00:00Just this year I visited the Welsh town of Pontypridd with my wife Catherine, where the
00:06community is still recovering from devastating floods.
00:10I met families who had lost their homes, their possessions and their sense of security.
00:16One resident told me how the river that once brought life to the town had become a source
00:22of fear.
00:24Their resilience was deeply moving.
00:26It was also a powerful reminder that climate change is not a distant threat, it is affecting
00:32lives across the UK and across the world, from small towns to major cities, from coastal communities
00:38to inland regions.
00:40No corner of the globe will be unaffected.
00:44These impacts pose risks to growth, security and wellbeing in all countries.
00:51But we know that these risks often fall hardest on those who contributed least to the crisis.
00:56This demands urgent, coordinated action.
01:02We must ask ourselves, what legacy do we wish to leave?
01:07Because the impact of all our choices will be felt by us all around the world, in the
01:12safety of their homes, the stability of their livelihoods and the health of the natural world
01:17that sustains us all.
