first thought was that we had a homicide.
29:49It looked to us like she was shot in the car and then somebody opened the door.
29:53And then someone had attempted to pull the victim's body out of the vehicle.
30:03Within the gym, word spread.
30:05Everybody knew kind of what was going on.
30:08I remember when I got the phone call and he said that body was Daniella.
30:14My head was spinning.
30:16I don't know what happened after that.
30:18Who did this to her?
30:20Was she attacked?
30:21Like, you know, what happened?
30:24Then I got a call from a friend.
30:32And then that's when the show started.
30:35He's freaking out.
30:36And I tell him, like, listen, send me your pin wherever you're at.
30:42I finally get there.
30:46The street was blocked off.
30:48The body bag on the driveway.
30:51I knew what house that was.
30:53I was at Yvonne's house.
30:57Looking down the street, there were probably at least five cop cars, crime scene unit.
31:14I was just shocked.
31:16Right then, I got a pit in my stomach because I knew Danny gave Yvonne a ride home.
31:21I kind of figured what happened.
31:26You put two and two together, you watch enough crime dramas.
31:32My niece gave out.
31:34I just lost it.
31:39The police started asking Yvonne some questions.
31:43So Yvonne told the officer that she went out the night before.
31:47She was hanging out with a group from Training for Warrior's Gym.
31:52She had a few drinks that night.
31:54She blacked out, and she didn't remember how she got home.
31:57She just woke up in her bed, was about to go to the gym,
32:01and that, you know, she saw a dead body in her driveway.
32:04When asked if she knew who the person was,
32:06she said that she did not know who it was.
32:12We observed that there was a ring camera.
32:14So, naturally, we wanted to find out if any of the footage on that camera
32:19could help us to solve this murder.
32:22Yvonne stated that she deleted all the footage.
32:28Well, what do you mean you deleted it?
32:29You have a dead body in your driveway,
32:31and you're deleting your footage?
32:33At that point, we decided it was time to escort Yvonne
32:38back to the Coral Springs Police Department.
32:40So, when Yvonne first gets to the police station,
32:50she stuck with her initial story.
32:53She woke up in her bed.
32:55She was on her way to the gym.
32:56She didn't know who Daniela was.
32:58I do not deny the fact that the car is in my driveway.
33:02OK, so...
33:03I'm not trying to say, you know,
33:05I'm not trying to hide anything.
33:07I'm honestly, honest about it.
33:08I'm telling you, I don't.
33:10You don't remember coming home or how you got home?
33:11I don't remember how I got home.
33:13She looked right into my eyes the entire time.
33:15Nothing seemed to faze Yvonne.
33:17But it wasn't long before her story drastically changed.
33:23I want to say I was still drunk.
33:25And I want to say, honest to goodness,
33:29I woke up in the car, sitting on the passenger seat.
33:33And I was sitting there.
33:35And, you know, I don't...
33:40I didn't know how I got there, but I saw the door open.
33:45And you can see at least some legs.
33:48Yeah.
33:49That's a new memory that you have.
33:51Yes, yes.
33:52During the interrogation,
33:54there were detectives over at World of Beer
33:56that were continuously sending video and pictures.
33:59On the video, I could see that Yvonne and Daniela
34:02were communicating with each other.
34:05And then the officers confronted Yvonne
34:08with the videos of her and Daniela at the World of Beer.
34:13Do you know who that is?
34:16Right there.
34:17You think that might be Daniela?
34:18Uh-huh.
34:19OK.
34:20I think.
34:21All of a sudden, she now knows who Daniela is.
34:25While Yvonne's story keeps changing,
34:28the physical evidence doesn't lie.
34:31As Detective Young and I continued to interrogate Yvonne,
34:35a Sig 365 was located in a purse in Yvonne's bedroom.
34:40The gun had blood spatter on it.
34:43It was found in a rocking chair next to her bed,
34:47underneath a pillow.
34:49They searched the victim's car,
34:52and they found a shell casing to a 365.
35:01They discovered that the white tank top that she had had
35:05was hanging in her laundry room,
35:07and it was freshly washed.
35:09It was damp,
35:10and it had the victim's blood on it.
35:12Yet, when pressed to explain what really happened that night,
35:16and why, Yvonne sticks to her story.
35:20I will repeat myself.
35:24I don't remember.
35:25We don't believe that.
35:26I don't remember getting out of world years.
35:30I don't remember getting in her car.
35:32I don't remember getting into the house.
