03:08Yeah, what's up?
03:13All right, dude.
03:14I'll see you down there.
03:15Thanks.
03:19Right now, we're going to head over to the water pump here
03:21for Roxanne, see exactly what's going on.
03:24Not ideal.
03:25Obviously, anytime you have a situation like this,
03:27your wash plant's down.
03:29It's not producing gold.
03:30At the end of the day and the end of the week,
03:32Parker's going to say, why are the numbers down?
03:35What's going on?
03:36You have to explain what exactly happened.
03:39Earlier this season...
03:41We live and die by the water pump, right?
03:43Wash plants don't run.
03:45Cuts don't get dewatered.
03:47Parker spent $540,000
03:49on three new
03:51supersized water pumps.
03:54Did they give us a full tank of fuel?
03:56Bone dry.
03:58Thanks, guys.
03:59It's been half a milli,
04:00and they siphoned out the fuel tank.
04:05They're brand new,
04:06but a lot of rust build up in the tanks
04:09just because they sat with no fuel in them.
04:12And the first thing I said when I saw that
04:14was put these in a pond
04:15and test them before they come out.
04:18Mitch suspects rust
04:20has clogged the pump's fuel filter
04:22and plans to swap it out
04:24for a much older spare.
04:26Right now, we just got to get this plant up and running,
04:28and we have a water pump here that works,
04:30and we're going to put it back in place.
04:35Right now, we got the 480 coming in here,
04:38and we're going to lift this pump out.
04:40We're going to put the old one back in place.
04:43Helping him,
04:44mechanic Jordan Sands.
04:47Here I am,
04:48helping out my friends.
04:50All right, here we go.
04:51Don't drop it.
04:58Nice and easy.
04:59Look at that.
05:03Beautiful.
05:07Right on the ball.
05:08That was beautiful.
05:10The rusted pump sent to the yard.
05:14Mitch and Jordan set about
05:15craning in the replacement pump.
05:20Hopefully it's got enough life left in it here
05:22to finish this cutout.
05:26Jordan's going to get it rigged up here.
05:28We're going to fly it in.
05:28We've got to line up the discharge,
05:30get that hooked up,
05:31and then we've got to get the suction on it,
05:33and hopefully we'll be back up and sluicing.
05:37Heck yeah.
05:40She's heavy.
05:41Yeah, it is.
05:42Don't put it over the water.
05:51Right now, we're just positioning the pump.
05:53The hardest part here is we've got to line up
05:54our discharge on the pump
05:56to our very discharge here,
05:57and pretty much got to be right on the money.
06:01Hella close.
06:10You know, when you're doing this kind of stuff, dude,
06:12stuff's going to break,
06:13stuff's going to not work.
06:15Don't matter the product.
06:16Don't matter the make.
06:17She's turning.
06:18She's on her way to break.
06:19Ooh, I just came up with that right now.
06:21That was good.
06:22That could be your motto there.
06:23Better.
06:24I could take up rhyming and just quit this.
06:27Okay, yeah.
06:28Just be a poet over there.
06:30So right now,
06:31we've got our old pump back in place.
06:33We're going to tighten these up
06:34and try and get us back running here.
06:36Definitely a lot of lost time here.
06:39Yeah, buddy.
06:43Okay.
06:43That went pretty good.
06:44The big problem and why this pump came out
06:47is because we knew the foot valve was having a problem.
06:50When we turned the pump off,
06:52we'd notice that our water line
06:53wouldn't hold water in it.
06:55It'd all bleed back out.
06:56And that valve down here should stop that,
06:59keep the water in the line,
07:00and it also allows the water pump to prime itself.
07:05I've got the plant turned off.
07:07I've got the bypass turned off.
07:08We're trying to pull all the air out of the pipeline
07:11in order to start creating vacuum.
07:13The pump sucks water from the pond
07:18using a rotating impeller,
07:21creating a centrifugal force
07:23that pulls water in
07:24and pushes it uphill to Roxanne.
07:27Because the flip valve is broken,
07:30water has escaped
07:31and created an air pocket in the pump,
07:34blocking the impeller
07:35and stopping water flow.
07:38Mitch's plan,
07:40known as deadheading,
07:41is to max out the pump
07:43and cause a vacuum powerful enough
07:45to suck water through the impeller
07:47and push the air blockage up the pipe,
07:50allowing water to flow to Roxanne.
07:53But if the pump is not turned down
07:56and the wash plant's bypass
07:58not opened at the correct moment,
08:00the increased water pressure
08:02could blow the whole system.
