00:00He is a traitor.
00:03Perhaps in this moment, when I tried to raise the idea that Joe was a traitor,
00:07I came very close to being banished myself.
00:20You have chosen yourself in your game. Why?
00:25I am...
00:27...and have always been...
00:39...a traitor.
00:48I'm so sorry.
00:51He's been tearing me apart. I'm so sorry.
00:53I'm so sorry.
00:55Oh, my God.
00:56He did brilliantly up.
00:57He did good for him.
00:58He did good for him.
00:59He did good for him.
01:00He did good for him.
01:01He did good for him.
01:02He did good for him.
01:03He did good for him.
01:04He did good for him.
01:08He did good for him.
01:09He did good for him.
01:11He did good for him.
01:12He did good for him.
01:19Hello and welcome to the Celebrity Traitor's Uncloaked grand finale.
01:22I'm Ed Gamble and we're going to be unpacking everything from that jaw-dropping last episode
01:26with all our finalists.
01:28We're here at the BBC Radio Theatre with a studio audience full of our all-star cast
01:32of celebrity, faithful and traitors.
01:33And how amazing do they all look?
01:35You look incredible.
01:40Coming up, Claudia Winkleman is here to finally discuss the show she usually has to avoid
01:44talking about.
01:45Kat, Jo, David and Nick will be on this stage to decompress from that unbelievably stressful
01:50final day.
01:51And our winner, Alan, will be joining us to tell us what it takes to go all the way.
01:55Get yourself comfy because this is the Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked finale.
02:02What a final episode.
02:04I mean, I was so stressed that I am, well, let's just say Celia would have been proud.
02:09We're going to be speaking to the finalists shortly, but first off, I'm joined by the
02:13fingerless glove-wearing legend that is Claudia Winkleman.
02:19Claudia.
02:20Welcome.
02:22Welcome back to Uncloaked.
02:23You've just seen that very, very tense finale.
02:26How did you feel watching it back?
02:28Quite emotional.
02:29Can I just show everybody my T-shirt?
02:31Absolutely.
02:31There he is.
02:37Because even though, obviously, I was there, yes, just watching it back because I don't
02:42watch the other ones back.
02:43So, yeah, it was a lot.
02:44And it's just amazing that our caster hit.
02:46The atmosphere in this room was electric.
02:49Yeah.
02:50I mean, I'm not a football fan, but I'd imagine this is what it feels like to watch England
02:53score a big goal.
02:54You see?
02:55It was amazing.
02:56Yeah.
02:56Yeah.
02:57What was it like at the time, though?
02:58Obviously, watching it back is a different experience.
03:00What was it like when you were in the room for that endgame?
03:02Well, unbelievable.
03:04I mean, my knees were knocking because I'm incredibly nervous.
03:07And it is, without sounding like a total tool, it is an absolute privilege to always
03:13be in those, at those roundtables.
03:16But yeah, the endgame was quite something.
03:19And when the third green pouch went in and I realized what was happening.
03:23People have seen this now.
03:24I'd imagine there's already videos going up online of pubs, people watching it, and
03:28pints just flying in the air.
03:30It was because you feel, I feel so protective of them all.
03:34You feel for them individually.
03:35I love Nick because all he could just say was, Joe.
03:40And Joe was utterly brilliant.
03:42You know, that moment he went, I've worked out who they are.
03:45It was like a pull focus.
03:46I was like, watch him go.
03:49And then Kat, who was extraordinary throughout, was so brilliant in the turret and the fact
03:54they caught, you know, the whole thing is sort of highly emotional.
03:58You gave a speech to them quite early on in the game about how people lie to them all
04:02of the time because they're celebrities.
04:04I love that speech.
04:05Do you think that sort of thing makes the game harder for celebrities?
04:09I don't know that it makes it harder for them.
04:12But I thought there were two things.
04:14One, the traitors were utterly brilliant.
04:17Yeah.
04:17And two, so there was only so much they could do.
04:22But it is a hard game.
04:24You know, the absolute star of this whole thing is the game is addictive.
04:29It takes over.
04:30It's hard for anyone.
04:30But what I also love is because people watch at home sometimes and sometimes people will
04:35say to me, how do they not know?
04:37You don't know.
04:38It's very easy when you're watching at home.
04:41But when you're sitting there, it is almost impossible.
04:44Now, I know you're very fond of everyone who played the game.
04:47But I know you had a particular fondness for one player.
04:49I'm talking about the national treasure that is Celia in Britain.
04:52Oh, my gosh.
04:53What is it in particular that draws you to Celia?
04:56She is so twinkly.
04:58I've never met anybody that twinkly.
05:01I've always loved Celia.
05:02So when they said, Celia's taking part, I was like, are you joking?
05:06The actual?
05:07Or like a tribute?
05:09No, the actual.
05:11And I'm not allowed.
05:12I have to be like Cruella de Vil, which I find difficult because I just wanted to go,
05:15oh, I love your song and you're brilliant.
05:18And so I'm not allowed.
05:19I'm just like strict and fluorescent orange.
05:22And there was one point when I'm standing next to Celia and just out the corner of my mouth,
05:25I thought the producers weren't here.
05:26So I just went, obsessed.
05:30And she was like, thank you.
05:32Celia, it's wonderful to hear, you know, how much Claudia loves you.
05:37But we want to know, have you got any better at snooping?
05:39No, not really.
05:41Really not.
05:43I'm just, the thing is that you said you were obsessed after I'd admitted I was two-faced.
05:49That's why we were all obsessed by you.
05:51Because Celia, well, my other favourite thing that Celia did is she would say,
05:55you are dazzling, and then write their name on the board.
05:58It was so compelling.
06:00Someone else who didn't make the final, Nico, unfortunately, you went out quite early.
06:04But how was it watching that back?
06:06Do you think there was some good gameplay in there?
06:08Yeah, I mean, Joe, I was very impressed with.
