00:00:45But unfortunately we have to start our latest podcast once again on a sombre note

00:00:50Ramsey member Harry Gillings passed away at the end of last month

00:00:53And although he hadn't played for the club since he was a junior

00:00:56I think it's fair to say he was one of the Balaclone outfit's biggest fans, Tom

00:01:00Yeah, absolutely

00:01:00And just the reaction since he's been passed shows how much he was loved up in Ramsey

00:01:07And I think we've spoken about it so many times

00:01:09About football clubs and the Isle of Man having people behind the scenes

00:01:12That are often more important than the people who pull on the shirt

00:01:15I think some players you see just come, turn up, pull a kit on

00:01:18And then leave

00:01:19Where someone like Harry was a prominent fixture down there

00:01:23He's always there

00:01:24He would do bits behind the scenes that perhaps people wouldn't know about

00:01:26And I don't think the club would be the same without him

00:01:30No

00:01:30I saw Hattie's pictures from the Hospital Cup final the other year

00:01:35And you could just see how made up he was

00:01:38And how much it made to him when they won that title

00:01:40So our thoughts as always are with everyone who knew Harry

00:01:44And everyone at Ramsey Football Club

00:01:46And how the club themselves are taking part in Movember

00:01:49And a tribute to Harry

00:01:50And it's amazing, they've already raised two grand

00:01:53So they're almost up to two grand from the last time I checked

00:01:55Just before we started here

00:01:56But I wouldn't be surprised if that figure keeps rising and rising

00:01:59And it shows a club like Ramsey have so much togetherness

00:02:03So much community

00:02:03And they're almost turning such a horrible thing into something so positive

00:02:06Raising money for a great cause

00:02:09And I know that Harry will be up there looking down, smiling won't he

00:02:11And seeing some horrendous taches around

00:02:14Some absolutely shocking

00:02:15Well, at the start of the week

00:02:17I was toying whether the podcast could go for Movember

00:02:20Now, it's obviously not an issue for me

00:02:26I've been growing a beard since I was, you know, before I was 14

00:42:36We had a close connection with Motherwell

00:42:39Probably back in the early 80s, mid 80s

00:42:43And if you look back at their kits

00:42:44This is a bit of a throwback to one we had off them

00:42:49So that's what we're going for really

00:42:52And it's a big year obviously

00:42:5375 years in the round of football club

00:42:54You've probably not quite been involved all them years now

00:42:56But I won't go to that spot

00:42:58But you've been involved all throughout the years

00:43:01Tell us a bit about how much this club means

00:43:03To the people of Moran

00:43:04And the lads out there with the kit on

00:43:06Yeah well I think everybody knows

00:43:07It's a bit of a community club

00:43:08For our family especially

00:43:10My grandad

00:43:12Percy Kelly was around in 1950

00:43:15When they first set the club up

00:43:19He was club president

00:43:22For a few years after Hayward Gellan

00:43:24So it's been good for me and Helen

00:43:28To follow in our grandad's footsteps

00:43:31My dad was on the committee

00:43:32And my mum was on the committee

00:43:34So a real community feel

00:43:35A real family feel for us

00:43:36And it's really nice for us to be involved

00:43:39Absolutely and Hel's

00:43:41Obviously the Mellius tonight

00:43:42That's a big one of course as always

00:43:44But just basically the same question

00:43:45How important is it for a club like Moran

00:43:47To keep going

00:43:4875 years is a long time isn't it?

00:43:50Yeah we want to do another 75 at least

00:43:54I mean we might be around

00:43:56But yeah in terms of our family as well

00:43:59I've played here, coached here, the secretary

00:44:04And just love everyone

00:44:06The lads are great

00:44:08Everyone puts in loads of effort

00:44:10It takes a lot of effort to keep the club going

00:44:11So it's a testament to the members in the committee

00:44:15That it's gone on for this long

00:44:17We're lucky enough to have some great facilities down here

00:44:20Which are provided by the Moran Memorial playing fields

00:44:24We have close connection with the other sports clubs here

00:44:27So the cricket club and the balls club

00:44:29And we hope to build on that going forward

00:44:32So yeah it's just great isn't it?

00:44:35What else has happened this year to celebrate 75 years of Moran Football Club Nev?

00:44:38So we're going to have a celebration of the Moran Football Club in April

00:44:44The hope is to get teams from the ages through

00:44:48We've already spoke to people from the 80s that are interested in going

00:44:52The 90s team and the early 2000s when we did relatively well

00:44:56We had some top players, we had Ireland internationals, we had players of the year, top scorers, that kind of thing

00:45:05We introduced our ladies team

00:45:07The ladies team

00:45:09So all these we're hoping to get, we're looking to get a special guest or two

00:45:13The date is the 18th of April

00:45:17So look out for that

00:46:06And we've got the home side, Governor sat there waiting, Moran sat there waiting

00:46:09And no one spoke to each other

00:46:11But we were already in our kit from the photo shoot we've just done

00:46:13These guys have a yellow kit

00:46:15And after like, after a good 10 minutes

00:46:17This fellow wanders over and explains that we've got a yellow kit

00:46:20And yeah, eventually they went and got their other kit, Governor, so thanks to that for them

00:46:23But it was one of them things that we need to kind of mention to other clubs now