08:08So this is 100% what you never want to do,
08:12and that's deadhead your pump.
08:16You know, if we end up blowing the pipeline in half here,
08:18we're going to have way bigger problems
08:19than just what we already got going on.
08:21This right here is one of those
08:25don't try this at home.
08:30I can see that the lay-flat hose
08:33is starting to collapse.
08:34That means that it's pulling the air out of it.
08:42There it is.
08:43We got her.
08:50Hey!
08:51Hey!
08:52Turn it down!
09:00Hey, we got it there,
09:02but you can see just how much water pressure that was.
09:05The bypass about blew out of its spot there.
09:08That water hit.
09:09Had a lot of energy.
09:10When your hand first went up,
09:12I was like, he needs more water to keep her hoop.
09:14It about blew the bypass.
09:18All right, we're back in action.
09:19Appreciate it.
09:20Thanks, man.
09:21See you, Mitch.
09:25But right now, man,
09:26we just want to get this plant back up and running.
09:38You ready to sluice, buddy?
09:40Yeah.
09:40Yeah, let's do it.
09:48At the end of the day,
09:49if this wash plan isn't running,
09:50we're not getting anywhere near or close
09:52to Parker's target.
09:59Coming up...
10:00Oh, my...
10:01A critical machine goes down.
10:04This is an absolute catastrophe.
10:06And Mitch's plan to keep Roxanne running...
10:09Oh, come on, he...
10:11hits the skids.
10:12Not good, man.
10:14Not good at all.
10:15Right now, getting the loader fleet up and running.
10:30So it's really important we get them all in fighting shape,
10:33because they'll be running 24 hours a day.
10:36In Parker's lay-down yard,
10:38mechanic Taylor Matika
10:40is working on a broken loader
10:42so the whole fleet will be operational.
10:45Nacho!
10:47Hey, buddy.
10:48He's, like, the best therapy.
10:50I can't have a bad day when I jump in my truck
10:53and Nacho's just chilling.
10:57Hey, Taylor, do you got a copy?
10:58Taylor?
10:59Yeah, go ahead.
11:03Arnold has a code popping up.
11:05There's water in the fuel.
11:07You said water in the fuel?
11:09I'm in.
11:11All right, I'll be right out.
11:13A 25-mile drive away at Sulphur Creek,
11:17a 220 loader nicknamed Arnold is broken.
11:22And with no spare,
11:25Wash Plant Bob is shut down.
11:29What's going on, buddy?
11:35Code popped up.
11:36I shut it off right away.
11:37All right, give me a few minutes
11:38and we'll see what's happening.
11:39I'll hit you on the radio when I'm done.
11:40Cheers.
11:41With gold production at a standstill,
11:45Taylor must diagnose the problem
11:47and get it back up and running
11:48as soon as possible.
11:50Water in the fuel is no joke.
11:52Sometimes it's just a fault with the sensor,
11:55or sometimes we have a bigger problem.
11:57This is called a water separator right here.
12:00Any water that finds its way in the tank,
12:02water's heavier than the fuel,
12:04so it should fill the bowl with water
12:06and the fuel would stay above it.
12:08It's hard to tell what's going on here
12:12just by looking in there,
12:13but it doesn't really look like diesel.
12:17There's a lot of it.
12:18Oh, my...
12:22Smells like DEF.
12:28No way.
12:32Looks like somebody might have put DEF
12:34in the fuel tank,
12:35because this is not water.
12:40And the only way you'd get DEF
12:41in the fuel system
12:42is if you poured DEF
12:43into the fuel tank.
12:46I wonder if this thing even runs.
12:50Diesel exhaust fluid,
12:54known as DEF,
12:56helps reduce emissions.
12:57But if it gets into the engine,
12:59it can crystallize,
13:01causing catastrophic failure.
13:03It's a huge bummer
13:11that this thing can't be running right now.
13:13We have nothing to feed Bob with
13:14without Arnold running here,
13:16so, you know, time is money.
13:18We got loaders at every plant right now.
13:20We got one in the yard that's down.
13:22We need this thing up and running,
13:23and this is a curveball
13:24and an unnecessary one at that.
13:29Here's where you fill fuel.
13:31Here's where you fill DEF.
13:33right?
13:33So, obviously,
13:34someone had this cap off
13:36and they poured DEF
13:37in the fuel tank.
13:38We got to talk to Night Shift
13:39and see how we ended up
13:42in this predicament.