35:35She had the presence of mind to delete her ring footage,
35:39to wash her tank top,
35:41to hide the gun.
35:42I never did believe her that she didn't remember anything.
35:45We were not sure if maybe this was just a tragic accident.
35:49So at that point in time, our goal was motive.
35:52Why?
35:53Why did you, why did you shoot Daniella?
35:55What happened in that, in that car?
36:00Investigators speak with witnesses
36:02and review surveillance footage from the bar.
36:06A story of a bruised ego soon emerges.
36:12At some point, a gentleman comes over to Daniella.
36:16He likes her, and he wants to get her number,
36:19but Daniella kind of brushes him off.
36:24But Yvonne was very handsy with him.
36:28Yvonne was trying to convince him to go home with her.
36:32He wanted no part of that.
36:33There was a huge age difference
36:35between the gentleman at the bar from Yvonne,
36:38about 25 years.
36:41So his response to Yvonne's offer
36:44was that you could be my mom.
36:52When she was passed over by this young man for Daniella,
36:56Yvonne was seething with jealousy.
36:59The drinking unleashed a monstrous rage in her.
37:05Despite Yvonne's irritating behavior
37:08throughout the night,
37:09Daniella is concerned about her.
37:11Seeing she is drunk and alone,
37:14Daniella wants to make sure she gets home safely
37:17and offers her a ride.
37:19This act of kindness turns out to be a grave mistake.
37:23There was a lot of video footage
37:26that was recovered from the world of beer.
37:28You can see that Daniella
37:31is giving everyone a hug goodbye.
37:34Yvonne points a gun motion
37:37and pulls the trigger
37:39at the same time as Daniella
37:43is walking towards her.
37:45And then they leave the bar.
37:46I think it's foreshadowing
37:50because Yvonne was carrying that night a 365.
37:54It was in her purse.
37:56Around 2 a.m. that morning,
37:59a nearby security camera
38:01captures Daniella's vehicle
38:02entering Yvonne's neighborhood.
38:08When Daniella pulls into the driveway,
38:10she has no idea of the danger she's in.
38:15Yvonne Serrano would have had
38:17to have gotten out of the passenger side
38:19of the vehicle,
38:21then gone directly behind her
38:23and opened that door
38:24to the rear passenger seat.
38:27And after firing that shot,
38:50she tried to clean up the scene
38:52and move the victim out of the vehicle
38:54because she did have something to drink.
38:56she wasn't able to do it.
38:59It wasn't until later she called 911.
39:04After the interview,
39:06Yvonne was charged with second-degree murder.
39:11And then it was like,
39:12oh my God, Yvonne's been arrested.
39:14How could this have happened?
39:17What do you mean she did it?
39:18Well, this has to be an explanation
39:20why she did it.
39:22I think that Yvonne was very insecure.
39:25I think that she saw Daniella as a threat.
39:29Daniella was prettier and younger,
39:32stronger.
39:34I believe that
39:36she wanted to be what Daniella was.
39:39You never think that someone that evil
39:42can be right there next to you
39:44and with your group.
39:46She's evil.
39:47No question whatsoever.
39:52On June 18, 2024,
39:53Yvonne was convicted of secondary murder
39:57and tampering with physical evidence
39:59and sentenced to life in prison.
40:05Although Daniella's mother
40:06takes a small measure of comfort
40:08that Yvonne will never get out of prison,
40:12Iza Tavares mourns the loss
40:14of her only child
40:15and a life that could have been.
40:18So, Daniella has been living in my heart
40:22forever,
40:23forever.
40:26Daniella will always live in the hearts
40:28of many people.
40:29She will always be remembered
40:31by the good girl she was.
40:33that way.
40:36Daniella gave love
40:39to every person she met.
40:41She touched everybody's life
40:44in different ways.
40:47Even if we can't see her,
40:49we can feel her.
40:50I feel her presence everywhere.
40:53I painted a wolf-sized mural of her
40:57and dedicated the PR bell to her.
41:00She was the biggest part
41:02of the community
41:03when she was alive
41:04and she's going to continue
41:05to be the biggest part
41:06of our community.
41:10On the next Mean Girl Murders.
41:12For most of us here in Alaska,
41:14having someone to help us escape
41:16was a big thing.
41:19You're not supposed to
41:20break these girl code rules.
41:22If you got on her bad side,
41:24she made sure that you knew it.
41:25Don't be fooled by their age.
41:27They knew exactly what they were doing.
41:28They knew exactly what they were doing.