06:12I just can't believe it was bottled at the end, in the final moment.
06:16But yeah, it's a very tough game.
06:17I do feel, in a way, like I made it to the final, because I have the same name as Nick.
06:24You were there?
06:25Yeah, so, yeah, almost won.
06:29Now, we're going to be hearing from our finalists and our winner quite soon.
06:33But first, Claudia, you are the hostess with the mostess.
06:36And thank you so much for entertaining us week after week.
06:38And I know you hate this bit.
06:39I hate it.
06:39I know you hate the compliments.
06:40Well, you're going to hate this bit even more.
06:42Because let's have a look at your best bits.
06:46Tiny word of warning, don't relax too much.
06:48Tomorrow, the killing spree begins.
06:51This isn't personal, but it is tradition.
06:56I know you're thinking it, so I'm going to say it.
06:59They've just dug their own graves.
07:01Nothing like the sound of screaming celebrities.
07:03The Stephen Price in the water, they go.
07:07Faithful, you are breaking my heart.
07:10You are famous.
07:12People lie to you all the time.
07:15I love that show.
07:17It's a great jacket.
07:19I listened to that particular podcast twice.
07:24What just happened?
07:26I just felt it, Claudia.
07:28But I always own up.
07:30I know.
07:30I always own up, too.
07:32Well done.
07:34We'll get you out with the others shortly.
07:38No immediate rush.
07:39Come to me!
07:41Come on!
07:41Come on!
07:43Come on!
07:43Come on!
07:44Queen!
07:48He did it!
07:50That was better than my wedding day.
07:53Thank you, Claudia.
08:06Iconic as ever.
08:06Thank you, Claudia.
08:07We'll be talking to our winner, Alan, soon.
08:09But with me now, I'm thrilled to welcome our four runners-up, Kat, Joe, David and Neil!
08:13Thank you!
08:20Well, we're very excited to have you with us here for this very special finale.
08:24Kat, let's talk about that final roundtable, because going into it, you and Alan were very confident.
08:29I mean, erring on cocky, would you say?
08:32You're sort of very sure that Joe was on your side.
08:34Yeah, we were.
08:35Do you know, I was hoodwinked by Joe.
08:37I did think that you were going to be the deciding vote, because I was like, I knew Nick was going to vote for me, and then I knew realistically David would vote for me too.
08:49So then I was like, it's going to be Joe.
08:51And I did think that you were going to go for David, and then it was when the conversation on the roundtable, it was varied, but then towards the end of the conversation, I was like, I feel like Joe's going to vote for me.
09:04And you couldn't look me in the eye.
09:05So that's when I was like, yeah, my time's done.
09:08I had a good run.
09:09And then I got dashed.
09:11But even when we were in Scotland speaking, I think you were still under the impression that Joe changed his mind last minute.
09:16How does it feel watching it back and knowing that that was pretty much Joe's plan all along?
09:20I think it's just fabulous television.
09:22I just think it's so funny that me and Alan are like, yeah, yeah, we've got this, we've got this.
09:26And Joe's like, I know it's them two, and I'm going to get it.
09:29I just think it's great telly.
09:31At what point did you start to suspect Kat?
09:34Because I think from our perspective as a viewer, you were sort of, you know, sniffing around some traitors.
09:38But then in that episode eight, you were like, it's Alan and Kat, and just blew everyone away.
09:42Yeah, I think I worked it out on day one that it was Jonathan, Kat and Alan.
09:49But I was having so much fun in there.
09:51Yeah.
09:52No, the shield cock-ups from Jonathan and Alan, they were the sort of giveaways for me that I was like, hmm, I like shields.
10:02You don't seem to like them as much as me.
10:05Now, Nick, you were suspicious of Kat from, I think, episode five.
10:08Yeah.
10:08But you decided to keep that to yourself.
10:11Yeah.
10:11Which is a very clever plan.
10:12But how do you feel about how the plan played out in the end?
10:15Oh, I think I thought I was being clever, and then it all just backfired a little bit.
10:20I think as soon as you, there was one roundtable where you voted for David that felt, just didn't ring true for some reason.
10:26And I thought, and at first I thought it was you and Lucy, I remember thinking it was you, Lucy and Jonathan.
10:31Yeah.
10:31And I thought you and Lucy were in cahoots.
10:34But that was wrong.
10:35I mean, I was wrong pretty much every single step of the way in every episode, I think.
10:39I don't think that's true at all.
10:40I think there were people that were more wrong than you.
10:42Okay.
10:42And I'm naming no names.
10:44David, next question for you.
10:51What do you think it was about Kat's game that meant that so few people suspected her right up until the end?
10:57Well, I think a number of people did suspect Kat, but we did this thing where we would suspect somebody, have a conversation with one other person, and then totally forget that at the roundtable.
11:08We just kept doing the same thing.
11:11And we had, you know, I think we had a conversation, I think episode five, about Kat, and then we both voted for somebody else at the roundtable.
11:17So there was not much.
11:19I think you voted for me.
11:20Yeah, I think I was, yeah.
11:21That's what I meant by somebody else.
11:25Kat, the night you go into the turret to meet your fellow traitors and you see it's Alan and Jonathan, how confident are you at that point that you can move through the game as a group of traitors?
11:36I just found it so funny when it was Alan.
11:38I couldn't hold it in.
11:39And I think I was really confident because I just thought it was quite a rogue trio.
11:46Like, I really didn't expect it to be me.
11:48And then when Claudia tapped me, I was like, oh, my God, what the heck?
11:52So when I saw it was Alan, I was like, when I saw it was Alan and Jonathan, I was like, I feel like we can get pretty far because Jonathan's a great talker, as we could see.
12:00He got through so many roundtables and then Alan, all he had to do was go, and everyone just went, oh, it's not him.
12:08So it was a fabulous trio.
12:11Well, yeah, one of the big dogs is out the kennel.
12:13Jonathan is with us here.