13:44What I'm going to do is
13:45take a cover off the bottom,
13:46drain the tank.
13:48We'll see what's coming out of the tank.
13:57Oh, my f***ing b***h.
14:00It's all f***ing clear.
14:01How much DEF
14:03did they dump in this thing?
14:05Oh, my f***ing b***h.
14:08We got a 350-liter tank here
14:11that was close to full,
14:12so I've drained 100 liters out.
14:15The evac tank in my truck
14:17should be capable
14:18of handling the rest.
14:19And you can see
14:33the clear stuff at the bottom
14:35is DEF.
14:36That's diesel.
14:37This is absolute catastrophe
14:39for the fuel system.
14:40I've still got my suction on it,
14:45so I hope that filling it here
14:47can kind of flush the bottom
14:49of the tank, too.
14:51After draining almost $700
14:54worth of contaminated fuel,
14:57Taylor fills and drains
14:58the tank again
14:59in an attempt to flush
15:01the fuel system clean.
15:03So we've flushed out the tank
15:05and I've filled it up,
15:07so what we know we have
15:08is clean fuel in the tank
15:10for the most part.
15:11So we know that
15:12the contaminated fuel
15:14ran through these filters,
15:16so we're going to change those.
15:19And then all we have to worry about
15:20is what's in the fuel lines.
15:23There's a lot to worry about there
15:25because if DEF ran through the injectors,
15:27there's a very high chance
15:28that the injectors will fail.
15:30If that happens,
15:31we're looking at
15:32somewhere in the neighborhood
15:34of $15,000
15:36just from a lapse in judgment,
15:39so we'll see.
15:49Hey, man, how's it going?
15:50We've got two loaders
15:51down right now,
15:52so somebody put DEF
15:54in the diesel tank.
15:55Oh, no.
15:56Across the claim,
15:58Mitch is on his rounds
15:59checking in with mechanic
16:01Tyler Jankowski.
16:03Little operator error there.
16:04Yeah, man.
16:05Not the time to do this.
16:07No, that's not good at all.
16:09All right.
16:09Let's go see what's going on
16:10with this thing.
16:11Okay, awesome.
16:12Thank you.
16:12Thanks, dude.
16:12Appreciate it.
16:16Determined to keep
16:17the operation running
16:18in Parker's absence,
16:20Mitch heads to the sulfur cut.
16:23You know, this time of the season
16:24I think is the toughest
16:25because everybody's thinking
16:27about going home,
16:28this mining season,
16:29six months long.
16:30It's a lot of work
16:31to get done.
16:32It's a lot of hours
16:33everybody's putting in
16:34out here.
16:34And if you lose focus
16:36for just a short period
16:38of time,
16:39you know,
16:40something can go wrong.
16:41It all takes time
16:42and costs money.
16:42What's going on?
16:55What did you find?
16:57So I have drained the whole tank.
17:01I filled and drained again.
17:04I've changed the fuel filters
17:07and right now
17:08this is fuel coming
17:09directly out of the head.
17:10So right now you're just
17:11trying to purge everything
17:12out of the fuel system
17:13and get everything
17:15out of the cylinder head.
17:16Not good, man.
17:18Not good at all.
17:19I mean,
17:19last time we had
17:20new injectors in it.
17:21Yeah.
17:22Yeah, and we don't have
17:23a set of injectors here
17:24so let's cross our fingers.
17:26Well, man,
17:27I know every other loader
17:28has got a job to do
17:28out here
17:29so we need this thing running
17:30and get Bob back,
17:31fire it up.
17:32This is the end of her
17:33so we can fire it up
17:34here pretty quick.
17:35It gets real expensive
17:36real quick.
17:36Not only the expense
17:37of fixing the machine
17:38but now we've got
17:39a wash plant
17:40that's not running.
17:40All right, buddy.
17:42Well, let me know
17:43what you'll find out.
17:43Yeah, sounds good.
17:44I'll get a hold of you
17:45when we get it running.
17:47Taylor's doing everything
17:48he can here
17:48to get her fired back up.
17:49We're going to order
17:50some injectors
17:50and some spare parts
17:51but hopefully we can
17:52get it running
17:53with what we got.
17:58Mitch is busy.
17:59He's got a lot going on.
18:00He's trying to manage
18:01a lot of people
18:02and a lot of equipment
18:03and he's about
18:06as pleased as I am
18:07to find out
18:08that there's death
18:09in the fuel tank.
