05:10I was invited to be on the Eyewitness Morning News to discuss the Make It Right Foundation
05:16and the charity event we were going to be doing at the House of Blues.
05:19The Make It Right Foundation is a foundation that Brad Pitt started and it is to help the
05:24people who were hit the hardest by Hurricane Katrina, which is the Lower Ninth Ward in New
05:28Orleans.
05:29If you have not heard of the girls next door, you would live in a cave somewhere.
05:31I'm so excited to be here this year.
05:33I noticed you got some big beads.

16:13She used to live in New Orleans and she was there visiting with her friends from Mardi Gras
16:17and all of a sudden she was there
16:20Mardi Gras at night was amazing the people were awesome there was like
16:30excitement in the air. I'm ready to throw some beads Mardi Gras is bead heaven and
16:41it was so fun to be up on the balconies throwing the beads at people and it was
16:47a really great experience to interact with all the people like that I want to
16:57ruin these I couldn't stay in bed for the nighttime you know and all the fun no
17:04way I had to get my ass out of bed and go and partay
17:17we were both happy that Kendra could finally join us at night up on the
17:30balcony to party and throw some beans the crowd went crazy when they saw three of
17:36us throwing these we created the biggest crowd in front of us it was unbelievable

17:51the way they closed down Mardi Gras is insane at 12 o'clock at night a whole
18:04parade of police cars policemen on foot policemen on force come through and just
18:11clear out the streets and then the big trucks that wash down the street come
18:16through it is really a sight I was really impressed with how fast the sanitation
18:21people come in and clean up the streets and it was overwhelming smell of lemon it
18:25was really cool hi Puffin hi sweet baby we're all here we saw Bourbon Street get shut down at the
18:37end of Mardi Gras hi honey is this Kendra it's Bridget your voice is so hoarse you sound like Kendra I
18:47have no voice left all right okay here's Kendra did you give away a lot of beads oh we gave
18:57away so like thousands and thousands and millions I love you give the puppies a kiss for me I love you

19:11before we left New Orleans we met with some representatives from the make it
19:30right foundation nice to meet you thank you for what you're doing for make it
19:34right we appreciate it they took us on a tour of the areas that were devastated
19:38the worst by Hurricane Katrina this area took the brunt of the levee breaks this is Tennessee Street
19:55this was a street with a lot of life a lot of people as we go further north the damage gets much
20:03more severe every structure in the Lower Ninth Ward flooded and what you see rehabilitated is done
20:13mostly by the will and commitment and huge financial sacrifice of the people who lived here you know
20:20it's really amazing how committed people are to to these neighborhoods within the Lower Ninth Ward we
20:27were seeing just whole blocks that had nothing but grass and flat concrete foundations where they
20:33used to be houses sometimes you'd see some twisted metal that used to be a railing and it was just
20:39amazing how little there was I was really shocked about how long it's been and these houses aren't rebuilt
20:49yet here you can see the X's and at the top of the X is the date it was inspected the bottom of the X is the number
20:59of people who they found perished inside the spray paint on the houses was really kind of sickening you'd
21:06see mostly zeros thank God but every once in a while you see a two or a four or a one and that was just kind
21:12of like all I'm being honest right now that shit like this shit really like hurt me you know I have
21:28a friend who stayed during the flood and to hear her talk about the succession of people walking out of
21:36the Lower Ninth Ward it's horrifying what people had to go through after meeting Pam and talking
21:42to her it just sets home how important it is to help these people and to try and bring those
21:47people back home I just feel like they've been forgotten since the levee breaks it was a lot lost
21:57during that time that did not need to be lost on the news like you know you only see like little
22:04clips of what Hurricane Katrina really did but no like when you walk those streets that's when you
22:09really see it and feel it seeing the devastation in New Orleans was worse than anything I thought
22:18it could be and it makes me feel really grateful for what I have because it could be gone in an instant