12:15You seem very pleased that Kat and Alan were your comrades, Jonathan.
12:17Do you think it's the difference in personalities that made you confident about the group?
12:21I think I was just, I mean, I was just happy to see someone else up there with me.
12:25I mean, but I mean, I know Kat a little bit and I knew how calm she is.
12:29I know how she presents as being very calm.
12:32So I thought that would be useful.
12:33And when Alan came in, I just think, you know, he's so much fun to spend time in.
12:37I mean, looking back now, Alan played a far more kind of tactical game than I thought he was at the time.
12:41He was far clever with it.
12:42And I knew you were very tactical as well.
12:44A lot of the time, I mean, a lot of the time we got there and I said, I think we should kill so-and-so.
12:48And they'd both talk me around and we wound up killing someone who I really thought we shouldn't kill.
12:53But they had a better grasp of the game, I think, really.
12:55Are you happy that it was a Tracers win in the end?
12:57Oh, yeah, that's all I really wanted.
12:59I mean, you know, and that's what I think is probably different about this version of the game to the regular version,
13:03is that it does become more like the two teams against each other.
13:06But I really wanted to see one of the, or ideally two of them get through to the end.
13:10And you did, of course.
13:11But having watched last week's episode, there's no way I thought either of you were going to survive.
13:15And for that, I think we do need to thank Nick.
13:19You're very welcome.
13:22Thank him, shall we?
13:25I cannot believe.
13:30We'll get to it, Joe.
13:31Don't worry, we'll get to it.
13:33You will have your chance to have a say.
13:35The Humdy P collapse.
13:36It's amazing being in the room with your stare.
13:41It really is unsettling, Joe.
13:42My stare?
13:43Your stare, yeah.
13:44Oh, yeah, the stare?
13:44Yeah, the stare.
13:45What is the stare?
13:46It's your face.
13:49How did it feel watching the final back?
13:52Yeah, it was fine.
13:54There's no issues whatsoever.
13:57Me and Nick are right.
13:58Me and David are right.
14:00Just struggle to make eye contact with them from now on.
14:03I mean, I was sitting in the row in front of you watching that.
14:06And when you saw you get banished, you did shout scumbags at them.
14:11Did I?
14:13No, I didn't mean that.
14:14I didn't mean that.
14:15I was...
14:15I just couldn't work out.
14:18I still...
14:18I don't think until we spoke...
14:20I said, what was it?
14:21And it was because I was, like you just said, being polite.
14:26And saying...
14:27I wasn't saying sorry to Kat because I was Judas in a...
14:30Like you did me.
14:31I was so convinced.
14:32I was saying sorry to Kat because I really liked her
14:36and enjoyed my time together.
14:38I was like, sorry, mate.
14:39You know, thinking.
14:40What happened?
14:41When Joe and I text each other after we got out of the castle,
14:44he continually refers to me as Judas.
14:47And then occasionally replaces the you with a heart,
14:51which is quite nice.
14:54You're arguably, Joe, the most accurate traitor hunter
14:56because you got Kat and Alan correct.
14:59I mean, you're more on a traitor safari.
15:01You didn't actually hunt all of the traitors.
15:05And, of course, you were the leader of the big dog theory.
15:08I mean, how did you do it?
15:09Because you seem to have all these brilliant theories,
15:11but you couldn't quite convince everyone of them.
15:14Well, yeah.
15:17They were sort of stolen theories, majority.
15:19I was like, oh, that sounds good.
15:21Yeah, we'll go with that one and then amalgamate one.
15:23And then trying to convince the rest of the players
15:28to get round it was a lot harder than I thought.
15:32Kate, why do you think people latched on to the big dog theory
15:35and not other theories?
15:36For example, the sun-dried tomato theory.
15:39I can't imagine.
15:41I'm genuinely flabbergasted.
15:43There you go.
15:48I mean, the sun-dried tomato theory,
15:50it's very, very common in criminal law,
15:52the sun-dried tomato theory.
15:54So, yeah, it's weird, isn't it?
15:56David, I want to ask you about that final round table
15:59because, obviously, it came to two apiece for you and Kat.
16:02You'd obviously had a lot of suspicion on you throughout the game,
16:05including that incredibly tense round table with Mark.
16:08Yeah, I remember.
16:09Did you think that this was it for you?
16:12Did you think your luck had finally run out?
16:15I was mainly thinking that this was our kind of last chance
16:17to try to get a traitor.
16:19I wasn't really thinking about me getting voted out.
16:21And I had come round to that point by talking to Nick in particular,
16:25thinking it was Kat.
16:27So I was mainly focused on can we get a traitor?
16:30Joe's grand plan went up in flames, sadly.
16:34How did you feel in that moment when David and Nick voted for you?
16:37Because you seem genuinely surprised.
16:39I think you've been amazing throughout the game
16:41of putting on a face
16:42and really, really sort of psyching people out a little bit
16:45and maintaining this character.
16:47And you're doing it to me now, and I know what you're doing, Joe.
16:50But in that moment, you seemed to drop everything
16:52and you were genuinely surprised.
16:54I was, it was a combination of, like, gutted.
16:58I was like, oh, no, I really, like,
17:01this has backfired massively.
17:02What have I got wrong?
17:04And then I just want, I was desperate to get out
17:06and go, right, where's Kat?
17:07I need, like, to see you.
17:09I knew you were a traitor, but I was like,
17:11I just need to see you.
17:11I'm sorry I voted you, even though it was a traitor.
17:14It was, yeah, it was a surprise,
17:15but there's no hard feelings at all,
17:17because ultimately it was just a really, really big, fun game.
17:21You'd said you had some suspicions over Alan.
17:23I did.
17:24And then you didn't vote for him.
17:26You didn't vote to carry on the game.
17:27I didn't vote for Alan once in the whole show, I think.
17:31But going into that end game, you were like,
17:33I've got some suspicion.