18:10I don't think
18:11you can go overkill
18:12on this step.
18:13My tricep would disagree
18:15right now
18:16but if that shit
18:17is in the head
18:18we might be shit.
18:22Now we've got
18:23to cross our fingers
18:24and hope that
18:25it runs nicely.
18:27Now, Taylor
18:29has just one shot
18:30to fire up the loader.
18:33If the death
18:34is in the fuel injectors
18:35it'll cause
18:36irreversible damage
18:38and wash plant Bob
18:40will stay shut down
18:42until new parts arrive.
18:47So, here goes nothing.
18:50I'm really happy
19:06that it's running
19:07all right.
19:08Not to get too excited here
19:09but I think
19:10we can fire that blob.
19:15Hey, buddy.
19:16Hey, man.
19:17we're all good to go.
19:17Fingers crossed, man.
19:19Fingers crossed.
19:20Everyone should learn
19:20a lesson from this one too.
19:22I've got to talk
19:22to the night shift boys
19:23but this could have been
19:24a hell of a lot worse.
19:25But yeah, let's get after it.
19:27Awesome.
19:27Cheers, bro.
19:28Thanks, Taylor.
19:28Take it easy.
19:29I'm going to go
19:30run the plant now.
19:31Fire up Bob
19:32and then
19:33we're going to get
19:34some dirt in the hopper.
19:45I'm jamming the hopper folds
19:47trying to make up
19:48lost time.
19:49I like getting
19:50more gold,
19:51more potential
19:52for a bonus for me.
19:53Right now
19:56Bob is doing
19:57exactly what
19:58it needs to here
19:59which is
20:02washing rocks
20:03and making gold.
20:06So
20:07since it's
20:07motoring along
20:08I'm going to go
20:09keep making my rounds.
20:23Just
20:25call home
20:27and see how
20:27everybody's doing.
20:33Oh, hello.
20:35Look at his little shirt.
20:36His nose are on it.
20:37Oh, yeah, it does.
20:38You're grown up quick.
20:40I know.
20:41He looks just like you.
20:44Oh, really?
20:45What's up with you, chick?
20:47What happened?
20:50Whoa, were you kidding me?
20:52You lost your two front teeth?
20:53What?
20:54Oh, I'm glad you didn't.
20:57I'll be home pretty soon.
20:59He said he'll be home
21:00really soon.
21:00Okay.
21:01Okay, love you.
21:03Dad is going back.
21:05Bye, Dad.
21:07Bye, baby.
21:08Be good for your mom, okay?
21:09Bye.
21:10Love you.
21:11Love you, too.
21:11Bye.
21:12Bye.
21:13You know, I've got
21:14four-year-old
21:15and six-month-old
21:17and
21:17you're up here
21:18for six months
21:19at a time
21:20but at the end of the day
21:22you've got to work.
21:24I want to try and get home
21:25as fast as possible.
21:26That's why I try and get
21:27as much work done each day
21:28as I possibly can
21:29and that's really
21:30the motivator for me
21:31is, you know,
21:32if I can make that wash plant
21:33run a little faster,
21:34if I can get through the cut
21:35a little bit quicker
21:36by being more efficient,
21:38it's just that much sooner
21:39that I get to, you know,
21:41spend time with my kids.
21:41so that's what it's all about.
21:45Mind boss Parker Schnabel
21:47is away on business,
21:49leaving foreman Mitch Blaschke
21:51holding down the fort.
21:54There's more that has
21:55to be taken care of
21:56because he's not here
21:57doing what he normally does.
21:59The biggest thing
22:00is just keeping morale up
22:01and keeping everybody focused.
22:02This time of the year
22:03is tough
22:04and it's not going
22:05to get any easier
22:06until the end of this season
22:07and everybody's heading home.
22:09Mitch is nearing the end
22:11of his season-long project,
22:13the 20-acre long cut.
22:17Now at the start of the year,
22:18Parker said the long cut
22:20has to be completed this season
22:22and he said,
22:23I don't care what you have to do
22:24to make that happen,
22:25just make sure it gets done.
22:29Now the long cut
22:30has been pretty consistent.
22:32It's been a pretty consistent
22:33pain in the ass
22:34since the start of it
22:35and it's put up
22:36one hell of a fight here
22:38but if it was easy,
22:40it would have been done
22:40a long time ago
22:41and that's the reason
22:42why the gold's still here
22:43for us to get.
22:46After swapping out
22:47the water pump,
22:48Mitch is digging out
22:49more pater.
