It's the event that signals the start of the festive season. More than three hundred and thirty thousand people lined the streets of Adelaide's CBD this morning for the much-loved annual Christmas Pageant. Celebrating it's 93rd anniversary, families came from far and wide to celebrate and share the Christmas spirit.

00:01The Adelaide CBD buzzing with excitement as hundreds of thousands of people await the arrival of Father Christmas.

00:16Families coming from far and wide to soak up the atmosphere at the 93rd Christmas pageant,
00:23which organisers say is the largest public parade in the southern hemisphere.
00:28We normally do the Wyala one and we decided to do this one this year.
00:35Many camped out for hours to secure front row seats.
00:39My family's been out here since four to get a good spot.
00:43Mummy got here at four o'clock this morning.
00:46Some turning it into a fun-filled family event.
00:50My sisters come in late at night on Friday night and they come in and book all our spots.
00:55As you can see we go from there right through about there and there's probably 30, 40 of us.

01:06I'm most looking forward to seeing my mum because she's in the pageant this year.

01:14This year four new floats added to the line-up including Magic Fairyland and My Pet Dragon.
01:21Special guest, former wiggle Emma Memma also making her Christmas pageant debut.
01:2785 floats and more than 300 elves and clowns led the way for Father Christmas along the route from South Terrace to right here at Beehive Corner.
01:37While there are still 47 sleeps until Christmas, the countdown has well and truly begun in South Australia.