17:34And the way the game works,
17:36if no one's saying whether they're traitor or faithful,
17:38the safe thing to do would be to carry the game on.
17:41Yeah.
17:41But you didn't do that.
17:42Can you talk us through the thought process?
17:45I just don't know what I was thinking.
17:47I feel like Alan's just very,
17:52Alan is incredibly persuasive,
17:54because he's so relaxed and he's so Alan
17:56and he's so,
17:57he was just so convincing throughout the whole game.
18:00And I just, I was like, you know what?
18:01I think, I think we've got it.
18:03I think we've now just got that final traitor,
18:05which I believed to be Joe at that point.
18:07How did it feel watching the final back?
18:09It was, I mean, I was sat behind you,
18:11so I was just an absolute wreck.
18:15It's so great.
18:16It's such great telly.
18:17Can I, big shout out,
18:18I don't know the name of who composes the score,
18:20but the score is absolutely phenomenal.
18:24Because it is, it is so,
18:28it feels like you're watching a Marvel movie or something.
18:30It is just cliffhanger, suspense, release, suspension, tense.
18:34It is, it's, all the emotions.
18:37And that last, yeah, that last 15, 20 minutes,
18:39I was just clinging onto Joe and shouting cat.
18:43It was brilliant, Nick.
18:44Me and Nick bumped into each other in town the other day
18:46and he dragged me down a dark alley.
18:49It was very traitors-esque.
18:51Dragged me down a dark alley and went,
18:52everyone's going to hate me.
18:54But we don't hate him, do we, at all?
18:56No.
18:58That wasn't everyone.
18:59Okay.
19:01About 30%.
19:02And then came the time to reveal your identities.
19:07But before we discuss that with our winner, Alan,
19:09I have my own reveal to do.
19:11I've been teasing on Uncloaked
19:12about my secret cameo in the main show
19:14and I've been telling you at home
19:15to watch out for my Easter egg.
19:17Did you spot me?
19:18Well, I can now exclusively reveal where I was hiding.
19:25For me, the only time I saw you ever intimidated in the game, Joe,
19:28do you remember the mission in the cabin?
19:32Hmm.
19:32So as you approach, there's druids lining the path.
19:36Yes.
19:37And then there's one druid in the middle.
19:39They swing your door open and pull you out of the car.
19:42Pulled me out of the car.
19:42You seemed very scared by that guy.
19:44My adrenaline did spike.
19:46Yeah.
19:46And I was like, I'm going for this one.
19:48From what I could tell, the druid wasn't scared of you at all.
19:51And he did really, really well.
19:53He did do really well.
19:54Yeah.
19:54Even though he's not normally a druid.
19:56What's that fact?
19:57What?
19:57Would you like to tell me...
20:00Yes.
20:00Who was that druid?
20:02Me.
20:02I was the druid.
20:02You were that druid?
20:03I was that druid, yeah.
20:04Are you taking the pick?
20:07I was the druid.
20:09I was ready to fill you in.
20:12Because you kept going, you kept going,
20:14oh, you're just going to touch me, are you?
20:18This is so good.
20:26Yes, I wasn't the drummer from episode eight.
20:29I was, in fact, a druid.
20:32Nick, you were the other person I dragged from the Land Rover there.
20:35Yeah.
20:36Do you want to...
20:36I mean, we did tell you, we did film a reveal.
20:38Do you want to tell everyone what happened
20:40when I revealed to you that I was the druid?
20:42Well, from memory, I mean, I knew that it was you
20:44right from the start, because I could see your eyes.
20:47And Ed and I were at uni together.
20:50I was slightly after him.
20:51And so I've known Ed for ages.
20:52I was like, well, that's Ed.
20:56I was gutted when you told me.
20:57I was so excited to reveal it to you.
20:59And there was a real, actually, sense of...
21:01I was like, oh, one of my friends is here.
21:03It was really nice.
21:05But, yeah, I mean, I knew it was you instantly.
21:08Well, now's the time you've all been waiting for.
21:10After sweating and worrying he'd be worse than Linda
21:13to cold-bloodedly killing his friends,
21:15our winner, Alan, is about to join me.
21:17But first, here's the moment he spoke to me in the castle
21:19just after he pulled the charity prize money
21:21from underneath Nick and David's noses.
21:30Hello, how are you?
21:31Oh, the winner.
21:32The winner.
21:35Oh.
21:37Welcome to Uncloaked, Alan.
21:39Oh, thanks for having me, Ed.
21:41Congratulations, the winner.
21:43I know, still hasn't sunk in.
21:44It's insane, isn't it?
21:45It is insane.
21:46When Claudia initially selected you as a traitor,
21:49did you ever, in your wildest dreams,
21:51see yourself at that endgame
21:52and winning the whole of the show?
21:54No, no, no, no, no.
21:56I did not even think I would get this far.
21:59My agent, this is a little exclusive,
22:01had actually booked in things for the second week.
22:04Because he said, Alan,
22:06then he said, your poker face, you'll be out.
22:09Two days in.
22:10And I actually believed him.
22:11And that's even before you knew
22:13whether you were a traitor or a faithful.
22:14You just assumed, whichever you were,
22:16you were going to go out early.
22:17Yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:18I mean, I'm like that.
22:18When I go through customs, I start sweating.
22:21You know, when I go into a newsagent,
22:22it says, no shoplifting.
22:24I'm like, oh, like that.
22:25You know, it's just, I just feel I'm guilty.
22:27And I've got the worst poker face going.
22:30I mean, it's like a tug of war with my face.
22:34That endgame as well felt like the first time
22:37that we saw Sirius, Alan, in the game.
22:39Yeah, yeah.
22:40Was that a challenge?
22:41Did you suddenly feel different at that endgame?
22:43I did feel different.
22:45And it's that weird irony,
22:47the more missions you do,
22:49the more you spend time with people.
22:51You are like a family and that's cheesy and bleh,
22:54but it is true.