22:51What I'm doing right now
22:52is just going back
22:53along the edge.
22:54Originally,
22:54when we were putting
22:55the ditch in here,
22:56that edge was all frozen
22:57but now this has had time
22:58to thaw out
22:59and it really generates
23:00quite a bit of material here
23:02so, you know,
23:03by going back in here
23:04and cleaning this up,
23:06you know,
23:06we're looking at several
23:07shifts of material
23:08for the wash plant.
23:10We're going to get this
23:11loaded in the truck.
23:11It's up to Roxanne.
23:16I'm really happy
23:17that I get to be
23:18a part of this operation.
23:20Driving the pay
23:21to the plant
23:22is rock truck driver
23:24Taven Peterson.
23:25I actually really enjoy
23:27working for Mitch
23:28because he seems
23:29to really care
23:29and he'll do anything
23:31that needs done.
23:32I'm just grateful
23:32that I have great operators
23:34surrounding me
23:35that know what they're doing.
23:41Got lots of dirt
23:42to throw through
23:43the wash plant still
23:44so, you know,
23:45we're out here
23:45going like jackrabbits
23:48trying to get everything done.
23:49At Roxanne,
23:51newly promoted
23:52loader operator
23:53John Kurtz
23:54is running the plant
23:55solo
23:56for the first time
23:57feeding it
23:58250 yards
24:00of pay dirt
24:00an hour.
24:02Running a loader
24:03is definitely
24:03a big step up
24:05responsibility-wise
24:06from a rock truck.
24:08Running a loader,
24:09you have about
24:09a million other things
24:10that you've got
24:11to be watching.
24:12It's a good way
24:12to prove yourself
24:13that you're reliable
24:14and someone
24:15that people can count on.
24:17Oh, that's a big
24:43holy
24:45Oh, my feeders
24:52clogged.
24:58That's water!
25:00Oh, come on,
25:01you
25:01I had to clog up
25:11in my feeder
25:12so I had to run up
25:13and hit the breaker.
25:15and they'd come
25:15hit the bypass
25:16before that explodes.
25:24Oh, hey, Mitch.
25:27Yeah, man, what's up?
25:29Nah, I got a problem
25:30up here, Roxanne.
25:31My feeder's all
25:32jammed up with some
25:33and I need some help.
25:35All right, man.
25:36Hang tight.
25:36I'll be right there.
25:38Copy that.
25:38Those rocks are way
25:46at the bottom.
25:47So it's blocking my dirt
25:49from hitting the feeder belt.
25:51I'm just trying to dig
25:52out of the dirt
25:53and I'm about
25:54not even halfway.
25:56Large rocks have slipped
25:58through the grizzly bars
25:59and clogged the bottom
26:01of the hopper feeder.
26:02Oh, there's a big
26:03to clear it,
26:08John will have to dig out
26:09a mountain of dirt
26:10by hand.
26:12I'm hoping once Mitch
26:14sees this
26:14that he'll understand
26:16my situation
26:16and won't have to get
26:18thrown back in the truck
26:19because I will be very upset
26:21if that's the case.
26:22Well, there's the man
26:27of the hour.
26:30What's up, man?
26:31I got a big old boulder
26:32right at the bottom
26:33of my feed belt.
26:34Yeah?
26:35And it's just causing
26:36the back end of the feeder
26:37to clog up
26:38and where the front end
26:39has nothing.
26:40So I have a feeling
26:40we have to like
26:41shovel more
26:42or something.
26:43Let's have a look.
26:46Oh, yeah.
26:48Well, let's go ahead
26:49and get the plant
26:49back shaking
26:50and all the belts going.
26:52We'll turn the water
26:52on and we'll start
26:53purging out
26:54what we can here.
26:55Okay.
26:57What happens
26:58is these big rocks
26:59get wedged in there.
27:01Once that happens,
27:03the material builds up.
27:04Causes a lot of chaos.
27:08You know,
27:08John's one of our
27:09new loader operators,
27:10but he's doing
27:10a really good job up here.
27:12And this is the best
27:13thing to do
27:14when a problem
27:14like this happens
27:15is call for help.
27:17John did the hard work.
27:18So we're going to get
27:19this thing cleared out here
27:20and get her back rolling.
27:21and every minute
27:23we're down here
27:23is just gold
27:24we're not going to have
27:24at the end of the week.
27:26Mitch thinks
27:27John has already
27:28cleared enough rocks
27:30to turn on the feeder
27:31and dislodge
27:32the remaining dirt.
