00:00oh okay so sir uh for the record let's meet you sir okay sir can you give us what actually
00:09transpired in the courts yes today we came to talk to come and hide the wrath of nigerian women
00:17the ground women should not be treated differently from other women around the world
00:21we have come before the court to seek a definitive enforcement of their legal and constitutional rights
00:30which nobody is arguing against because it is the law and we've only come before the court
00:38but by the attention of the court to those rights that have been established supported by international
00:46and we're able to explain to the court that the right
01:16have come to perpetuate and all right and i'm not recognized in law this is a right that
01:25nigerian law constitution clearly according to nigerian women and it has to do with life
01:34it has to do with safety it has to do with sanity and stability and we have a right to link
01:42the young women do have a right to be alike the law should not condemn them and kill them
01:53or which in the organization the law is there to protect them but we now need to crystallize those
02:02the essence of the laws the essence of the laws to ensure that these rights are
02:08others and pronouns upon us it's not in spree it's something that is certainly the law
02:13globally it's a matter of global phenomenon and nigeria should not be honest okay sir you you
02:19mentioned this right but to a layman we don't know the right you're talking about in layman time
02:25can you tell us your prayers before the dealership we cannot be telling the public the media what we
02:32are conversing before the course clearly but what we are asking the course to do
02:40you should take a look at rights given to nigerian women to determine what they do
02:45in terms of safe combination of pregnancies that are life better are you surprised they should not
03:00be condemned to that because it's not to bring life to life if in an attempt to bring life to life
03:11your life is better then maybe you want to try it back up and start the business again
03:17that's the right that's like other women all over the world and that's why we are saying
03:22should not be condemned to nigerian women there to cause the loss of process
03:29and there's much in my bully about it so that we don't clear religion with the law
03:33don't take sentiment to the reality of life over and above for that sentence
03:41it's a matter of law if you find anything right to life is
03:46it's sacrifice as we often argue in certain jurisprudence in environmental rights
03:53you're giving somebody the right to life you did not kill him or you're not killing her
03:59but you're causing the the room where it lives what will happen we will still die
04:03the same thing we are saying here that's the jurisprudence and that's what we are saying
04:08okay the law is also pro-life as pro-life but in such a way that a doctor must have
04:18a convincing overwhelming evidence that life is being threatened so what about the person
04:27who seems to be to be victim arguing that i have the right to do this without you taking me through
04:34a medical a rigorous medical examination doctors are not lawyers doctors are not robots what we are
04:44trying to do here is to give that legal tips to bite the doctors this is what the law asks you to do
04:53that's in the realm of criminality but even in the realm of criminal jurisprudence there are instances
05:10that in law families termination if life is present in this situation there are
05:19legal rules and laws under the number of criminal jurisprudence that this woman has the right to get
05:26to the court
05:29for instance that are not safe that is why we anchor this case on a safe termination
05:35safe termination otherwise the life of the woman is treated and both the woman and the baby will not
05:43survive it makes the logical sense that the law that gives right to the safe termination is
05:50perpetrated for doctors who now have because they are not used to this but there is a new development
05:56and that's why we are asking the court to command my lord this and this are the law is it what the
06:01law says yes before the law says yes is it what the law says if the law says it's not they have this right
06:07yes yes it's just to take the person and that just this is just the formality of what we eventually
06:13happen because that's the law
06:16sir are you surprised that our respondents are not in court today because the respondents are part of
06:22us they know what they are seeking we are saying we are the the the the the falling heart that we are
06:29seeking to fight you affects our rights affects their rights invariably we are doing them a favor by
06:35canvassing this before the course i don't know any nigerian who's more involved and that's a
06:41father as a mother who has a young lady who eventually become a mother i don't know anybody's not
06:46difficult for a father or a mother but all the world that's right all the matter the matter of national
06:52significance a matter of national importance we are not trying to do anybody with people this is a
06:57collective challenge and that's why we're here thank you sir thank you
07:10it's about the life the right to life for our young women and girls who experience incest as well as
07:18a way when it comes to having unwanted pregnancies out of those incidents then it's just blocking that
07:27and at the end of the day it's unsafe they find the ways that are not safe for them which was what
07:32what we call unsafe termination of pregnancy and then we lose we'll lose a lot of our lives
07:38at the end of the day what do we all say women lives matters