22:56Of course, when you see the money behind,
22:59I mean, £87,500 for a charity,
23:03that's when, yeah, come on, Alan, stop giggling.
23:06Celia said something lovely to me before I murdered her.
23:09She said, she said, Alan, you're surprising.
23:14You surprised me the way you ran across that bridge.
23:16And I thought, well, that's the best you can do
23:20is surprise yourself.
23:22So, yeah.
23:23Alan, are you proud of how well you played the game?
23:25So proud.
23:26Really, really proud.
23:28I found out about myself.
23:30I can be a chameleon.
23:32I can chat to people.
23:34I can lie.
23:35I can, when the pressure's on, I can do it.
23:38When Stephen Fry talks or David talks,
23:41I go quiet.
23:42I'm not worthy.
23:43I'm not intelligent.
23:44But maybe sometimes you do need to question,
23:47stand up for yourself and go,
23:48actually, I think this.
23:51Yeah.
23:51So, yeah, yeah.
23:52I think, well, I think you winning
23:54has absolutely proved that.
23:55Yeah, idiots can do well.
24:04The winner of the first UK celebrity trade-offs
24:07is Alan Carr!
24:08There it is.
24:22Alan, congratulations again.
24:24What a huge triumph.
24:25Is it fair to say that no one's more shocked than you
24:27that you mentioned to call yourself?
24:28I am so shocked.
24:29It is true what I said.
24:30I had to ring up the woman who was dog-sitting my dogs
24:33because I thought I'd be back after two days.
24:35I said, you've got them for another week.
24:37And it just kept getting more and more and more.
24:39I'm completely surprised.
24:41I don't know how this happened.
24:43I really don't.
24:44Look, and when we were watching it back,
24:46you got a big standing ovation right at the end there.
24:49Oh, I know, I know.
24:50It's so amazing.
24:51I feel, I do feel bad for doing it.
24:53But, I mean, what can you do?
24:55It's, you know, I mean, I felt bad.
24:57So you played the game and you were incredible at it.
24:59Oh, I know, I know, I know.
25:01How did it feel watching the end game back?
25:04Oh, God, so emotional.
25:05I mean, me crying as well.
25:07I mean, because I couldn't remember how,
25:09because Joe was on to us,
25:12and I couldn't remember how you got thrown out,
25:14but then I lied and said you'd told us all to vote for David.
25:17And I'd forgotten I'd lied.
25:19What have I become?
25:22You did quite a lot of lying, actually, Helen.
25:24I did loads of lying, and I started loving it.
25:26I just hope there's not, like, a murder in my street.
25:29You know what I mean?
25:29I opened the door.
25:30Hello, officer.
25:34I didn't see anything.
25:37Yeah, I mean, it just comes really naturally to me.
25:40I mean, yeah.
25:42Can we talk about your journey
25:44from sweaty Alan to serial killer Alan?
25:46Yes, please.
25:47What was the moment that you dried out
25:49and thought, I can do this?
25:51Well, it was...
25:53When I...
25:54When I killed Paloma...
25:57Ooh!
25:58Oh, give me a break.
26:01Because the thing is, when I killed Paloma, yeah,
26:04I felt sick inside.
26:06And you've got to remember,
26:07it was such a cruel twist to touch someone's face.
26:11Now, you're the only one...
26:12Maybe...
26:12And Jonathan was a traitor.
26:13I couldn't...
26:14I mean, if I touched any of these other faces,
26:16I'd be sent to HR.
26:19You know, old roof, hello.
26:21You know, I can't.
26:23So I...
26:24And then when she came down for breakfast the next day,
26:26I went, oh, because I felt so sick.
26:28I thought, oh, good.
26:29She hasn't been murdered.
26:30I was so pleased.
26:31Lovely.
26:32And then we go outside.
26:33You're dressed as Queen Victoria.
26:35We then go to a funeral.
26:37I then see one of my best friends put in a coffin
26:40and sent off.
26:41I went, this is not going well.
26:43This is not what I wanted, you know.
26:46But then I got a taste for it.
26:47I couldn't stop.
26:48And then after I killed Paloma,
26:50then I got all the gays getting...
26:52Because when we killed Tom Daly...
26:53Oh, great, Alan, killing off all the eye candy.
26:57I'm like, hello.
26:59And then...
27:02And then I saw him in the shower soaping himself up
27:07and I was like, ah, I killed too soon.
27:11Maybe one more week.
27:13Maybe one more week.
27:17But then you don't.
27:20I think it's better.
27:21There are a few moments throughout your time on the show
27:24where we might have thought as viewers,
27:25I'm not sure if Alan can pull this off.
27:27One of them was certainly when you had to say,
27:29I am a faithful to everyone.
27:30Oh, my God.
27:31And laughed halfway through.
27:33How do you adjust your game plan after things like that?
27:35And do you adjust your game plan?
27:37Well, I thought I was finished then.
27:40I thought I was finished when I went,
27:41I'm a faithful.
27:43I thought, oh, that's it.
27:44And then Joe was on to me.
27:47And, yeah, I just sort of gave up, really.
27:49But that's one thing I found out about myself.
27:53I am, like, a bit of a pushover.
27:55But when Joe is on to me,
27:58I'm like one of those cats you get in Greece.
28:01You know, those ones that are like,
28:02you go, oh, hello.
28:03You know, you go, oh, hello.
28:07You look quite cat...
28:08Claudia, did you ever doubt Alan's ability to pull this off?
28:14Yeah.
28:16No, I can say, I hope you don't mind this,
28:20but Alan started as Linda and ended as Harry.
28:23He had a extraordinary...
28:25Because at the beginning, when you came up to me,
28:28I can't do it.
28:29And he was like, I'm sweating.
28:31I can't keep a straight face.
28:34But he was absolutely...
28:36A, you're utterly brilliant,
28:38incredibly clever and totally consistent.