27:39There we go.
27:40Let's let it just
27:41feed out.
27:42I think we're good.
27:44Let her clear out here.
27:45Oh, yeah.
27:48She's dropping down
27:49nicely now.
27:51We're looking really good
27:52right now.
27:52The material's dropping
27:53off the back wall.
27:55Got the big rock removed.
27:56Everything's flowing now.
27:57Time to throw dirt at it.
28:00That was my first
28:01kind of shutdown I've had.
28:03Glad that Mitch
28:04was happy about everything
28:05and it wasn't
28:06too big of an issue.
28:08I mean,
28:08I had most of it
28:09shoveled out
28:10to where it would just
28:10slid all out
28:11when he showed up
28:12and fired the plant
28:13up for me.
28:14So I'm glad he was
28:15in good spirits about it.
28:17Definitely
28:18going to have
28:19a couple beers
28:19after work.
28:20So that was
28:20we got the plant
28:25back up and running.
28:26Pretty soon,
28:27he'll understand
28:28what he has to do
28:29in those situations
28:30and be able to just
28:30take care of it
28:31on his own.
28:33You know,
28:33when I look at
28:34all the seasons
28:35I've been up here mining
28:36and where it all started,
28:38you know,
28:38I was the guy up here
28:39pulling wrenches
28:40and when I'd get
28:41everything up and going,
28:42I'd jump in machinery
28:43and, you know,
28:43help move the dirt as well.
28:45And I think
28:46that really helps me
28:47a lot with,
28:48you know,
28:49being the foreman now
28:50because I've fixed
28:52the machinery,
28:53I've operated
28:53the machinery,
28:55I've run the wash plants.
28:56You know,
28:57mistakes and lessons
28:58that you've learned
28:58in the past
28:59help you in the future.
29:00Definitely still learning
29:01things new every day
29:03with as much
29:04as Parker throws at us.
29:06It's constantly a challenge
29:08of trying to do
29:08more with less.
29:12Well,
29:19the long cut
29:19is not so long
29:20anymore.
29:21We almost got this.
29:24What was that?
29:27Oh,
29:28that stick cylinder
29:29is walking out.
29:32You've got to be
29:33kidding me.
29:35Yo, Taylor,
29:36you got a copy, man?
29:38All right.
29:38This thing is
29:40f***ing.
29:55Mitch hit me
29:56on the radio
29:57and said that
29:58he was running
29:59this hoe
30:00and a pin popped
30:01out of the stick cylinder.
30:03There it is.
30:04In the long cut,
30:07foreman Mitch Blaschke
30:08is facing
30:09another breakdown.
30:11The 480
30:12digging pay
30:13is sidelined.
30:15It's a race
30:16against the clock
30:17for mechanic Taylor
30:18to get it fixed
30:20before Roxanne
30:21runs out of pay.
30:23It's a good thing
30:23Mitch caught this
30:24in time.
30:25Had the pin
30:25walked all the way out
30:26while he was loading
30:27a truck or something,
30:28the results could have
30:29been a lot different.
30:30You know,
30:31it risks damaging
30:32a truck that it's loading,
30:34it risks damaging
30:35the excavator
30:35and it could injure
30:36the person sitting
30:37in the rock truck
30:38if this stick
30:39were to fall down
30:40uncontrollably.
30:43I brought some steel
30:44out with me
30:44so I'll just
30:45fashion something
30:46that keeps that pin
30:47from wanting to
30:47walk out again.
30:48It can't go that way,
30:50it can only go this way
30:50so if I weld
30:51a chunk of steel
30:52on the backside of it
30:53it's probably the
30:54fastest way
30:55to get this thing
30:55back up and running.
31:00So we got the pin
31:20back in
31:21so now
31:22I'm just going to
31:23roll the stick in
31:24so that I can weld
31:25this while I'm standing.
31:26welding a little tab
31:31on there
31:31won't be nearly
31:32as strong
31:32as something
31:33on the backside
31:33so by welding
31:34a big piece of steel
31:35on the backside
31:36the pin can't go
31:37that way
31:38and the pin
31:38can't go this way.
31:39Problem solved.
31:40So yeah,
31:41the best thing to do
31:42is just smack
31:42a big slab of steel
31:43on there
31:44weld it up
31:44nice and solid
31:45and we'll grease
31:47the ever living piss
31:48out of this thing
31:48and then send her
31:49back to work.
