00:00All right, joining me right now is AccuWeather, long-range expert, meteorologist Joe Lumber.
00:04The number one thing...
00:05I've been to Pensacola Beach. It's beautiful.
00:06Yeah, and I hear...
00:08They're going to be in parkas on Monday.
00:10They really are.
00:11And that was one of our main stories last week, is we were tracking a number of fronts,
00:18and you had this to say about the front that's coming through here this weekend.
00:24We do. In fact, the system that comes in, I think, Tuesday night and Wednesday,
00:27is going to be followed very closely by another one Wednesday night and Thursday.
00:30Could be quite a bit of wind and rain with that,
00:33and some of that's going to get all the way down to the Bay Area,
00:35certainly going to affect much of western Washington and western Oregon.
00:38Then that'll be spreading inland.
00:40Keep an eye on that particular feature,
00:42because that's the one that could cause problems late next week and next weekend with a series of fronts.
00:47Again, the southern-tier states are going to be bone dry for most of next week
00:50because the Gulf is simply going to be closed.
00:52But as that last front comes through late in the week, that's the one we're going to keep an eye on.
00:57Yeah, that's the one we have to keep an eye on, Joe.
01:00I mean, it's going to get nasty, nasty cold across the southern-tier of the United States early next week.
01:07Big drops in temperatures behind this front.
01:09I mean, St. Louis is going to go from near 70 degrees tomorrow to the low 40s on Sunday,
01:14and that's a preview of what's coming farther south and east as we go through the rest of the weekend and early next week.
01:19Three things to know about next week.
01:20You're going to have to deal with snow showers with this Arctic air from the Great Lakes to the Appalachians.
01:25It'll be cold in the east pretty much all week long, especially in the northeast,
01:30and keep an eye on a late-week storm in the west.
01:33Here's the big picture.
01:34Notice the big bulge in the jet stream over the Rockies and Plain State.
01:37You're going to see a warm-up pretty quickly in the western plains,
01:39but that warm air is going to have a hard time coming east.
01:42You're going to see some wet weather where that storm is coming into the west,
01:44and in the east, this dip in the jet stream will be persistent.
01:47The cold will retreat from the south and east,
01:49but in the northeast, it's going to stay pretty chilly all week long.
01:52And then, of course, Monday, with the coldest of the air coming into the pattern,
01:55you're going to see that cold air coming off the Great Lakes.
01:58You may start the day Monday with some snow showers in Chicago.
02:01You'll see flurries in Detroit.
02:02You'll probably have some accumulating snows in the high ground of West Virginia,
02:06western Pennsylvania, and off the lakes.
02:08It's just not going to feel like November.
02:10It's going to feel like the middle of winter in these places.
02:13Now, Joe, in the west, you and I have been looking at this all week,
02:16and it looks as though we could have some double trouble in California,
02:20all the way into southern California, late next week.
02:24Yeah, it's an upper-level feature that's going to be diving in
02:26and then kind of taking its time coming inland, but eventually it does,
02:29and it looks like it's later rather than sooner.
02:31But when it does, it's going to bring rain from much of California,
02:34including the L.A. Basin.
02:36This could be several weeks' worth of rain for some places,
02:39and, of course, some snow for the Sierra.
02:41All right, Joe, we are not far away from the Thanksgiving holiday.
02:45Of course, it's a big travel day.
02:47You and the Long Range team cooked up something for us
02:49to let people know at least some idea what to expect that week.
02:53I'm going to give you a sneak peek of something we're going to show you at 9.15.
02:56There's going to be a storm that comes through the northeast late next week and next weekend.
03:00What it does, well, I'm not going to worry about that so much,
03:03but it pulls the warm air eastward,
03:05and the period preceding Thanksgiving is going to be pretty mild.
03:07But then it looks like this area is probably going to have some rough weather to contend with
03:11as we head through Thanksgiving.
03:13AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lumberg, he'll be back with us at 9.15.