28:40So Alan was Alan.
28:42And if you didn't suspect him from day one, it's Alan.
28:45He can't say I'm a faithful.
28:46He's forgotten he's had a shield.
28:48My favourite Alan moment, almost,
28:50was you talking to Celia.
28:52And Celia said, can I trust you?
28:54And you went, you can trust me.
28:56And you had snakes all over your top.
28:58And I was like, yeah.
29:00It's right there, guys.
29:02But it's interesting.
29:03I thought I'm quite happy at the beginning to be a faithful.
29:06And then, of course, when you're sitting there
29:08and you've got the blindfold on and you pick,
29:10I mean, I don't know what shoes you're wearing,
29:12but you sounded like a shire horse.
29:16I get a bit flamingo.
29:18And then when you went round and didn't touch me,
29:21there was a little bit like,
29:22oh, OK, I'm going to be a faithful.
29:24That's fine.
29:25So I realised deep inside, I probably did want to be a traitor.
29:28And then, of course, you come round again.
29:29And then when you squeezed my shoulder, I was like, oh, my God.
29:32But you were so sweet.
29:33Because those chats where I have with everyone,
29:34they're much longer than you see.
29:36And as I said, there are some people who are just,
29:38don't even, Mark, like, I only want to be a faithful.
29:41And many others.
29:44And then you going, did you really say that?
29:47I was like, that was literally word for word is what he said.
29:50And you said, yeah, I want to be a traitor.
29:52And then burst out laughing.
29:53And we were like, oh, yeah, fun.
29:55I think if I did have a strategy, I think it was,
29:59look at me now, now I've won.
30:00I've got a strategy.
30:03I think what I did was I picked one.
30:06I mean, if I was pushed to do a strategy,
30:07like with Claire, I wouldn't let her go about the lever.
30:12And then with Mark, you know, when you get all braveheart,
30:15I want to win, like that.
30:17I said, why are you being all like this?
30:20And then poor old Kate, I was making out,
30:22she was Goldie Hawn, this dizzy blonde.
30:25I just kept saying to people, why?
30:28Why?
30:28You know, she's a broadcaster.
30:30She's live on the telly every morning.
30:33Why?
30:33That's what I was doing.
30:34I mean, have you seen that brilliant thing on social media?
30:37Kate Garraway repeats everything.
30:39Have you seen it?
30:40Someone's been recruited.
30:42Someone's been recruited.
30:45Sun-dried tomatoes.
30:46Sun-dried tomatoes!
30:49But I think if I had a strategy,
30:50I'd just picked one thing and really went,
30:53oh, I don't know about them.
30:54They give me the eebie-jeebies.
30:56I mean, I hate to bang on too much
30:59about the Trojan horse mission,
31:00but I do want to chat to you a little bit, Claire.
31:02Are you still kicking yourself for pulling the lever?
31:06Oh, God, yes.
31:06And will do for a very long time.
31:08It was awful.
31:09As Alice, my wife, said to me,
31:10for God's sake, there would have been no one left on stage.
31:1226?
31:13What were you thinking?
31:14I was like, well, I just thought,
31:16start high and come down,
31:17because we'll get more chances.
31:18They're working it out.
31:19Mark and Stephen are working it out.
31:21And I'll just start trying.
31:23And I was conscious of time.
31:25By the way, it makes total sense.
31:27It makes total sense.
31:29You're very sweet.
31:30No, but when you see those kinds of locks,
31:32you know, like a padlock,
31:33you have a couple of goes.
31:35That's what you did on the train, in fact.
31:37So it made total sense to me.
31:39No, I still feel really bad about it.
31:41And then I sort of shrank.
31:42But somebody talked to me the other day about it,
31:44and he's a legal advocate.
31:46And he said, although you made the mistake,
31:48at least you did put your hand up straight away
31:50and go, oh, my God, I am so sorry.
31:52And then Charlotte gave her shield up straight away,
31:54for which she didn't get enough credit.
31:55So I'm giving her credit now.
31:57And we carried on, and we still won the mission.
31:59So actually, it didn't cost us anything money-wise.
32:03I just looked a major tit.
32:04So I'm happy to take that for the team.
32:06I'll just take the idiot, you know, mantle.
32:09No one thinks that, Claire.
32:11Mark, I've just noticed you're wearing a T-shirt there.
32:13Will you tell us what the T-shirt says?
32:16It says, Jonathan fucking Ross.
32:22I would like to say I have given him one, too.
32:25All right, OK, good.
32:26As his early Christmas present.
32:27That's brilliant.
32:29We have to talk about that final mission,
32:31because that was amazing.
32:33It looked incredible, the explosion at the end.
32:36Kat, how much did you enjoy that final mission,
32:39your one last chance to get money for the pot?
32:40It was really fun.
32:42I mean, if I'm being honest,
32:44I really probably didn't do anything.
32:46It was mainly Joe.
32:47So, as I was to, like, grab something,
32:49then I saw the, like,
32:50having to take off the thing off the coffin,
32:52and I was like,
32:52mm, that's going to hurt my hands.
32:54That's why you went and did it.
32:56You just sort of did everything,
32:57and I was like,
32:58aw, yay, the boys are doing things.
33:03I think my favourite moment of that mission, though,
33:05was Nick dropping the lid on Joe's head.
33:08Oh.
33:09Repeatedly.
33:10And I just hope you're our friends now.
33:12It's a precursor of what was to come, really.
33:13I think...
33:14I should have known then.
33:16Three times, mate.
33:17Three times.
33:18It sounds really loud when you watch it back as well.
33:21Oh, it was loud.
33:22I mean, it literally is a wooden...
33:23It was a wooden lid dropping on his head repeatedly.
33:26Yeah.
33:26While we were basically watching the new Chuckle Brothers.
33:30Incredible.
33:31Alan, you forgot you had a shield,
33:33and obviously Joe picked up on this.