31:51We'll just use
31:52the thickest piece
31:53possible.
31:54Thicker equals stronger.
31:56We have a bit
32:13of dissimilar metal
32:14with the pin
32:16versus just the
32:17mild steel
32:17but that won't
32:18make a difference
32:19right now.
32:20I know that
32:20I can weld this
32:21solid enough
32:22to the pin
32:22that it ain't
32:23going anywhere.
32:26Retainer's welded on
32:33now I'm just
32:33running it a little
32:34bit to make sure
32:35that nothing's
32:36binding up.
32:37Seems like it's
32:38everything's going
32:39smooth so
32:39Mitch is rolling
32:40up right now
32:41perfect timing.
32:49Oh it's moving
32:50oh yeah
32:52how's it going buddy?
32:54Good bro
32:55just in time
32:56ready to go back
32:57to work?
32:58Yes sir
32:59she can spin
33:00she can twist
33:01she can't come
33:02out either side
33:03perfect
33:04well we'll get her
33:05back in action
33:06here and start
33:07hauling some
33:07pay dirt
33:07been happening
33:08all day
33:09hopefully this
33:09is the last
33:10of it
33:10alright buddy
33:10thanks man
33:11alright now
33:30we're at Roxanne
33:31just doing a
33:31clean up here
33:32and it's one
33:33of those things
33:34that when we're
33:35short on people
33:36everybody's just
33:36got to jump in
33:37to get the job
33:37done
33:38as the shift
33:39nears its end
33:40it's all hands
33:41on deck
33:42for a clean up
33:43at Roxanne
33:44in the long cut
33:45real important
33:48here that the
33:49clean up gets done
33:50the gold gets
33:50down there
33:51so it can be
33:52processed
33:52and that's when
33:53we get to see
33:54our end result
33:55and all the hard
33:56work we've been
33:56doing
33:57hopefully pays off
33:58with what's in this
33:59Mitch needs
34:01to get the
34:01clean up done
34:02quickly
34:03so Roxanne
34:04can fire back
34:05up for the
34:06night shift
34:06right now
34:08we've got
34:08Justin in here
34:09helping
34:10he's normally
34:10running the
34:11loader
34:11running the
34:11wash plant
34:12we've got
34:13Nikki out
34:13here helping
34:14she's normally
34:14at camp
34:15helping in the
34:15kitchen
34:16we've got
34:16Tatiana
34:17who's been
34:17not only out
34:18here doing
34:19the clean up
34:19on the plant
34:20going back
34:21helping Chris
34:22and then also
34:22jumping in a
34:23loader
34:23wherever else
34:24is needed
34:24you've been
34:25very busy
34:26this season
34:27Tatiana
34:27with three
34:28wash plants
34:28most of the
34:29year
34:29oh yeah
34:30we had six
34:31averaging six
34:32clean ups
34:33a week
34:33when the
34:35free plants
34:35were running
34:36so yeah
34:37it's been
34:38busy
34:38with the
34:40season's end
34:41in sight
34:41and the
34:42long cut
34:43nearly mined
34:44out
34:44each clean up
34:45becomes more
34:46critical than
34:47the last
34:48so you can see
34:49here we've got
34:50the gold
34:50laying on the
34:51steel here
34:52so what we're
34:53going to do
34:53here is put
34:54everything in
34:55one tank
34:55and then we're
34:56going to send
34:56all this material
34:57to the clean up
34:58room
34:58and they're
34:59going to process
35:00it and we'll
35:00see what we got
35:01here
35:01I'll pull this
35:05out if you want
35:05to grab the
35:06excavator and put
35:07it on this
35:07truck
35:07yeah
35:08right now
35:19we're just
35:19lifting the
35:20concentrate tank
35:21away from the
35:22wash plant
35:22all the gold
35:24concentrate from
35:26Roxanne is
35:27transferred to
35:28the metal tank
35:29making it the
35:30most important
35:31element of the
35:32clean up
35:32last thing you
35:33want to do is
35:34dump this tub out
35:35this has all the
35:36gold in it
35:36that wouldn't make
35:37anybody very happy
35:38around here so we
35:39want to be careful
35:40getting this on the
35:41truck we got Chris
35:42out here picking it
35:42up he's going to
35:43take it back and
35:44start the clean up
35:45right there
35:49perfect
35:50right there we
35:52have you know
35:53a week's worth
35:53of stripping
35:54ground
35:55sluicing
35:56we're going to
35:57go see what we