33:35Joe, why do you think no one else got on board with this?
33:38Because it seemed to be one of the clearest bits of evidence
33:40you had that Alan was a traitor.
33:42Again, a combination of not, like,
33:45really backing myself to convince everyone,
33:48but also I was madly in love with Alan as well.
33:51Like, even when I went after him
33:53and he came back at me like the Greek cat,
33:56I then was like,
33:58well, bless.
33:59I was like, okay, fair enough.
34:02So, yeah, I think there might have been something inside me
34:04that was like,
34:05I quite like Alan still being in the game.
34:08Because we were duped, weren't we?
34:09He was being really friendly to us, weren't we?
34:11And we were like, we couldn't believe our luck,
34:14because Joe was coming and sitting with us,
34:15going, you know, I think it's Nick and David.
34:17We thought we'd won.
34:18And we're like, yeah, Joe, yeah.
34:20Yeah.
34:21High-fiving and all that.
34:22That bit where you went, oh, bless him,
34:24as I walked off,
34:25and I've only just seen that.
34:26I went, oh, okay.
34:27I see.
34:28But then when you put cat on the sleigh,
34:30I couldn't, I mean,
34:31that was like a punch in the stomach.
34:34That was, I was like,
34:35don't leave me here,
34:36don't leave me here.
34:38Nick and David,
34:39obviously neither of you went for Alan in the end.
34:42What is it about Alan Carl
34:43that made you eventually decide he was a faithful?
34:46Alan could have come down to breakfast in a green cloak,
34:49and I still wouldn't have thought he was a traitor.
34:50I just thought someone who was a traitor
34:54would look a bit less guilty the whole time.
34:57And you just,
34:58Alan was being himself.
34:59And also, you know,
35:00it's the thing,
35:01you just made me laugh the whole time.
35:03I was too busy laughing to be suspicious.
35:06I think it's something that,
35:07I think,
35:07I think something that,
35:09I think something that Tom said actually,
35:11really, really early on,
35:12was that comedians,
35:16or some of the stand-ups could sort of slightly deflect by,
35:18I said that.
35:19Well, you said that.
35:20Sorry, Cary.
35:20I apologise.
35:21And it's so true,
35:23and actually,
35:24but Alan was just being Alan,
35:25and it's so hilarious,
35:26like, inherently hilarious,
35:27that it just completely throwed us off.
35:29Were you worried about the way Alan was acting, though, Kat?
35:32Because we saw loads of moments
35:34where you just had to tell him to be quiet.
35:36Yeah, but even at the last,
35:38even on the last episode,
35:39just going,
35:40please, don't, don't shout.
35:41I was,
35:42I was shocked when I was cutting up that lemon,
35:43and I watched it on the telly.
35:45What are we gonna do, Kat?
35:48I didn't think I was that loud.
35:49I feel like,
35:50like, after a few days in,
35:52or a few episodes in,
35:53I was kind of like,
35:55the best,
35:55like,
35:56that,
35:56exactly what I said to Nick,
35:58comedians,
35:58the best way to disarm people
35:59is make them laugh.
36:00So people would be suspicious of Alan,
36:02and then say something to him,
36:03and he'd just make them laugh,
36:04and then they'd go,
36:05oh, ha ha,
36:05never mind.
36:06So I was like,
36:07Alan's never gonna get caught,
36:08because no one could think that he could do it.
36:11I mean,
36:11even with Jonathan,
36:12I did it.
36:13Yeah.
36:14By the fire,
36:15I did it.
36:16Yeah.
36:19Jonathan said,
36:20I'm gonna have to have a word with him about that.
36:23Alan,
36:24that final,
36:25that final round table,
36:26when,
36:26when you saw that Joe had switched the vote
36:29that you thought he was gonna do,
36:30and he voted for Kat,
36:31what are you feeling in,
36:32in that moment?
36:34Oh,
36:35I mean,
36:35yeah,
36:36I,
36:36I was shocked.
36:37Like I said,
36:38I thought he was out,
36:39I thought we'd really got him.
36:41And then,
36:41yeah,
36:42and then I did,
36:42it was like a punch in the stomach.
36:44I felt physically sick.
36:46And then I felt so alone,
36:47because,
36:48you know,
36:48we were a great team together.
36:50So,
36:50yeah,
36:51yeah,
36:51it was,
36:52really,
36:52you did pull the rug for it.
36:54And he'd been so sweet,
36:55so lovely,
36:56and all that.
36:57But did you think you were,
36:58like,
36:59did you think Nick was then gonna vote,
37:00vote against you as well then?
37:02Or did you think?
37:03I didn't really,
37:05you know,
37:05I just didn't really think.
37:07I don't,
37:08I don't know.
37:10It was quite emotional for you at the end though.
37:13We saw you get quite.
37:13Oh God,
37:13I know.
37:14Well,
37:14all the lying and all that,
37:15it all just came bubbling up.
37:17And it was,
37:18yeah,
37:18and then I think,
37:19you know,
37:20about getting,
37:21but you know,
37:22the charity I picked,
37:24I mean,
37:24I'm not,
37:25but you know,
37:26listen,
37:26the charity I picked
37:27is a really great charity.
37:29And I know that that money
37:31is gonna do them
37:32so much good.
37:33So that was there,
37:35I was thinking about all the lovely people
37:37I'd murdered.
37:38I felt bad.
37:40And then it all came up.
37:41And then when I saw that green come up,
37:43I was like,
37:44oh my God,
37:44then I got the joke like that.
37:46And then I thought,
37:47oh God.
37:48And then,
37:49I mean,
37:49your reactions when it came out.
37:51Let's remind ourselves
37:52of that emotional moment.
37:54It's been tearing me apart.
37:58I'm so sorry.
38:01You did brilliantly.
38:02You did brilliant.
38:03You did brilliant.
38:05You did brilliant.
38:05It's a game.
38:06I did brilliantly.
38:07You did brilliant.
38:08It's a game.
38:11And what you didn't,
38:12what you didn't see,
38:14I turned into that Greek cat
38:15and bit him.
38:16LAUGHTER
38:16Alan,
38:19you said there
38:19it was tearing you apart.
38:21It was.
38:21Cat, can I ask you
38:22as someone who watched Alan
38:24write the murdered player's name
38:25every single night
38:26on the scroll,
38:27did you feel like
38:28it was tearing him apart?
38:30No, it,
38:30honestly,
38:31like walking around that castle
38:33seeing how stressed Alan was
38:34all the time,
38:35I was like,
38:36how does nobody see
38:37that it's this man?
38:38The only one that could
38:39kind of see was Claire.
38:40And I was like,
38:41if I was a faithful,
38:42I would have gone to Claire
38:42quite early on and gone,
38:43I think the same thing as you,
38:44but let's not say anything
38:46until a bit later.
38:47Let's round up some numbers.
38:48And I think that's why
38:49you ended up like going.
38:50But I,
38:51he was so nervous
38:53just throughout.
38:53So when,
38:54like,
38:54when I saw you cry,
38:55I just started crying
38:55because I was like,
38:56oh, Alan.
38:57I mean,
38:58I just wanted to climb
38:59inside that suit of armour
39:00that's in the hallway.
39:01Just close the thing down
39:03and just,
39:04do you know what I mean?
39:05Just leave me alone,
39:06everyone.
39:08What about you, David?
39:09In that moment
39:09that Alan got emotional
39:10and you'd run over
39:11to comfort him,
39:11how are you feeling?
39:12Well,
39:12it was such a genuine moment.
39:14It was just poured out
39:15of Alan
39:15and it was,
39:17it snapped us out
39:18of that thing.
39:18You know,
39:18this is a game.
39:19And the genuine nature
39:21of Alan's response
39:22just made us,
39:23you know,
39:23the obvious,
39:24the human thing to do
39:24was to,
39:25you know,
39:26give him a hug
39:26and say,
39:27it's a game
39:27and you won,
39:28you did brilliantly.
39:29Now, Alan,
39:30before we go,
39:30there's a bit of
39:31unfinished business
39:32to quote you.
39:33We've heard from Paloma
39:34on Uncloaked
39:35but we want to hear,
39:37how was it murdering
39:38your good friend?
39:40It was,
39:41I can't even do it.
39:44It was so awful.
39:45It was so awful.
39:47And it's weird
39:48because,
39:48you know,
39:49I love,
39:49I'm a fan of her music,
39:51I'm a fan of her for ages,
39:52you know,
39:53we are friends,
39:54we go on each other's podcast.
39:55So yeah,
39:56it absolutely really hurt.
39:58It really did.
39:59Now,
39:59with the nation watching,
40:00do you think it's time
40:01for an apology?
40:02I mean,
40:02Paloma sat right there.
40:04I am so sorry.
40:07You know I am
40:08and I want to tell everyone
40:09that I'm the father of a child.
40:16It was great.
40:17We had a make-up hug,
40:18one thing led to another.
40:21I have been known
40:22to turn people
40:23and it was an enjoyable experience
40:26for both of us,
40:27I hope.
40:27But I just also want to say
40:29that I think observing tonight
40:31and going through
40:32my whole plethora
40:33of hormonal emotions,
40:35I feel like
40:36that the reason
40:37why Alan won
40:38and the reason
40:39why I was so sad
40:40was because
40:41we all love him so much
40:43and I love you so much
40:46and I'm so happy
40:47that you won
40:48because it was
40:48bloody worth it then.
40:50Yeah.
40:50But I think that
40:51most people didn't vote for you
40:53because they're like,
40:54how can we vote someone
40:55that's so lovable?
40:56And it really concludes
40:58that thing
40:58that you won it,
41:00you hurt me
41:01and I loved you
41:02but...
41:03Only love can hurt
41:04like that though.
41:04Yeah, only love can hurt
41:05like this.
41:08And I just think
41:10he won it
41:12because everyone loves him
41:13and the nation loves him
41:15and I'm just really happy
41:16that he won.
41:18Sorry for rubbing it in
41:19by putting your head
41:20on the coffin by the way.
41:20It doesn't look anything like this.
41:22On reflection,
41:26how do you think
41:27the experience
41:27has changed you?
41:28Oh my God,
41:29I absolutely loved it.
41:32I absolutely loved it.
41:33We spent the whole time,
41:35didn't we,
41:35laughing
41:35and it was absolutely joyous
41:39and honestly,
41:40would I do it again?
41:42Of course I'd do it again.
41:43I think people would know
41:44if I turned up again.
41:45I don't think that act,
41:48oh hello,
41:49don't mind me,
41:49what am I like?
41:50I don't think it would work
41:51a second time.
41:53You would be out
41:54before the first round table.
41:55There's no way
41:56that's working again.
41:57I know,
41:57but it was wonderful.
41:58I loved it
41:59and the response
42:00has just been amazing.
42:01I'm cracking up
42:02at all the memes
42:02and it's just weird.
42:04I've never,
42:05of all the shows I've done,
42:06I've never had anything
42:07like this,
42:08you know,
42:08people going past
42:10on a bike,
42:10traitor!
42:11Who are you murdering now?
42:13I don't think so.
42:14It has been absolutely amazing.
42:16I recommend it,
42:17it's wonderful.
42:17Well, look,
42:18you've been incredible.

42:22Particular favourites,
42:23Kate Gone Away,
42:24I'm worse than Linda,
42:26you can't suspect someone
42:27just because they've got
42:27a better vocabulary than you.
42:29What's a knighthood
42:30when you're dead?
42:31Oh God.
42:35And of course,
42:36and this is my favourite,
42:37if Kate doesn't come down
42:38for breakfast,
42:39people would just think
42:39she's gone into a broom cupboard
42:40by mistake.