35:58got
35:58right now we're
36:07just heading down
36:08to check in with
36:09Alec and Liam
36:09and see how the
36:10rebuild on sluice
36:11is going
36:12a stalwart
36:13of Parker's
36:14operation for
36:15eight years
36:16producing 28,000
36:18ounces of gold
36:19this season
36:20wash plant
36:21sluice
36:22is sidelined
36:23for extensive
36:24repairs

36:42to be put back
36:43together
36:43so we are
36:44looking pretty
36:44good to have
36:45it all wrapped
36:46up by the
36:46end of the
36:46season then
36:47we'll be in
36:48good shape
36:48for next year
36:49I think so
36:50many people
36:50don't realize
36:50just how abrasive
36:51the rock and
36:52sand is
36:52but this thing
36:53when you need
36:54to get through
36:54a lot of dirt
36:54in a hurry
36:55it'll do it
36:55yeah
36:56you guys stay
36:56after it
36:57we'll get this
36:58ready for some
36:58more gold
36:59sounds good
36:59right now we're
37:13just headed down
37:14to the gold room
37:15to have a check
37:15in on the
37:16cleanup from
37:17Roxanne with
37:17Chris
37:18see if he's got
37:19any results for
37:20us yet
37:20and this is
37:21going to let
37:21us know how
37:22that ground's
37:23looking that we're
37:23currently sluicing
37:24and we can make
37:26adjustments if
37:26necessary
37:27let's go see
37:28what's up with
37:29Chris here
37:30Schnabel claim
37:32foreman
37:33Mitch Blaschke
37:34has battled
37:35breakdowns
37:36plant shutdowns
37:37and operator
37:38errors all day
37:40now
37:42after a cleanup
37:43at Roxanne
37:44it's time to see
37:45if he succeeded
37:46in keeping the
37:47gold coming in
37:48so right now
37:51we're down here
37:51at the gold room
37:52now we have
37:52the old gold room
37:53that we had
37:54when we were
37:54mining down
37:55on Tony's ground
37:56and we also have
37:57the gold room
37:57here that was
37:58on the property
37:59when Parker
37:59bought Dominion
38:00now Chris
38:01has so much
38:02going on
38:02so many processes
38:03he actually uses
38:04both of these
38:04buildings to get
38:05this gold clean
38:06Chris
38:09hey Mitchell
38:10so we're in
38:17the original
38:18gold room
38:18here of Dominion
38:19and you know
38:21Chris has totally
38:21revamped all this
38:22he's brought in
38:23our stuff
38:23this is a trommel
38:25that's made
38:25by the same
38:26company that
38:27made Roxanne
38:28and made
38:29Slucifer
38:29this machine here
38:31was built by
38:33MSI
38:33so this is
38:34Freddy Dodge
38:35going way back
38:35to the Hoffmans
38:36is where this
38:38all started from
38:39so you know
38:40Chris uses
38:40different processes
38:41depending on
38:42how the gold is
38:43but you know
38:44right now
38:44we're washing
38:45everything out of
38:46the tank
38:46this is right
38:47from the wash
38:47plant
38:47into the
38:48cleanup trommel
38:49here
38:49and this is
38:50going to get
38:51the gold
38:51concentrated for
38:52him here
38:52pretty quickly
38:53from there
38:54he just keeps
38:54refining it
38:55depending on
38:56how the gold
38:57looks
38:57what type
38:57it is
38:58might send
38:59it through
38:59this
38:59it might
39:00go right
39:00over to
39:00the next
39:01gold room
39:01but Chris
39:02has an
39:02awesome system
39:03here
39:03he's perfected
39:04it over the
39:04years
39:05and certainly
39:06knows how
39:07to get that
39:07gold clean
39:08any gold in it
39:15looks like a good
39:22one
39:22if I let it run
39:26like this
39:27do you see
39:28where it's starting
39:29to expose itself
39:30on the sides
39:30now
39:31so we're seeing
39:34gold all
39:34throughout this
39:35material here
39:36not just sitting
39:37on top
39:37but as Chris
39:38is washing it
39:39down
39:39you know
39:40we're seeing
39:40that gold
39:41working its way
39:42down into the
39:44cleanup trommel
39:44that's what it's
39:45all about
39:46this is what
39:46we're here to do
39:47all the work
39:48all the dirt
39:48that gets moved
39:49all the hours
39:50of the wash
39:51plant running
39:51it all is about
39:52you know
39:52what is inside
39:53this tote
